Kinda depressed this AM, looking at Facebook

Oct 10, 2016, 11:24 AM

What I consider to be one of the worst exchanges I've ever watched between two political candidates is being hailed by so many of my friends as their favorite part. (The part where Trump threatens Clinton with jail)

What he said is so fundamentally against what America is supposed to be, in my view. I just can't believe so many people liked it. Hate is a strong word, and I tread lightly with it. But people have just gone overboard with their negative views on Hillary Clinton. They're out for blood. Mr. Trump, in front of millions of America, to her face, called her "the devil". And millions cheered.

I disagree with Hillary Clinton on the strongest of terms, on just about every issue. But I do not hate her, and I don't think she is the devil, and I think we should accept, even if begrudgingly, the results of due process that resulted in her not being prosecuted.

Ironically your handle is Tiger Woods. That's gold.

The Obama Administration has kept Hillary out of jail, although I am not sure jail time is what she needs, probably a public rebuke, some sort of hefty fine and a law license taken. Something of those sorts. She did commit a crime, its just Obama Administration has to keep her out of public rebuke so that she can win an election.

Democrats should have put Biden on the ticket. Not sure why he wouldn't run. If I am being honest and thinking of my 401k, I would have voted Biden over Trump. There, I said it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

She doesn't have a law licence

Oct 10, 2016, 11:33 AM

She hasn't had one since 2002.

Re: She doesn't have a law licence

Oct 10, 2016, 11:37 AM

Well, then fine her to banish her from running for public office. Whatever is the best option.

She has made 100's of million being in the public sector, which makes zero sense, but she has, so a hefty fine would be in order.

Thanks for the TD. Love you too baby!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There should have been a way to banish both of these people.

Oct 10, 2016, 11:39 AM

But banning political crooks would mean we'd have no one left. #amiright?

If Clinton wins, hopefully Mr. Trump will go by the wayside, and things will get back more to normal, the same way people have been talking about President Obama for 8 years.

If Trump wins, hopefully at least I won't hear constant negative stuff from my friends.

What would your friends say about you if they saw all these posts criticising them? Or as you say, making you sad.

I'm not criticizing them.

I'm just observing the things they are saying. I understand why they feel the way they do...I just wish they didn't feel that way. Most of them are much better people than me.

Let me correct/clarify.

Oct 10, 2016, 12:24 PM [ in reply to I'm not criticizing them. ]

I apologize for making an incorrect statement.

I am criticizing them, insomuch that I am saying negative things about their words and actions. But I do not and will not make any negative judgments on their character, because there are none to make. Again, they are better people than me...we just see things differently.

The business down the way from me has a big Trump sign in the window. Why would you do that, one way or the other? It'd be like Wal Mart doing away with the electric scooters and publicly shaming the people who want to use them.

Oct 10, 2016, 2:26 PM

Went to Wal Mart in Tanger Outlet (think Easley or maybe Greer) the other morning at about 1:30 because near airport and on the way home. I needed some DEF for my truck.

There were 3 mid 20's healthy looking dudes riding around the store on the little scooter things, one with a kid in his lap. And I'm not sure how Wal Mart can stay in business keeping hours at this time of the night and staffing the place with so few people. There was mass theft going on. On the walk back to the auto section I saw two people stuffing merchandise in their clothes.

Oh, for RobertN, ANECDOTALLY, of course.

Oct 10, 2016, 12:47 PM

Law and order is how Sec. Clinton was not charged. We may not like it, but that was the result of the law and order.

What Mr. Trump is proposing is ignoring the work of the law enforcement agencies and executing a personal vendetta against Sec. Clinton, because she is his political opponent. Why else would he want a special prosecutor, just for her? What is special about her, except the fact that she's running against him in an election?

legal and judicial system as they are rendered, and then perhaps tweaking the way things work if you believe that there has been an aberrent result.

It's NOT deciding you don't like the result of a legal decision and then deciding to keep trying over and over again until something sticks.

But Trump has said a few things that suggest that he thinks the President has a lot more control of the judicial process than the office actually does. We are witnessing a candidate who is, himself, no more up to speed on the political system than the stupidest of his followers.

Here's the relevant part of the FBI director's statement

Oct 11, 2016, 7:02 AM

https://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/statement-by-fbi-director-james-b-comey-on-the-investigation-of-secretary-hillary-clinton2019s-use-of-a-personal-e-mail-system

In our system, the prosecutors make the decisions about whether charges are appropriate based on evidence the FBI has helped collect. Although we don’t normally make public our recommendations to the prosecutors, we frequently make recommendations and engage in productive conversations with prosecutors about what resolution may be appropriate, given the evidence. In this case, given the importance of the matter, I think unusual transparency is in order.

Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case. Prosecutors necessarily weigh a number of factors before bringing charges. There are obvious considerations, like the strength of the evidence, especially regarding intent. Responsible decisions also consider the context of a person’s actions, and how similar situations have been handled in the past.

In looking back at our investigations into mishandling or removal of classified information, we cannot find a case that would support bringing criminal charges on these facts. All the cases prosecuted involved some combination of: clearly intentional and willful mishandling of classified information; or vast quantities of materials exposed in such a way as to support an inference of intentional misconduct; or indications of disloyalty to the United States; or efforts to obstruct justice. We do not see those things here.

To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences. To the contrary, those individuals are often subject to security or administrative sanctions. But that is not what we are deciding now.

Re: Here's the relevant part of the FBI director's statement

"To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences. To the contrary, those individuals are often subject to security or administrative sanctions. But that is not what we are deciding now."

What does that mean? That it's inconvenient to decide anything at this moment? So we're not going to hold the person running for the highest position of power in our country accountable? Someone, as former Secretary of State, supposedly had no idea what a C meant on a document?

Meanwhile the FBI withholds 302s, redacting information they find irrelevant. Our congress has to issue a subpoena, a SUBPOENA to the FBI for those documents. This is unprecedented. And for such an unprecedented event, the FBI and DOJ seem to have a keen interest in what information is released from those documents. I'm as far from a conspiracy theorist as you'll find, but something smells awfully fishy about this whole situation.

Someone who is held to a different standard than us peons who would be fired/in prison in a heartbeat for doing a fraction of what she had done? I have family that work in government who are astonished at how much is being swept under the rug...and then for anyone to say it's just political theatre? Absurd. I don't like either one but anyone not named Hillary Clinton would have been in serious trouble for her carelessness.

We live in a time where violence is plaguing our inner cities. Riots form as a result of a supposed overreaching of law enforcement. Violence persists because people don't believe there to be proper checks and balances in policing power. They're held to a different standard. When you have the chance to show the world that NO ONE is above the law, nothing. Nothing is done. Not even a slap on the wrist.
