To me when you have a decommit like this is when you pay the price for not using the portal. My fear is that we'll steal someone's three star we never believed could play championship football and have him for four years. Better to pick up a guy for a year and go back recruiting. If I could still call Dabo that's what I'd suggest.

I think Kevin Dodd’s brother or cousin is one of the coots top recruits. He’s a 4 star. Maybe they flip him.

From what I have read from recruiting analysts, Davis was an oversign for the Tigers. Signing 2 was the plan. The staff may decide to pursue another DT than try to sign another DE for this class. Of course a signing class of 17 or so is pretty small given the 6 or 7 transfers the roster is likely to experience. Dabo says he discusses with his position assistants if they feel they could benefit from a portal player. He said they have chosen to stick with youth/development path. However, I think this strikeout they experienced this summer will change their aggressiveness going to the portal for depth. Remember, the roster likely has to be trimmed to 105 players and we don’t know how many preferred walkons Dabo will keep for ‘25. My guess is that plenty of walkons will be converted to scholarships vs. recruiting transfers to build up to 105.
