We don't have to jump anyone in the BCS...
Oct 7, 2013, 3:50 PM
|

the first one comes out after the FSU game... If we win, I would be shocked if we weren't in the top 2. I think Oregon and OSU will have to jump us.
With UMD, GT, SCU, and ACCCG left on the schedule, I'm not sure that will happen.
I think we're gonna be in better shape than some think.

Imagine, an ACC CG that actually means something nationally....how about that?

However, the timing of beating an unbeaten in the championship game has to have some bearing in the human element.
That and the fact of the championship game is not a Clemson home game has to mean a little more as well.
So, I'm hoping for/seeing an unbeaten Miami in the championship game and a 2 lose FSU team as the best scenario.
Bonus: A 2 lose FSU gets shut out of the BCS Games.
Go Tigers!!

Elimination games in our "BCS Bracket"
Oct 7, 2013, 4:03 PM
|
|
FSU SCAR Miami
Win those and play for it all. Other conferences will not have our strength of schedule. We will play the SEC winner, Alabama or LSU.
Also, Georgia is done. They are no better than Tennessee now and will lose at least three more games. We can't hang our hat on that win any longer.
We have four games to the 2013 Clemson national championship. Go Tigers.

Do you not remember a NC Alabama team almost losing in Tennessee? The dawgs are not done by any means.

I worry (??) about the situation where Bama stays
Oct 7, 2013, 4:16 PM

undefeated as does Oregon. Bama seems to get the default votes for #1. Oregon does truly have a fairly tough remaining schedule, by today's rankings. Should they get by UCLA and then Stanford in particular, it will be hard for them not to get top or #2 billing.
For me, a lot will be told in the way Oregon handles Washington next week. All of their lopsided wins so far have been against teams you expect to loose to them in lopsided losses.....

UCLA for the PAC 12 Title.
The PAC 12 title game took a big hit when the refs overturned that catch this past weekend in Washington.
I see UCLA dropping at least 2 games, probably more.

Yeah, once any team loses the scenario changes a lot

I can't take the time myself to figure out all the possibilities in that case. To me, our worst scenario is if Bama and Oregon remain undefeated when/if we do, as well. It's very possible that UCLA only loses to Stanford and Oregon, so an Oregon victory in that case still looks good to the BCS crowd. Without any loses I don't see how Bama falls out of the one spot, but I guess it could happen. But surely they wouldn't fall further than the two spot, and that would have to be due to some very close wins over LSU and UGA (I can't imagine FL winning their division).
But once any team loses, meh, anything could happen.

ona's are in the South. UCLA has to play @Stan and @Oreg back to back in October 19 and 26.
If UCLA could win one, it would be great for us.
But an undefeated Oreg would be near impossible for us to pass in the human polls. THey have more history than we do.

Let's take care of Boston College first. They are the next opponent. 1 at a time folks. Let's try to get to 6-0 before we worry about being 13-0. Hopefully the players stay grounded and focused. Go Tigers !!

If Clemson wins out....

which would include four wins against opponents ranked in the top 15 nationally (Georgia, FSU, South Carolina and probably Miami), Clemson will play for the National Championship.
No other team that is part of the National Championship discussion will have played a schedule that difficult (Alabama (3), Oregon (1), Stanford (1), and Ohio State (0)).

Besides Clemson and a Florida team that is grossly over-rated, $CU's schedule is rediculously weak.

The PROJECTED BCS initial rankings already have us at #2 per an article I read earlier today. If we win out, I think we play for all the marbles.
