Because Putin is now using 5 year olds in the military now. 5 year old inmates only though.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a complete joke

I listen to democrats explain how Biden is playing chess and slowly bleeding out the Russian’s and it’s biggest bunch of crap I’ve ever heard.

Successful foreign policy would have prevented the invasion in the first place

Then hamstringing Ukraine’s capabilities in the early days of the war basically insured a bloody stalemate that still ends with Russia winning after tremendous blood shed.

The complete disregard for history amazes me. Russia has a long history of waging and winning wars of attrition.

And to anyone that says out of ignorance “well they didn’t win in Afghanistan so it can work in Ukraine”…. There were absolutely zero natural resources or major ports to fight for

Afghanistan was a landlocked country that didn’t have any natural resources and had zero strategic value

There were no spoils of victory - zero reward for winning

And for the record, it all worked out horribly for everyone involved. Russia, the US, & Afghanistan.

The Russian people have a high tolerance for suffering and blood shed in the name of mother Russia. Also, Russia is blessed with an abundance of natural resources.

If you were picking countries to wage wars of attrition against, Russia would be neat the very last.

Ask Napoleon and Hitler what fighting wars of attrition against Russia gets you …

So Russia did not win their war of attrition against US backed Afghanistan. So much for that narrative. Hitler and Napoleon both tried to invade Russia. Apples and oranges there, but Afghanistan is a very fair comparison.

1. Russia invades
2. USA supports resistance
3. Russia struggles and fails objective and the "war of attrition" doesn't work.

Get it? LOL

>>Russia has a long history of waging and winning wars of attrition.

Their military history is checkered, with some wins and some losses. Japan beat them in 1905. Germany beat them in 1917. They lost in Afghanistan, and they lost the Cold War, too. They were kicked out of Chechnya in the 1990's.

Their main grinding wins were were when other countries got over-extended trying to invade Russia during the winter against Napoleon and Germany. But they are invading another country now, not the other way around. And unlike WW2, we're not there to help Russia.

If Ukraine gets the support it needs, they can keep Russia occupied indefinitely with such a high price to pay, and Russia will eventually give up.

I'd like it to be answered without Russia's borders being moved to the western frontier of Ukraine, and without Ukraine's male population being sworn into the Russian army at gunpoint.

People act like there's no geopolitical risks here. Well, if we just throw up our hands and let Ukraine rot on the vine with no supplies, then we'd better be sending more troops to Poland and the Baltics and we might as well just hand Moldova over to Russia, too.

The only way they are leaving Ukraine is if the US directly intervenes

is just that. A fantasy. They've gotten their ##### kicked alot.

The US is not going into Ukraine. We're arming them, and as long as we do that and give them the freedom to bomb inside Russian territory, they'll hold out and eventually defeat Russia. If the GOP goes wobbly, which will happen soon most likely, then Ukraine is toast, and you guys will have handed Ukraine to Putin on a silver platter. It won't be Biden's fault. It will be the GOP's fault.

Re: Really?....

Jun 24, 2024, 9:59 PM [ in reply to Really?.... ]

Yup. And the ones they won were generally defensive. They held off Napoleon and Hitler...albeit at the cost of enormous casualties. They've always just thrown bodies into the meatgrinder; their way of war has never been subtle or competent. They're also a lot worse, historically, on offense.

There's also a lively debate going on about how many tanks they have left that can actually be repaired. Most of their depots are now largely empty and there's a lot of suspicion that a fair number of the ones we are still seeing in storage may not be salvageable at all. A good many of them have been moldering away in depots since 1990 or so.

Their outer provinces are also getting really restless. Armenia's breaking away, and 15 cops and some civilians were killed in Dagestan by still-unidentified gunmen yesterday...the Caucuses have always been a hotbed of malcontent.

Russia is not a monolith. It's a bunch of resentful outer provinces composed mostly of non-Russian ethnicities all being forced to service Moscow, and they're the ones doing the fighting and dying in Ukraine.
