Just a thought about Clemson coaching staff.

I was going to call this post "Point to P___der" but I'm too busy to go find a photo.
Clemson is paying a ton of money for assistant coaches. Looks like virtually every assistant is making 1 - 2 million bucks.
What is Neff and the administration thinking when they approve these salaries?
Case A: Well, we have to pay them in order to try and stay competitive. We hope the boosters will understand and come up with the money somewhere. We know we are losing 40 million bucks a year to SC, so we have to figure out a way to keep up with them. If the other sports suffer, well that's just the cost of doing business.
Case B: In 2 years we will be in the SEC/B1G and we'll have 40 million bucks more than we have now. Paying these coaches is no problem. Sure, Dabo. Paying those coaches these bucks makes perfect sense. No problem.
I say case B is far more likely.

It is a lot of money! I understand that they are on contracts and could easily be bounced at any time and the amount of years they put in making pretty much nothing, but to have several coaches on the staff making $1 million+ is crazy to think about.

Funny how fans rant about hiring “the best, most experienced” coaches, then question how much it costs.
We have plenty of money. We will continue to have plenty of money no matter what conference we’re in.

It's certainly not the rationale of Case A, because we're not trying to catch up with SC - they're trying to catch up with us....

Good points Bret. In context with the amount of money that is thrown around in major college football, a million bucks for a coach isn't that big of a deal (sounds pretty stupid, doesn't it). Unlike head coaches, I am not sure that these position coaches get more than a two year contract. In that case, you are not committing such long term money.
