Jameis innocent?

Dec 24, 2014, 10:37 AM

Long but telling article. Includes legal docs and findings.

Not sure what to think now. (Although his on campus outburst doesn't help)

Yes chopchat is an unbiased source for info on Jameis

Dec 24, 2014, 10:45 AM

Maybe you can post some articles from the Washington Post about how great Obamacare is to prove us wrong about that too.

The guy worked for the Times. And I read the documents, not based on his commentary. Read the legal docs. No wonder he was aquitted

There is no case against him. I have to agree with Jimbo, "innocent until proven guilty."
This is the United States of America. As much as I think FSU is a classless program, I definitely do not think they should punish Winston for something the legal system has cleared him of.

Take the alleged rape off of the table

Dec 24, 2014, 10:48 AM

Which I doubted from the beginning, and he is an immature child that should have been launched back to a juco or 1-AA program to learn a lesson or two instead of coddled by an enabling culture that has no soul or character. I have zero respect for Jimbo or that administration at FSU. They embarrass the ACC and CFB and I hope the Ducks pound them into oblivion.

Now this I agree with. Good post.

he's still an immature arrogant #### that would have been kicked off clemson's team long ago and that's the way it should be.

Kicked off for what??

Stealing $30 worth of food??

We have a player on our team that was convicted of home invasion.

Yeah we can't really throw stones here in our glass house

Dec 24, 2014, 9:11 PM

No program is perfect, of course, but we have had a few guys stay on the team after some pretty serious incidents.

It's been pretty clear that he was innocent for a while. I

Dec 24, 2014, 10:49 AM

was sure he was a rapist before but then I really looked into it and really looked at that girl and started to realize it was just another media created ##### storm. The girl lied atleast 3 times possibly more but that's all ive seen, she was not drunk or under the influence of any drugs when tested at the hospital, her friends screwed her by telling different stories than her and supposedly one actually let the cat out of the bag saying that her boyfriend was at the bar and they got into a fight (confirmed) and she left with jameis winston to get at her boyfriend and after the deed was done she realized jameis winston didn't think of her as anything more than a one night stand and she just ruined everything with her boyfriend so she resorted to this as a way out. Then her aunt came along and it went from justice for erica kinsman to getting her aunts name out there creating the biggest story possible. The girl wants this to be over but her lawyer aunt has taken it way past the point of no return.

It is similar to many "rape" cased I worked when I was in CID. It becomes rape when Daddy, Mamma, husband, or fiancee finds out about it.

Poor Jameis

Dec 24, 2014, 12:28 PM

He's such an outstanding young man, an ambassador of integrity and virtue, so misunderstood. FSU is an institution whose reputation is flawless and worthy of our awe and respect. It's terrible the way this good Christian young man has been vilified by so many. He certainly has found a supportive, comfortable place in Tigernet. Why not offer up your daughter as an escort for this good young man? Seeing you already believe he's as good as Jimbo has been saying all along? #poorjameis

Disagree with a bunch of this.

The most telling thing, to me, is that the Tally PD did such an awesomely bad job of conducting an investigation that the waters are thoroughly muddled...but there's still a ton of smoke there.

Ho-shaming after the fact is one of the most common - and appalling - features of rape cases; there's always a legion of voices on hand claiming "she deserved it".

She reported it the very night the incident allegedly happened. She had a rape kit done. She did not know the name of the man who allegedly raped her, which means there's no financial motive.

That is a very brave and humiliating step, and one that women seldom - I'm tempted to say never - fake unless they're convinced something happened (unless, again, there's a financial motive...which there just wasn't. It wasn't until months later she ID'd Jameis Winston as the suspect - and his DNA indeed matched.)

To me that is strongly indicative that Jameis Winston was something less than a gentleman that night. Whatever happened in that dorm room, she came out instantly claiming rape - without ever knowing who he was (he was just an unknown redshirting freshman at the time, and she didn't know his name anyway). Which means, again and again and again...there was no financial motive.

Something went very bad in that room. Both parties seem to agree that this was triggered when Winston's roommate Chris Casher came into the bedroom and started filming them. She apparently did not like this. Winston's corner says she got over it. She says she didn't.

Women just do not go down to the cops and file rape charges against a stranger and submit to a rape kit unless something happened. They just don't. The vast majority of women who actually are raped never file charges precisely because doing so is so freaking humiliating and scary.

You think the next woman who's raped by an FSU football player will go anywhere near the Tallahassee cops? I certainly don't. RB Karlos Williams became an object of interest when his girlfriend moved out of his apartment after she posted pictures of herself covered head-to-toe in bruises...but when Tally's finest went to "investigate", she not only wouldn't press charges, she wouldn't even talk to them. Instead she dropped out of school...and moved out of town.

That's the climate this has created down there. And that's maybe the most criminal thing of all.

Yup...

The article also fails to mention the reasons for the "old bruises and marks" on her elbows...

The girl played volleyball in high school... I am sure those girls never get bruises (sarcasm)

Dec 24, 2014, 10:29 PM [ in reply to Re: Jameis innocent? ]

The thing is that the Tally PD is not the only one who investigated the case. Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement and the Florida attorney generals office investigated the case. You know they were not all Nole fans. More than likely there were some Gators and Hurricanes in the mix who would have loved to hook Winston up.

Re: Jameis innocent?

Dec 24, 2014, 5:31 PM

As much as I hate to admit it, I do believe that law enforcement followed proper procedure in handling the case. It is my personal opinion that Winston probably is guilty of what is alleged. It is also obvious that not enough evidence exists to prosecute him for it.

Dec 25, 2014, 3:16 PM

It does seem to based on facts more than the other "opinion" pieces railing against the tally of or university.

To me, seems like he is innocent, based on those facts. I don't think we should post her pictures or shame her because we obviously don't know what happened, but I do feel bad for my own rush to judgement.

Does that make me a coot? No, it makes me the opposite- a reasonable person. Just because I diskike him and Fsu doesn't make him a rapist.
