He had been the guy that had an offer from us the longest. Grisham threw everything at him
Now I expect Clemson to start offering nationally known guys, but it will be too late
And then we’ll start offering local kids who have offers from lesser schools
We’ll always get a few top guys every year. But the reality is that we’re gonna be in the 15-20’s in recruiting rankings. And if we don’t hit on a QB that can elevate those guys, we’re going to be 15-20 in the season rankings

And how many years ago as that? And how many of these underrated guys we took chances on never did anything? I can probably name 10 off the top of my head in the last 4-5 years

Do you think it is at all possible some of the "lower ranked" recruits could actually turn out to be really good if not better than some of the higher ranked recruits? It happens too often that people get caught up in the number of stars that are next to these kids names.
At the end of the day none of them have college experience. Some of them are going to develop quicker than others. Not to mention plenty of times these recruiting sites get the rankings flat out wrong. We could go through the history of recruiting from any team in the country including Clemson and see where higher ranked guys were busts and lower ranked were stars. Happens every year including the QB position.
Clemson 25 class has the top recruit from SC + VA, number 2 in NC, and plenty of other talent spread throughout the class. Everyone in here is talking like we are getting the same recruiting class as South Carolina. While we are not recruiting like UGA and Ohio state other than a couple years we never were. Clemson can succeed with high quality kids and good coaching. I continue to trust in Dabo.
But lets at least play the games this year before we start to claim we are barley a top 20 team

Some don't seem to understand that just because we want a kid doesn't mean he wants us. Money is a key driver and we aren't selling out like some schools. I'm fine with that. Let these whiners whine. Laughing at them is entertaining.

were far from our #1's the prior two cycles and look at those cats. Being more aggressive in the portal at WR would have eliminated both of them considering how late in the process they each were.
I don't stress about who we don't get as I know the ones we do are kids that the staff wants in the program and believes in. That's enough for me.

Reality is we will have Wesco Moore turner brown hanafin johnson Stellato Kelly most likely Williams and Randall back next year of course I’m sure some will transfer and while you would like to land mills we will be just fine literally no seniors of those guys listed

with 2 more years, and 4 other freshmen or sophomores, the numbers were not in his favor. Realizing playing time as a freshman and sophomore might be limited, he had reservations. With that attitude, he could be a likely transfer portal player in a year or two. We just don't know.
Travis Etienne, Trenton Simpson, Khalil Barnes, Tyler Brown and Antonio Williams were not our first targets. Dillon Alfred, who appears to be headed to Clemson, looks like he could be another outstanding choice.

To recruiting lately.
It sucks that we didn’t get our guy, but now more than ever a commitment doesn’t mean a whole lot. The kid’s going to a different school for now, before he’s done he could be going to five different schools.
Not the young man’s fault that’s just the nature of how things are now.
