Lacrosse loss to Virginia

So I went to lacrosse today at the nice new facility. We dropped the match to #14 Virginia (16-10 UVA when I headed out with 6 mins left).

I am an extreme novice lacrosse viewer but we were definitely not ready for Virginia’s speed to start the match. Went down 5-0 very quickly. We were probably used to playing the inferior teams that we had been facing.

Two observations. It seemed like Virginia was winning way more of the draws. Also, we were not very good at converting the penalty shots. Missed a lot of them or shot them right at the goalie. Always weren’t aggressive with some of them when trailing as we pulled them out which ended up resulting in a worse chance at goal.

Agree, we played very well considering they were a faster team. With the game within a point, they started playing a 1 vs 1 game and we got beat inside.

Unfortunately turnovers killed any chances of winning the game and it was close throughout until the last 10 minutes.I keep saying though, beautiful facility no doubt.Amazing Clemson in only the 2nd season of exitance is the only women's team to have their own facility where as all the other ACC teams are sharing with the Soccer team and for the men some times Football team like Syracuse and Duke some times

Yes they did. Tge draw ended almost even. We're a young team, they are too, but we'll learn from the film. We actually played a good match. We were too amped up at the start. But uva picked up on some bad tendencies we have on D. We overplay and get beat. That's easy to learn from film.

Where was Byrne and hilcoff? I was watching both lax and softball. Wish we'd have coach interviews.

Our womens lacrosse facility is a huge deal.

As you said, it stands out among lacrosse facilities in a conference known for great lacrosse. It’s already paying huge dividends in recruiting.

I have always thought that UVA was known for their Lacrosse. I would just assume they had some advantage.

Dude....

We were never down 5-0.
We had more draw wins than UVA.
We were down 3 starters.
We had a better penalty shot ratio than they did.

Turnovers are what killed us. That, and being down 3 starters on offense, including both feeders.

Ok 5-1. Point is UVA got off to a hot start

Also they had more draws in the first half which led to most of their early momentum. That’s what I was remembering more.

So looks like we ended with 4 more turnovers than them. Is that a big differential normally? Cause it seemed they had a decent amount as well.

Do you think we would have won with the starters in there?
