I can remember a moment in time, not too long ago, whenever a rambunctious Coach stood on the Tiger Paw in Death Valley and got overly excited about ending a 17 Game winning streak against the Auburn Tigers; the belief began.
I can remember a team that won 10 games in the regular season and was blown out by West Virginia in the Orange Bowl in an embarrassing fashion; we still believed.
I can remember a highly touted Tajh Boyd, Nuk Hopkins, and Sammy Watkins defeating a SEC juggernaut in LSU in the Peach Bowl; the belief grew stronger.
I can remember a highly touted team entering the field at Death Valley and being completely dismantled by an FSU team that would go on to win the National Championship in the 2013 Season; we still believed.
I can remember a 2014 squad that had the #1 Overall Defense in the nation that went on to dismantle Ohio State; the belief remained.
I can remember a 2015 team that went undefeated in regular season, defeated ND in a shootout in hurricane conditions, and stomped out Oklahoma in the semi-finals only to lose by an onside kick to Alabama. Guess what... We still believed.
I can remember the joy we all shared whenever Hunter Renfrow caught the touchdown pass in the final seconds of the National Championship game against Alabama and the belief turned into the expectation.
I can remember the years of Kelly Bryant and the promise of Trevor Lawrence to come; we still believed in the expectations.
I can remember the dominating win over Alabama that would send shivers down the spines of the likes of Paul Finebaum and Joel Klatt; along the way we forgot what it takes to get to the top of a very steep mountain.
Clemson faithful, we are spoiled. There's no denying it or even hiding it at this point. The accolades always precede expectations. However, a Championship team does not come overnight, and it takes sometimes multiple seasons to achieve that. Not everyone can be like Alabama and over sign classes, exploit the transfer portal, and get away with bribing recruits to Saban's auto dealerships. Some folks do it honestly and accomplish more with less. Not to say that we have less because our roster is loaded with an embarrassment of riches. However, it takes some coaching, training, conditioning, and a mountain of fan support to push a team to the heights that Clemson has managed to achieve against all odds. I think we should consider ourselves blessed to be Clemson Tigers and to witness the greatest era of Clemson football in its entire history. That has come to fruition based upon the belief and efforts of Coach Dabo Swinney. Let us unite and raise heck in the Stadium each week that we can and win or lose, we continue to love and support our beloved program.
There is something special in those hills at Clemson and I'd be dang if winning or losing a football game will change that.
GO TIGERS!

Imagine if you will that Coach Swinney has some experience at winning championships. Then imagine that he wants to develop some coaches that will be there with him for the next 15 years winning championship games. Coaches that he sees real potential in. I'll take a couple of seasons to win the National Championship game for 5 or 6 years in a row. Wes Goodwin has improved, and I see it. Garrett Riley won't need much coaching, the Defensive Line is still a wrecking ball, the Line Backers are still sharks, and the Defensive Backs are still making plays. There's a balance of coach and player development and maturity. While it only takes a season or two to mature a coach, it may take a player his entire collegiate career to mature him based upon age.
So, will we return to the playoff this season? Most likely not. However, I remind you that we played in two playoffs with a majority of 3-star players on the roster and great coaches. Dabo wants to develop players and coaches. There is nothing wrong with that whenever you develop loyalty along the way. I see a Clemson team in development that can win the Title for at least 5 years straight once they reach their ceiling. By team, I really mean program because of the coaches that we have. Wes is very intelligent and he is doing his best. Garrett will even improve as he stays with Clemson. Soon, Clemson will be untouchable in College Football. Just wait and see.

When credit is due, give it, and I give you credit for what you've said about Dabo wanting to build a coaching staff from within. IMO, he didn't have to dip within so much that it's left the staff as a whole with very little experience. If they stay long enough to get really good at their job, they will forget what Dabo done for them and be gone as soon as they're offered a few dollars more to bring what they learned under Dabo giving them an opportunity of their lifetime. There is loyalty like it was 20 years ago bc it has been thrown out the window for the me me me that people have turned too!!!!

I am tired of the coaching experience BS. Not sure why Dabo would hire someone that would not improve his resume. Look at it like they are getting better 1 game at a time, and I’m sure Venables and Dabo discussed the successor at DC at length. Austin seems fine and Grisham just doesn’t have the Joe’s to look very good right now.

I truly hate negative fans. Dumpers suck.
I was taking to a random guy at the tailgate last week and he started with the negative bs. I just turned and walked away without a word. I don’t need that negativity in my life.

Through Week 8 just last year we had the longest winning streak in FBS at the time at 14 games. Actually through Week 9 as that was an Open Date prior to Notre Dame.
It's astonishing how some folks just completely lose sight of what we're continuing to achieve here and insist on throwing our secret sauce out for the shiny NIL and portal toys that have been dancing about lately. Our foundation under Dabo isn't built on sand. It's rock solid.
Go Tigers!

