There is video on one of my recent posts if you'd care to see what happened. I was at home that day and saw it as it unfolded live. Debating whether it was technically a planned insurrection or not may be a legitimate argument, but there is no debate amongst rational people as to whether or not the Capitol was violently breached.
I can certainly understand why some folks may want a revisionist history of this event.

Ah yes. I remember it well. The day a bunch of clowns thought Trump was going to lead them to the Capitol but instead coward at the White House. A day to remember that the United States can no longer claim we have peaceful transitions of power. A day of national embarrassment that weakend US leadership through out the world.

There is zero to look back fondly on that day. It wasn't the worst day in our nation's history by a long shot, but it was a most disgraceful day and Donald Trump certainly bears some blame for what happened and shoulders all the blame for sitting idly by watching the events unfold on TV.
Donald Trump had every right to challenge the election results in court even if the evidence of massive fraud was not apparent.
However, Donald Trump put himself above the country by refusing to accept the legal decisions handed down and what I saw on Jan 6th pissed me off and was indefensible. What transpired should have been enough for Trump to never win office, but Biden(people behind the curtain) sucked so bad, he managed to win again.
Two things can be true. One can be totally at odds with Biden-Harris, which I was and am, but totally detest the events of Jan 6th and not respect or vote for Trump.
Many of these people were just idiots and voyeurs, but the morons that broke into the Capitol and attacked the police and threatened Congress and Pence are anything but patriots and deserve long jail sentences, not a pardon.
As I have said before, I wish the Capitol police had introduced some lead to the violent ones and put down this mob, before they ever gained entry into the Capitol.

Trump spent months signaling that he was not going to accept an election loss. And after he lost - and yes, he knew he'd lost legitimately, as people around him were telling him - his team launched dozens a nonsense lawsuits. He then started pressure campaigns against state & local officials, bullying them and trying to get them to fraudulently tip the election to him. Then, he had his team directing people in the various states to submit fraudulent fake "electors". Then, his final act was to pressure Mike Pence, and he set off the whole thing with "be there, will be wild" and his speech on J6 itself. His mob was going by what they thought he wanted. And if Pence/Pelosi/Shumer & some others had not gotten out of the capital that day, they very likely would have been killed.
It wasn't that Trump was too weak & inactive on J6. It's that the crowd was doing what he wanted. He set it in motion for months, and that specific day was just the final act.
He should not only not be back in office. But he should be in jail.
