It's not Clemson's fault for our schedule... but it ended up pathetic.

Clemson has a long history of making solid schedules and having a very good strength of record.
What is Clemson's fault, is that all 3 of the top-40 teams we played.... all 3 of them.... beat us. Two of them killed us, two of them we lost at home.
To make sure everyone understands.... I am not saying it's bad Clemson has no elite wins. That's fine. Not even top-25 or top-30 wins.
Clemson has zero top-40 wins. Please fully process this. That NEVER happens to us. Our rare schedule is hiding the truth about the true state of this program.
Everyone who says that "all we can do is play who is on the schedule" is right. That's all we can do. But if you lose to every team with a pulse, and beat a bunch of awful or bad teams.... then you need to weigh your opinion of the program without IGNORING that and acting like it's a normal schedule year.
It's not our fault that FSU fell apart, or that the teams on our ACC schedule were nearly all the worst teams in the conference. But it can't be ignored that's what happened. I guess you can ignore it if you want...
People get so mad on here over other people's opinions about how good a team is. That's ridiculous. If you think the team is going to win the national championship this year I think you are wrong, but I'm not going to freak out on you. None of you extremely optimistic fans yell as loud and as often as me when our team is on defense. I guarantee you that.

The idea that they could possibly sneak into the playoffs is obscene and is good reason to eliminate any sort of conference champion preferences. The ACC is now a joke. I’ve defended it for decades & I just can’t anymore. Ole Miss would probably beat CU by 3 TD’s.

Believing a 9-3 record, in a terrible conference and losing every meaningful game, is a good season is insanity.

Clemson v-2024 is a better-than-average team.
VA Tech and Pitt are average. NC State, back when we played them early in the season, had not yet reached ‘average team’ status.
Had our ACC schedule not ended up as arguably the weakest in-conference schedule in the entire ACC, then we’d have probably finished our conference record in the 5 - 3 area. Overall record in the 7 - 5 arena.
in order, SMU, Louisville, and GA Tech are better than us at this point. Miami (a lucky fraud all year long) and Syracuse are comparable to us. Pitt, BC, and VA Tech are weaker than us, but nevertheless would still have been a tough out that might pull off an upset (like Pitt almost did).
To end up in the ACC Championship game is a near miracle.
Maybe another miracle awaits us.

What are we supposed to do about it?

We have no power over FSU, NC State, VT failing to meet expectations. Or Pitt falling apart.
Next year’s schedule actually looks pretty tough
LSU Duke Syracuse SMU Florida State @ GT @ Louisville @ UNC @ BC @ South Carolina
But what if Cuse, GT, SMU, Duke take steps back next year? Again it’s not under our control

I tried to make it clear there is no fault for our schedule. It was bad luck.***
