As upset as I am to lose to them, getting in the playoffs over them is very funny. Their season comes down to beating us. That is all they talk about for a whole year. no wbb talk, nothing. They would rather beat us than win a national championship because they know they have an actual chance. one game vs a whole season of work. I will take a national championship over a state championship any day. At least for another 30 years, until they make the rivalry close again.

I think they gave Texas an 82% chance of beating us, so let's say we have an 18% chance of winning our first game. Let's compare that to the coots chances of winning their playoff game this year. *Checks Google*......hmmm I guess that's 0%.

for playing in the cheese cracker bowl?
It's akin to losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament v. winning the NIT. The odds may be low but if you aren't in the real tournament, you have zero chance of winning it.

You were luckier this year. It's as simple as that. Y'all scored on busted plays because your QB has a horseshoe firmly planted up his ###. Any argument to the contrary is just ignorance on display.
But hey--I'm really glad Clemson gave you idiots something to watch on TV this year. Maybe you can learn something about big boy football.

In fact, you only led for less than two minutes the entire game.
If Cade sees a wide open Antonio Williams in the end zone on that final play instead of forcing the ball to Phil Mafah, the outcome is very different, but whatever helps you sleep at night princess.

If you thought UofSC had any REAL chance of getting in the CFP, you were simply setting yourself up for disappointment.
You had a better season than many expected, but you lost to both Ole Miss and Bama who were both ranked ahead of you in the CFP poll and both of those teams won their final games. The likelihood that you were going to jump them, or Miami and Arizona State for that matter, was remote at best.

Hmmm. Pretty sure SC fans, including you, argued last year that the only reason Clemson won was bc of a lucky scoop and score after an errant backwards pass ... that occurred in the first few minutes of the game.
You guys went on and on that SC shouldve won and were the better team but that one bad break.
First few.minutes, last few minutes (or minute) ... either last year Clemson was the better team (which I still hear we were not) or this year they were (won last year on flukey play early, lost this year on a flukey play late)

after losing to them.
That's funny ... bc if we are talking one year at a time, that's all we heard last year: that SC was really the better team and that Clemson got LUCKY on a single confusing backward pass play early in game ... that Clemson couldn't even score an offensive TD. Also, listened to SC fans say they were actually the better team this year verse LSU and AL and that they got robbed. So, based on your own fan base, I am not sure what people actually believe.
But, over the years (ignoring conference strength since its head to head you are talking about) ... won 7 of last 9 games. That includes during 2 national titles seasons in which Clemson beat SC. 6 CFP appearences, again during seasons when Clemson beat SC. Didn't get to playoffs last 3 seasons...beat SC twice, lost once. Then this year was a loss. Maybe it's a lot like SC games vs AL and LSU, huh? Maybe we just had a bad game, like SC did or were unlucky. Maybe not. That's not my opinion ... I think we got beat due to better coaching on SC side that day and a bad break on a tipped ball at the end (remember the LUCKY break we caught last year?),For me, SC had better team that day this year.
Who cares? Can't over focus on one year. BC almost no one can win them all in football and few teams do (Pitt beat us in 2016 before we won the national title ... and I wouldn't say Pitt was overall better than us that year ... but they were that night.)
Eventually if you go to CFP as much as Clemson has recently, it's gonna happen in a season on which your rival beats you (ask Ohio State, lol!). Recent trend definitely suggests more parity bt the two. Definitely don't like that!. But that's a different issue.
So SC loss stings. Absolutely. But in the grand scheme, losing to rival once out 7 seasons that you make.the CFP is probably a statistical likelihood.
Clemson did what it took to get in. Is what it is. Do I think we can win it all? Odds are against us, no doubt. But Clemson gets to try and find out. That's all that counts.

By your logic, Arkansas should have been in over Tennessee.
Michigan over Ohio St.
BYU over SMU.
Northern Illinois over ND.
Kentucky over UGA.
See where there’s a flaw in your logic?
It’s football, the best team doesn’t always win. That’s why the play the game.

Arkansas was 6-6 and Tennessee was 10-2
Michigan was 7-5 and Ohio State was 10-2
BYU was more deserving than SMU
Northern Illinois was 7-5 and ND was 11-1, also won in week 2.
Kentucky didn't beat UGA.
There are a lot of reasons to support those were legitimate upsets.
Carolina and Clemson were both 9-3 and the game was two weeks ago. There is a lot of evidence Carolina was just the better team.

