I see some jealousy here. Surely it can’t be that offensive if it’s not your money. I’m personally on the fence about giving but not opposed to it. 110 has really saved our #### and given us a chance to have a special season. Would love to see one more Natty. So tell me…why you mad??

It's ridiculous that so many TNetters who want free market capitalism in their personal lives and business want to be communist control freaks when it comes to what college athletes make.

And hypocritical that these athletes are called students and that we continue this charade of calling it college athletics. Football should be siphoned off and let the colleges own these minor league teams for the money and continued pageantry, but this is no longer scholarships for student athletes to earn a degree while playing a sport.

Really? I have one playing D1 as well. College has always been a farm league for the NFL and they have always been paid. Just not out in the open. There use to be 3 teams that could win a Natty now there are more. The transferring around to the highest bidder sucks but hopefully that will get fixed.

Let’s start treating it that way and drop the college student schick. For those who qualify for admittance, great, let them pursue their education, but the others can learn life skills that they may not have gotten in grade school or from home that will help them not squander the large sums of money they are getting in college and later in the NFL.

Qualified for acceptance at Clemson University? It has been a charade for years and it has just gotten more ludicrous with the NIL and the soon to be revenue sharing.
And did I say Clemson has to give up the money? You pass yourself off as some kind of legal scholar on NIL, but then you can’t even comprehend what you are reading.
Stop the joke and let the football players get paid, and Clemson get its money, and the fans cheer for the team as a separate entity wholly owned by CU and providing everyone with what it is and not with the wink, wink, nod, nod that we are supporting student-athletes in amateur athletics.

They were paid roughly 200k for 4 years of playing football before the NIL crap. Treated like Kings on campus, given advantages no other student was given all the while 95% percent attending a school if not for the ability to run fast or being born abnormally large, they would have never been accepted to

and to a point you are correct. However; a) the Swift concert is a one time deal, IPTAY, then tickets, plus parking and travel and food etc... makes $2500 a year an absolute deal if you want to bring a family of 4 to Clemson games b) remember the NIL is ON TOP of the IPTAY/tickets etc... so let's say you're already stretching to make $6k for tickets etc... for a family of four. Now they want a recurring 5k to pay the players? Tough sell, especially the way the economy has been recently.
Like the Green Bay Packers, who bragged about a '50 year waitlist' on season tickets when the economy bottomed out in '07/'08 they found that the list of people who could actually PAY was a LOT smaller.
Clemson isn't a big school and doesn't have limitless alumni. They cannot just simply continue asking for more because eventually the answer is 'No'.

No need to reconsider. If not for excessive amounts of money by those that love it so much that tbey aspire to have way more than what would ever be needed, then this issue would not be happening. So as with all scriptures, it's all about interpretation of said scripture. So my interpretation is that at the root, is exorbitant amounts of money. No theory to prove or disprove either of our opinions. This is probably also the reason for so many religious denominations. It's all about how it impacts you personally.

What concerns me is the impact on the sport itself. We’re already seeing a significant disparity between the “haves” and “have-nots” due to differences in conference revenue from TV deals.
The SEC and Big Ten already hold a massive advantage over the ACC. Now, with athletes potentially receiving tens of millions, most schools simply won’t be able to compete financially. By “most,” I include even programs like Clemson, which lack the resources to match wealthier institutions.
This trajectory isn’t sustainable if the goal is to preserve any semblance of parity in college sports.

I’ll tell you. I watched as many Clemson games as I could this year. Times out the rest. Couldn’t care less about bowls. Slept through most games of playoffs due to lack of interest. Two years ago I centered my week around games. That’s how little I care now due to paying players. I hope the whole system collapses
