A chop block and cut block are 2 different beasts. A chop block is illegal, a cut block is somewhat unethical. Some old school football enthusiasts would say cut blocks were for when real men played the sport. I don't have stats but I'm willing to say that cut blocking does increase rate of injured d linemen significantly.
