teams, in the near future football scholarships will be increased from 85 to 105 and baseball from 11 to 31. While I agree baseball should be increased, the only thing the football increase will do it make the rich get richer.
1. 85 seems ample. That’s over seven teams. 2. Those players getting the additional 20 scholarships could be helping other schools who would love to have them. Remember before the 85 limit Majors at Pittsburg signed over 100 players just to keep his rivals from getting them. 3. Some schools struggle to be able to have enough funds for 85.
Between this, and NIL I do not think it will be long before there are only 10 - 15 teams that will have a snowballs chance.

What’s the point of having the best 86th player? 85 is more than enough. And if you thought players 50-85 were transferring a lot, just wait for players 86-105 start hitting the portal

IMO, that is the most important question, why are we paying for a player's education when a player is receiving huge NIL$$$ cash for playing college FB. Giving those players a free ride while providing them everything they need to compete in a game that they have nothing invested but their talent.
That would be like any of us getting a job and the employer giving us transportation to and from work, they also pay for our food, they pay for all of medical with prescriptions, and then they pay us a paycheck and we wouldn't have to spend a dime of it for the cost of living. Now that would be a great job to have..
Wouldn't that be an absolutely great deal for us to just go and do our jobs every day and not have to pay for our cost of living from our paychecks. College athletes get those types of deals and most of them leave school without their degree that was paid for by the school with a full ride scholarship, and they will leave school and leave those degrees on the table, what a deal to have.
NIL players should without any doubt have to pay for their schooling, and if they want to waste their investment for an education, then it's their lost and not a lost to the school that invested all that money on them by them leaving that degree on the table!!!

Making NIL players pay for school is illegal...

...under federal law, the majority of state laws, and the consent agreement in the Ohio vs NCAA case.
It's not going to happen. It's baffling that anyone would continue to bring it up.

"Players" are not getting paid. Some players are getting paid which is great for the economy because they pay social security and taxes. Somebody has to work so we can continue getting our social security checks.

the limit should be the limit no matter what. No extra walkon, grey shirt, etc. If it is 105 schollys, then it's should be 105 totally allowed on the team.

Back when there were no limits, Alabama, Notre Dame, etc. would hand out 110+ scholarships just to keep players off other teams.

Lots of guys that wouldn't start at a top school will start or get significant playing time elsewhere.

where does the playing time come from? With 85 scholarship players many aren’t getting playing time.
