Things to work on for the 2013 season....

Jan 2, 2013, 8:25 AM

1) Improve kickoff coverage or find a way to kick it into the end zone.

2) Develop secondary depth. Get the 3 injured guys healthy.

3) Figure out how to get all the LB talent in the right position so the best guys are on the field. Steward/Anthony need to make a big splash next season.

4) Remain committed to developing the running game with the RBs now that Ellington is gone.

5) Continue good backup QB development.

6) Figure out how to coach better against SCAR's defense and GT's offense.

I'm sure there are more,...

ability to keep their run game in check.

4. Our OL n' blocking schemes seemed virtually non-existent at times! Boyd had to do magic as soon as he was snapped the ball! Ellington being gone makes me just as worried about run game.

5. Always!

6. Yes. I wish we were as prepared for Spurrier as we were for LSU.

More things to work on:

1. Recruiting in SEC territories.
2. Recruiting athletic offensive linemen with AWARENESS.
3. Continue to get defense all in with regards to rushing the passer HARD every play.
4. Convincing Dabo he's not meant to be where he's from.
5. Making sure Chad Morris is getting the best sammiches!

LB will be a definite strength in '13. The secondary should be improved after getting Jenkins and Robinson back. We're in very good shape at RB--an embarrassment of riches, really. QB is looking very solid, especially if Watson comes on board in '14. SCar's wave has crested. GT? Pfffffbt.

with kearse and hopefully baker coming in we should be good in the secondary.. especially with Blanks going back to his actual position..

And we've got some very good young talent in development. I'm one who actually believes the secondary will be better by attrition. That's not a very nice thing to say, but that's how I see it.

The thing about GT.....

Jan 2, 2013, 9:55 AM [ in reply to Re: Things to work on for the 2013 season.... ]

is that we still haven't shown that we can really slow down their option, although BV did a little better than Steele. And the game is at GT next season. I have a feeling that BV will figure out a way and we'll be better equipped to stop it next season. But until then, that game will induce a bit of nervousness.
On our conference schedule next season, I'm convinced we'll own everyone, with the FSU game at home being a big one. The game at GT would probably be the other one I would be concerned about, perhaps keeping a watchful eye on the game at N.C. State. Pretty sure we'll just pound everyone else.
Then there are the UGA and SCAR games...can't wait to get after it.

I agree with your list. However one of the main things I think the coaches need to work on is making this team physical. I think they did a great job of that before the LSU game and we witnessed the results. We need to have that same toughness every week regardless of opponent. If you go back to the Ford days, not everything was perfect, but the one thing that was never question was how physical Clemson was. All that comes from the manner in which you prepare. If practice is hell then the games will be a cake walk. Just my opinion. I think the Tigers have turned the corner now they just need to keep the momentum.