Entitlement has taken over our entire culture. I never thought I’d see a National Championship in my lifetime (was 5 in 81). Heck I wondered if we would ever win the conference.
I can honestly say after winning it all in 16 & 18, if we go back to 8 wins (+/-), with an occasional playoff run I’m fine with that.
There’s a handful on here that were probably miserable until Renfrow caught that pass. There’s also a few on here with deniability when it comes to their disdain for Coach Swinney’s religion. And of course there’s the sheep that seeks J. Keller and Leon’s approval.
Not to sound like a hypocrite I fumed for days after the Scar loss, and I will again if we lose to the no talent 2023 bunch.
Buckle up y’all because a season isn’t decided after week 1 and after we whoop the Seminoles some should stay off the bandwagon.

I guess some of us got carried away and started to believe that it was here to stay. Fans need lower their standards now. Maybe we get hot again in 2027 or something for a couple of years. People need to chill out. Playoffs and National Titles don't matters. We sucked when Tommy West was around. People just need to think about that all of the time and not what we thought was built. Everyone come to Earth.

I remember when finishing in the top 25 was a dream and ACC championships were considered something from history (before FSU joined the ACC). My sophomore year, Clemson was picked to go 10-1 and went 2-9. This is by far the greatest era of Clemson football and I think we are still on the rise, though the years we could not get recruits on campus hurt us a bit. Klubnik and CV are winners and we will get back to the playoffs, perhaps this year, but certainly soon. Let the disbelievers say what they will.

I dont know brother, I never thought I would see another national championship in my lifetime. During the Tajh era I was content with winning the ACC every other year. I was on top of the world. Then we won the national championship in 16. It took a day or two for it to truly settle in that the Clemson Tigers were National Champions. I still vividly remember seeing my mom cry as Deshaun went out and took that final knee, and I knew what she was thinking because it was the same thing I was thinking. That I wish my dad was here to see it. Unfortunately my mom passed before the 2018 season so she didn't get to see Trevor win one. But Im glad she got to see one more. But im going to continue to believe even though on gamedays I overreact a little with my posts! lol. GO TIGERS!!!!

Then in 2019, we went to the natty and got stomped out by LSU. Bad play calling was to blame.
Then in 2020, we beat the usual ACC walking-dead, only to lose to OSU by 21 pts in the semi's.
Then in 2021, we couldn't score a single TD against UGA, barely beat Syracuse, got beat up by a mediocre NCSU, got beat down by Pittsburgh - no ACC title shot - Clemson goes on to a win against Iowa.
In 2022, having now cleaned-house of coaches Caldwell, Elliot, Scott, Streeter and Venables - and replaced them with a squirrely DC, a former player-turned-OL-coach who whiffed on 16x recruits last cycle, a WR coach that can't develop WR's and a now-former OC that couldn't develop a QB or an offense. Once again, slogging through the normal ACC dog and pony show, we lose to Notre Dame, South Carolina and suffer nationally televised embarrassment against Tennessee.
So far in 2023; Nationally televised BEAT-DOWN from Duke and a pants-sh177ing 1st half to Charleston Southern.
Football season starts over every year and Duke (with 2 5-star players on the entire team) bent this team over, week 1. Week 2 we played a glorified football team. More will need to be seen before some given "belief" is admonished.

If we had only made it to the 2015 Natty I would have been pretty happy. I remember saying to people “We are LEADING Alabama in the 4th quarter of the National Championship Game”. I thought that was amazing given our previous humiliation at Saban’s hands in the Kickoff Classic under Bowden. Everything else has been gravy. I didn’t have Dabo’s vision.

I for one believe that this team can still achieve all of its remaining goals. Beat FSU and the entire complexion of this season changes. A lot needs to happen over the next 10 days for that to happen, and it starts with the QB. He has the skills he just needs to settle down and play. Too many recruiting people outside of the Clemson program have raved about Cade Klubnik and his skills and high level potential for me to think he will be a bust like DJ.
I do have have some concerns about the coaching staff. Jury is still out on Goodwin. Feels like Dabo gave the keys to a Ferrari to a guy no one else would have considered for the D-coordinator job. If he can shut down FSU I will happily eat my words.
Other than Mike Reed, I do not hear much about other schools trying to hire away our other position coaches. There is nothing wrong with hiring experienced coaches for these roles. Saban has been ultra- successful changing coaches year after year. I get the idea of having a stable coaching staff year after year, but not at the expense of knowledgeable and experienced coaching.

I think the farther removed we are from the good seasons the harder it is because we don't have players that remember what that felt like. I also think that once someone like Dabo wins a couple he loses the drive to keep doing it. Heck, I don't think he ever had any expectations of ever doing it himself by design in the first place. Just my opinion. But when you get a DW and a TL with the cast he had around them things can just happen. I'm certainly thankful for the 2 championships. They were so much fun. But I truly believe it's doubtful we will sniff another one with the program setup the way it is right now.

most of us know what an ELITE NATIONAL TITLE contending team looks like and most of us see that we aren't that.............and then most of us saw us lose to Duke by 21.
Could we beat FSU?.......absolutely, our mediocre TB coached 2004 team beat #3 FSU after being taken behind the woodshed a week prior by Wake Forest, but that didn't make us ELITE.

