Limbaugh is slamming GOP amnesty, but his ads are pro-amnesty

Feb 3, 2014, 1:32 PM

Pretty funny.

He just went on a tirade absolutely hammering the GOP's amnesty efforts. Then once he goes to commercials, the first one is a pro-amnesty bit from Karl Rove et al.

Get out the popcorn folks, this GOP circular firing squad is gonna be entertaining.

You know something else that's funny

People who think Limbaugh has any control, whatsoever, about what ads radio stations that choose to air his show choose to run.

In fact, that's even more funny than people who blame the President for spending too much.

That depends...

Some of the spots are national, some of them are locally placed, so, yeah, he could have some say over the national spots.

Nope. Clear Channel calls the shots on the national ads

Feb 3, 2014, 3:17 PM

Local stations do their own local ads. Some stations do Rush's parodies instead of ads. When Rush's show goes to break his feed reverts to the parodies. Rush gets paid by stations who carry his program. He also does ads himself on the program (which he does control). But the commercial breaks are not under his control at all national or local (unless they're running his parodies), which aren't ads anyway.

you are 100% correct, but at the same time Rush is a slave to his advertisers. If his rhetoric does not suit their agenda, they go elsewhere.

And to the point of the thread, the fracturing and dissent on the right is popcorn worthy. They have become the party of no solutions, instead pointing at what they perceive as the problems and conveniently pointing the finger to the left.

Another irony of their stake in immigration reform, is that militarizing the border will come at a huge financial expenditure, this from a party that campaigns on cutting wasteful spending In washing. Instead of spending all this money on weapons and tanks, we should be paying fro construction equipment and tackling our infrastructure problems. If we are going to spend, let's no throw it out the window and spend in ways that will serve as valuable long term investments to our countries growth.