Yeah. But now you are getting into a ton of subjectivity. I'm pretty sure a lot of fans from those schools would disagree with you and want in bc of their wins. That won't work.
Your point is silly. The system has NEVER been perfectly fair. Going from 2 to 4 to 12 didnt fix any of the flaws ... just expanded the number of arguments
They current system is flawed. Concur. But your conference leadership is responsible for it. And relax, very soon SEC and B1G will have their own league ... and SC can compete to get into its minor league playoffs.

genuine question. will the citrus bowl be south carolina's best bowl win? I think it may be better than the outback. From my knowledge citrus and the capital one are the same, but people will probably remember citrus for longer given the name that has been around since the '80s. I remember them going nuts for mayo a couple years back though, so that may be #1.

over a state championship.you wouldn’t know anything about either of those…or about a trophy. Couple of meaningless bowl game trophies, one SEC championship game participation trophy…that’s it. Do they dive trophies for division winners?
By the way, Clemson has now won a postseason game 14 straight years. SCAR can’t say that, and neither can anybody else…ever.
Enjoy that state championship…rent comes due next Thanksgiving.

Four teams will lose in the first round. We may or may not be one of those teams, but we are in it and you can't win it if you ain't in it!
Food for thought: Clemson has won at least one post-season game(conference championship, bowl, CFP) every year for 14 straight years. Eat your heart out.

a historic trip to Texas, first ever meeting with them. A chance to be part of the first ever 12 team playoff. ANOTHER playoff banner we get to put in Death Valley.
So yeah I would say it's a pretty cool deal.

The ##### entire existence has been a series of participation trophies.
Trophy Case = bowl games + ACC Championship in the 1960s
2-8 vs Clemson last 10 years w two wins by total of 4 points.
I’m ok if next 10 years go like last 10.
Bottom line is your are #####.

Sir, Ma’am, whatever you are, please, do not speak to us as if your opinion holds any weight. Your little program has never accomplished ANYTHING. EVER. Never, ever. Other than the conference title in 1969, the ACC conference title. That’s right.
For you to speak to Clemson fans like you’re even worthy or breathing the same air as we do, is embarrassing for you, and your fan base.
You got by our least talented team in a decade and a half on busted plays. And poor decisions by our staff. Participation trophy? Maybe your program should actually partake in like, anything, ever, before you judge your masters.

It could be a participation trophy, but we do have one, how about USuCks?
championship?
Or at the end of the day will your playoff berth just be a participation trophy?

I mean…..considering that we’re a program that’s done it before….combined with a staff that pretty much all been there and players that are fully capable……yeah…..I’d say we’re as capable as any team in the field. We have as good of a chance as Oregon crappin the bed and 0 sec team’s winning it.

It's just great Clemson is getting 6 million dollars and have a chance to win the game and go on for more. The nation will be watching. Basically nobody with be watching your game. South Carolina may never make a playoff game.

I’m curious if you really think South Carolina will achieve half the success Clemson has had in your lifetime. Spoiler alert, you won’t. The school is a dump academically, it’s in a horrible part of the state, and you always been mediocre with the exception of about six years. And in those six years you didn’t even manage to win a conference title, and you got stomped when you attempted it, and then got stomped by FSU. You guys win 9 games and suddenly you’re about to storm the college football world. We win 9 and it’s a down season for us.

Stupid coot. It’s not about winning the championship. We get paid $4 million being in first round and losing to usuck didn’t bleak the season even though it may seemed like it. If we don’t win we have 3 national championships already. I was at your little coliseum last week. Women’s basketball is the only thing worthy on display and who gives a cluck about women’s basketball. 😆

Clemson will have another Natty before the SEC. All Dabo needs to get is a solid DC. The players are there. I guess you missed the memo about Clemson having the fifth best roster this season. Clemson was a run defense away from beating Texas. Did you see how Cade and the freshman receivers shredded the all world/SEC number one pass defense? Did you also notice how Clemson was not intimidated to play in that environment? Go back and tell your chicken friends that Clemson will win it all in 2025. You guys are pathetic. You guys cannot win your own conference.

I think what really gets them is they didn't blow us out like they were saying they were going to....they barely squeaked by.....in fact, Cade should have put the game away because Williams was wide open in the end zone but he panicked and thew the pick towards Mafah.....it is what it is.

A game that Clemson should have never lost, But it is what it is. In spite of most must think, Clemson doesn't belong, but they got in. USC probably had there best record under Shane Beamer. Enjoy it. We all know that the Gamecocks will never get this close to the Playoffs again, Just watch next year. Everything will fall apart.

What if they do? What if they reload and Shane has them competitive like this each year? The CFP is only likely going to expand. If they get in and the field expands to 20, it means NOTHING. We were in when it was FOUR. The FOUR best teams. they’ll NEVER have that!

The lost cost us a bye and hosting a playoff game. I have to see Walmart coot gear being on full display being strutted around daily because we self-destructed and made their QB look like Superman and hear how they are ACC champions. Nothing funny at all IMO.

I don’t really pay attention to South Carolina losses……I mean, who has that much time? We only live for 80 years or so. I also don’t go to the beach and attempt to count the grains of sand, for the same reason.

I mean, they went decades without recording back to back wins against us until they won the 5 straight with Spurrier. To make it close in the next thirty years, they'll need a couple of 10 year win streaks just to get their winning % to 45%...
Seriously, '69 and '70 were the prior last back to back win years until 2008...