TNet is a repository giving them a voice.
What you’re hearing are, 1. Trolls, 50% 2. the younger, entitled class. 40% 3. The bitter old men, the IPTAY entitled. 10%
Only one of these three buckets have anything invested in Clemson. My favorite response from the young entitled is something to the effect,
“I’ve given all my life to Clemson!!!! My parents taught there for 30-years!!!!” As justification for their whining tantrums.

Could be spot on ddraines in terms of sheer numbers, I have no way to tell. I would argue, however, that in regard to a “needed voice”, this would rest more so amongst group #3 (representing more than 50% of posts, and the real number to focus on), as the working class family raising group #2 has less time and plenty of other venues of which to voice opinion.

Wonderful post but there is a but. A lot of you wish every poster on the T-Net forum was a "pumper" . If your gig is being a favorite and racking up TU points, so be it, your right. But if it turned into that, T-Net would cease to exist.
Over the years there have been some really good intelligent and knowledgeable posters that quit T-Net because they'd get bashed for their opinion.
It used to be a great forum where people could have discussion about x and o's, give opinions on scheme, coaching decisions etc. That no longer exists. Any hint of, or perceived hint of questioning Dabo, his coaches decisions etc are squashed and down voted until they just quit. Personally, I miss the discussions.

clemgal are you the pot or the kettle? I call you flip flop. You didn’t want the basketball program questioned and loved you some Keller. Then you turned on him right before he disappeared. Now that the football program is having some struggles you’re back in his fan club. Your tune changes more than the weather.

Leave Clemgal alone. She’s got the most sense out of any of us on this board. Heaven forbid someone not have orange tainted glasses and have a fair, critical opinion/concern about this football team. Lol, we’re either labeled coots or JK basketball minions.

and entitled, and now, we have become them. It really is sad if we can no longer celebrate any level of success other than winning it all. Because, as Dabo and any amount of common sense will tell you, we and everybody else other than one school will be ultimately disappointed every single year if that is the case.

This team doesn't resemble any of those teams. Clemson's trajectory is on a downslope. They better hope they hold on to those committed wide recievers!

Until proven otherwise, I still believe we can be ACC Champs this year. The start has been disappointing, but count me a believer. The ACC competition has improved, so it would be quite an achievement.

Every freaking fan should read this and acknowledge the truth between every period comma and paragraph. TDS should be the order of the day. He77, I give it the POTD. Although that is an honor I have yet to achieve, and I have written some doozies, I'm not sure what it takes to have it bestowed. Amen brother or sister. Tell it like it is and make no apologies for doing so. I AM PAWSCLAWSANDBALLS, AND I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE!!!

College FB brings emotions out of people that is insane. I'm guilty as well from time to time. The older I get the more I appreciate every game I get to watch Clemson play. I remember getting excited for a Gator or Peach bowl invite. The one thing I know is this program is on solid ground as long as Dabo is the coach. There will be some years where the results aren't what we want but the good years are going to be many. He's made some mistakes and he knows what they are. The thing I know is he will fix what needs fixing.

Dabo is pursuing a "purpose over outcome" philosophy. His words not mine. Which includes hiring coaches that he knows a winning focused program wouldn't and ignoring a source of talent like the portal which guarantees our also ran roster. I listened to this spoiled BS during the tommy Bowden years. I know underachieving when I see it. I know dereliction of duty from a HC when I see it too.

I don't see it as dereliction of duty. If Coach Swinney wanted to burn the program down, he would actively try doing it by allowing players to do their own thing. Of course, I don't see Dabo as a man who would do something like that. If he wasn't happy at Clemson, I believe he would just resign and leave. I do believe he coaches with a purpose and that coaching style is what created a culture of winning. As I've said before, games are won with a clip board and a headset. Our coaches are young in their careers and will require some experience to develop. Take a look at what happened whenever Jeff Scott and Tony Elliott left the program. They're not doing well as Head Coaches. Brent Venables has roughly 10 years of experience over both of them, I believe. I could be wrong though. Dabo is a far cry from Tommy Bowden. His philosophy is much more focused on development of the players we recruit. Sure, UGA, FSU, BAMA, Colorado, and even Bethune Cookman can exploit the transfer portal and over sign classes to maybe win a playoff berth or even a National Championship, but where is their cultural identity? They have none; that's the short answer. Not to mention, they have no credibility in actually developing the players into championship caliber players. It doesn't take experience or talent to exploit the transfer portal or bribe players through NIL deals. I for one want Dabo to prove the national pundits wrong, and I believe he is on a mission to do just that. Someone on a mission to prove a point doesn't usually act as a derelict.

H isn’t paid to conduct a social experiment. He gets paid to win.
While the “culture” thing is always used as the basis for the plan, I’m not convinced it’s as relevant to recruiting as it once was.
Just my view. Only time will tell.
Think there is some division now? If FSU comes to town and repeats the “Jamis show” a la 2013 - woof.
