The last time I walked behind Tillman to check on my old freshman room from '73 it was still being used a couple of years ago. I was there when they were building the student center underneath. I hated that jackhammer going off at 8:00 in the morning.

and they stayed in Johnstone. I'd never really been in any of the dorm rooms as I always lived off campus while attending Clemson. As I was walking up the stairs to the top floor where they were assigned their rooms I had the distinct feeling that this building may have been great back in the 70's but it was really bad in the 2000's. The 14 year olds were all excited about staying in the dorms on campus. As he was unpacking the door to the room started to slowly close. As it did, on the back of it someone had drawn a huge cartoon peni$. As I opened the door back up and proped it open with the trash can I thought to myself, welcome to college.

I lived in it in the 70's. It was a dump then. We had no AC my first year. I had a poster painted with Dayglo paints and they kept flaking off. One night I squashed a cockroach. It oozed dayglo green. So they were eating the paint

Lived in E-505 my freshman year '69. 85/90% of us were "#### Yankees" from North of the M-D line. It was a "suitcase college" back then and the campus was a ghost town on weekends, so we had to make our own "entertainment on weekends. As the statutes of limitations is in effect, let me relate some of "events"...
1-Late weekend nights after a few brews, we would get hungry an build bond fires in the hall storage room and grill hotdogs,
B-How about taking the room closet doors, putting them sideways in the "common" shower room, sealing the drains and "viola"...in dorm pool...
2-Here's a good one...55 gal drum filled with water and leaning up against the residence monitor's door as his "morning "wake up"...
5- Even better...late night, lighter fluid down the entire E-5 hall ways (it was an "L" shaped hall) and extra under the RA door. Then light the fluid...awesome...with 2 & 5, we went through a lot of RAs,
3-Take the fire hose and flood the long hallway (facing Norris Hall Frat house) and go bare ### paying homage to Simon and Garfunkel and just "slip sliding away" (note: avoiding the steel floor expansion joint was a trick you had to master)...

We were called to Dean Cox's office several times that Fall, but as they couldn't pin any of the "juvenile actions" as he described them on any one student, for the Spring semester of '70, E-5 hall (those that didn't flunk out of the Fall semester) was put on probation. BTW, it wasn't "SECRET" as we all were required to sign in/out for classes, study, meals and going home!
..got a ton more, oh, oh...just one more...
Mostly on football weekend...5 guys sitting in the individual crapper stalls....wait for some unsuspecting visitor to sit in the 6th stall. Signal from one of the 5 stall guys who all flush at the same time. Shi**er lines can't handle a 5 flush and guess where the water/shi* backs up to...yep, Shi**er #6!
Ah...the memories...Senator Bluto Blutarsky would be proud!

On my hall we had a good group of guys, and I enjoyed my time there (mid-70'2). Last two years were in Lever Hall (6D-5) with an even greater group of guys. Back then if you weren't studying, you would leave your door open and you met just about everyone on your floor. Tons of fun at CU.

Our son's dorm at Marshall had fire doors that auto shut, and a private bathroom. So he and his roommate never met anyone on his hall.

We kept our door open and were at the intersection corner, so we had lots of social activity and a wet bar, and two mini-fridges of beer and bologna. Room C-820, three years.

Now, if only the bathroom stalls had doors and the showers had dividers, then it would have been like a nice prison. You talk about feeling exposed to the world.

I lived in section A and the A annex from 82-84. It was a dump with a sink in the room and gun racks with curtains for closets 😆 but it was a great location with a lot of memories. I definitely prefer that side of campus. Moved to Riverbank commons for the next 3 years. I loved it there and loved having my car parked right outside. I much preferred living off campus.Riverbanks was a zoo.
