I go and shoot at the same range that local PD and FBI offices shoot at too. I've gone shooting sporting clays multiple times on holidays. These are all irrelevant pieces of information.
Not to mention rifle ranges are even rarer, who cares if he was shooting rifle over handgun for target practice, that's not some strange thing.

LOL. I know, right?
Imagine somebody shooting at a shooting range recreationally, alongside folks who are required to know how to shoot for their job. Especially when he's blasting away with a super-rare AR-15 that you totally can't get at Bass Pro Shop and shooting an exotic round like the, uhm, (cough) .223 Rem. Because when I want to shoot a president, I myself like to use the same round I'd use to rid myself of an annoying groundhog that's been tearing up my garden. Seems like exactly the right round for the job.
How on Earth did they not notice such a thing in their midst?

This is a private gun club. Anybody who is approved for membership can go whenever they want, and however often they want, to practice shooting. We tracking so far?
Are you saying that the FBI or any other government agency should have access to the private club's records about every individual who is shooting there and how often? How very un-American, anti-2nd Amendment of you.

You're saying you have a hard time understanding why anyone would see a 18 to 20 year old dude at the range and not strike up a conversation with him? Maybe take him to dinner and get to know him a little better?
