Clemson QB issue

I have one core issue with QB CK. Nice guy. Seems upstanding. But I do not see an inner fire and steel to the guy. He may say the right things and be seen as a good leader, but how competitive is he? (Unknown) How much often is his poise spoken about? (Not much) He may be too nice, the PG13 guy, the guy who is nice on the parents.
And I question that he is not decisive or confident with decisions.
Case in point- and a dumb example I agree- but go watch recent VLOG episode. Cade cannot even quickly decide is he prefers grape or strawberry jelly for a PB&J!!!!!!
He only agrees on strawberry after the other teammate says he wants strawberry.
Dabo and coaches need to get that kid some counseling. QB CK is lost and needs to find his inner resolve and confidence.

The VLOG episode - go to 9:30 in the episode. Part of it is funny, but right away the guy has to pause.
My gut feeling is he is overthinking. He has lost his instincts because he does not want to make a mistake on the field.
The kid needs some help and someone to rebuild his confidence. He is thinking and not playing.

Agreed, I just made a post on this subject, but he is essentially thinking too much. He’s not Peyton Manning with a 200 IQ, but he doesn’t have to be, he just needs to play freely and just make plays. He has the arm talent because he has shown it on a few passes today, but he always looks uncomfortable in the pocket and gets happy feet instead of just making the play, furthermore he is always slow to get the ball out. He’s not making the right reads which is the most concerning because it’s like he isn’t able to go through his progressions. Most unfortunate considering how great our offensive line played today, can’t say he wasn’t given time like previous years, he had time, just did nothing with it. It’s not high school ball anymore where every throw has a guy with 10 yards of separation, you have 1-2 yards and you make a great pass and let the WR do the rest.

100% agree
And I think our offense coaches are not coaching and game planning g based on our personnel, playing to their strengths, etc
I love that Jeff Scott did that when Stoudt had to start over DW in the bowl game. Scott and Elliot were new OCs and had a great game plan based on what Stoudt was good at doing.

I would love to see the film from the perspective they do in the film room… I’d like to know how many open guys he misses , I say that bc I think he played decent tonight but you have wr not running routes to the sticks, stupid penalties that kill momentum and drives, and to be honest I feel like we are the only team in America that a wr doesn’t get an open for an entire game for a 15-20 yard easy pitch and catch … it’s mind blowing , I say that to say imo really since the 2020 season the play calling and offense has digressed to this pathetic show we have now…getting a first down has become so difficult against good teams. I say all that to say I don’t think (unless film shows otherwise) that it’s on cade, imo the playcalling and scheme is that of a middle school c team

I agree with Playcalling or really lack of an offensive approach that looks to makes a defense question what to do.
We are not good enough to line up and play. We need to scheme and run misdirection.

I disagree. His sole problem is his 100% lack of any ability to throw downfield.
Since we can’t throw past the sticks it’s super easy to defend Clemson.

They end up being jump balls like the INT today.

Might work with Mike Williams and Tee but not with 5’ 10” Tony Brown. Love Tony but thats not his game.

Tyler Brown and Antonio Williams, either way Jump balls not great for 5'9 guys unless they are beasts like Steve Smith.

I think Cade can throw it
I just want to know why coaches say he hesitates or needs to work on decision making.

Long ago the UCLA basketball team had two super great centers almost back to back … Kareem and Walton. That ended and UCLA was a notch less capable of dominating …
Clemson had two dominating football QBs almost back t9 back. That has ended and Clemson is a notch less capable of dominating …
Both teams remained good …
