But Luke needs to get this thing going.
I’m done giving him leeway for any reason, this is Clemson football, you better be able to recruit.
David Sanders, understandably just wants all the glory and deservingly so.
Sanders wants the money, he wants to win, and he wants to get drafted in the 1st round.
But no matter how shaky things have been recently for Clemson, this brand is still top-4 nationally.
These are the most successful teams of the playoff era
1. Alabama: - Appearances: 8 - Semifinal record: 6-2 - Championship appearances: 6 - Championships won: 3 (2015, 2017, 2020) - Championship losses: 3 (2016, 2018, 2021)
2. Clemson: - Appearances: 6 - Semifinal record: 4-2 - Championship appearances: 4 - Championships won: 2 (2016, 2018) - Championship losses: 2 (2015, 2019)
3. Georgia: - Appearances: 3 - Semifinal record: 3-0 - Championship appearances: 3 - Championships won: 2 (2021, 2022) - Championship losses: 1 (2017)
4. Ohio State: - Appearances: 5 - Semifinal record: 2-3 - Championship appearances: 2 - Championships won: 1 (2014) - Championship losses: 1 (2020)
5. Oklahoma: - Appearances: 4 - Semifinal record: 0-4
6. LSU: - Appearances: 1 - Semifinal record: 1-0 - Championship appearances: 1 - Championships won: 1 (2019)
7. Michigan: - Appearances: 3 - Semifinal record: 1-2 - Championship appearances: 1 - Championships won: 1 (2023)
8. Notre Dame: - Appearances: 2 - Semifinal record: 0-2
Lol, that should be shown to every recruit.

Can you "really" use the portal if there's not enough money available? $50K - $100K won't by much these days.

Clemson NIL is not going to pay a player upfront to play. Clemson has got to hang on for a couple more seasons until the current setup implodes and different national rules are in place. Once the playing field is level again, other school’s recruiters will have nothing to use against Clemson and it is game on.
Red dawg, are you happy and proud with the non-football side of your program?

When I say non-football side, I am talking about the off the field culture that Kirby has developed.

I believe in the adage that the proof is in the pudding. No program can sustain greatness for an extended period if there’s bad culture. Many users on this site have bought into the media hit job, which has proven to be a lie (there’s a reason you haven’t read much about that lately). But the fact that Kirby’s program has not merely withstood, but thrived in the face of such an egregious attack is testament to the strength of the culture he has built.

You’re totally right! Dabo had everything he needed to recruit Deshaun Watson! And everything for CJ Spiller as well!
There’s always going to be someone else who has some advantage over us, but it hasn’t stopped us before.

He used to be seen as the young, fun-loving, energetic player's coach who had a fun and exciting offense.
Now Dabo is the sometimes curmudgeonly coach who complains about NIL, refuses to use the transfer portal, and runs a decidedly less fun (or effective) offense.
We can talk all day about whether the criticisms of him are valid, but perception is reality. He has gone from a brilliant marketer who made Clemson football elite to a guy who seems out of touch with reality who has now made us an underachieving program.

You lost me at "curmudgeonly." So your perception, or reality as you put it, is recruits view him as an ill-tempered, difficult, and/or a cantankerous person that is negatively impacting recruiting? Have you spoken to a representative sample of recruits to form this opinion? Really???

It's way too early to judge the job he's doing.
If you want to hold someone accountable, make it Dabo. He's overseen our slide the last three years, all while refusing to use the transfer portal and complaining about NIL. Our last playoff appearance was four years ago.
For these reasons, we are no longer a top 4 brand nationally.
Until we are viewed as a cool program again, with a fun coach and innovative approaches to football, we aren't likely to get the best recruits. Heck, we weren't getting many top OL recruits when we were an elite program and playing in the playoffs every year.
I'm hopeful Luke will transform our offensive line, but let's allow him more time before we start accusing him of not doing a good job.

Yep wouldn’t have a thing to do with losing 2 generational QB’s. Have news for a lot of so called Clemson fans. We are not going to win it every year. Dabo is still a #### of a coach and has made some, what I hope to be, 2 great coaching hires on the offensive side of the ball.

Good post JK and accurate...bottom line is we are not much different than we were in our 6 playoff appearance days...defense still good to great...offensive line about the same...rb's about the same... we have missed on QB the past two starters in that they were/are decent/good but not NFL/college great qbs (deshaun and trevor were/are) and we missed on WR at the same time...we won both nattys because of defense and qb/wr!!! Period!!!
Neither have been anything close to being the same since then and neither have we!!!
I will add that we were excellent in the kicking game dueing that time feame also and recently that has become suspect too!!!

Its the unregulated pros. If we had UGA money we'd be buying players like UGA. Until this chaos get's reeled in get used to recruiting/bidding and playing within your means. Clemson will do even better than its budget limitations and expectations due to its superior coaching.

The difference isn't as big as you probably think it is. According to this site:
https://nil-ncaa.com/
in 2023/24, UGA's estimated NIL was $18 Mil while Clemson's was $15 Mil

They like to think of us as a poor school that just can’t compete with the money and flash of bigger schools. In reality, we have plenty of money. Our issue is an unwillingness by our football coaches to use all available tools at their disposal.

You can be certain that Sanders is well aware of all of those numbers. But keep in mind that the last time Clemson won a CFP game, Sanders was in the 7th grade. So in many ways, these numbers are ancient history to these kids. I don't mean to sound harsh, but that's how a lot of these kids see it. Also, when is the last time Clemson had an OL drafted in the 1st round? I think your last day 1 pick was Carmen in the 2nd round (when Sanders was in the 8th grade). That's also a big factor.
Kids like Sanders are making what will become multi-million dollar decisions, and that has NOTHING to do with NIL. For example, the difference between being drafted say, 5th vs 11th (just 6 spots in the draft), in just signing bonus ALONE is $10 Million. You can't blame them one second for putting a premium on draft history.
Luke is a good/great coach, and he'll do a great job at Clemson. But some things will take some time.

You can spend all the money you want to on a chick, make every offer or promise under the sun, but if she doesn't like you, she's not going anywhere with you. Same principle. Case in point: Gregory Thomas, a defense 4-star who chose FSU.
Now, his name is Gregory Xavier Thomas - as much as I LOVE our XT and would have loved to have another one to cheer for, I knew this guy wasn't actually coming no matter how hard he looked because he is both a florida native and a seminole indian...
They have to want you too, money only matters in a TRUE tie in top choices.

Man has been on campus for what, 8-9 months? And you’re ready to give up on him? And this comment with Jacob, Ware, and Byrne already committed? And I only count 2 seniors on current OL roster +\- 2?
I’ll have to put you into the group with the anti-Brownlee crowd, those now anti-Rittman, and football balloon proponents.
