I'll submit that we we should fire CBB right now. I love

Dec 22, 2015, 10:32 PM

Coach B, and no one other than his wife and kids wanted him to succeed here more than I did.

But guess what? That window has closed. CBB is not going to get it done. This is the worst team we've put on the floor since he's been here, and in the 8 years before that. And there is nothing but smoke and mirrors on the horizon in terms of players coming in. We've seen this movie 4 years in a row now.

Let's put it in context. It's year 6, which is kind of like year 9 in football. That's 1 year longer than we gave Coach Bowden. The parallels are undeniable.

Let's bring in somebody full of #### and vinegar to sell the hell out of CLEMSON and get fired up about winning some ball games. That will fill up the new arena and get the fire burning here again.

Not sure we can afford to do that...

Our AD screwed the pooch by giving BB a big extension and buyout when he hadn't achieved anything yet. Now we're paying big $$ for a garbage program where the players have quit and the fans can't bear seeing any more. Rough days for Clemson hoops.

it's less than half the face value of the contract.

Dec 22, 2015, 10:53 PM

It's a good buyout. Does anyone have any idea what a contract is?

We can't afford not to have that new arena rocking

either.

DRad should have had a read on how this season would unfold, so the question really is: who does the BOT support? I'm inclined to think both DRad and CBB are on their way out. We have to have A players in those roles to continue to elevate our level of success.

As near as I can tell, DRad has made two significant (not deserving of the "high profile" designation) hires. Brian Gregory as GT hoops coach, and Monte Lee. One a clear failure, and one that looks GREAT on paper, but unproven.

Dabo gives him credit, as he should, regarding the football facilities, but I think his value has been extracted at this point.

Who's Next?

Clemson Basketball... This is rock bottom

I too was in the Brownell camp when it felt like I was the only one. No more. We need to hit the reset button. This season is derailing fast.

I'll submit this; Who do you get at this juncture in time?

Come on fellas...look on the bright side!!
We haven't lost to Greer highs school, or central.
Jk. ..seriously, maybe it would do your health better to start watching the soccer team for the next few years.

Yeah, well...

Dec 22, 2015, 10:56 PM

screw that bs, son. I was there to watch Campbell, Davis, Forrest, Cash and Howling take us to within a half second of the Final Four. IT CAN BE DONE HERE. This mediocrity is unacceptable. Period.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nothing personal, but that's weak minded thinking. Who

Dec 22, 2015, 11:05 PM [ in reply to Re: I'll submit that we we should fire CBB right now. I love ]

knows, maybe Bo Ryan has a grandkid in South Carolina and wants to get back in the flow down here in Dixie.

Point is, you never know who might be a good fit. In my view, there is always somebody that's hungry and looking to elevate. It our job as leaders to find them, and I expect our AD and BOT to get that done. That's what winners do.

I think we should give him the rest of the season.

Barring an NIT bid, which is highly unlikely at this point, I think Brownell should be fired. This isn't cutting it, and there are no encouraging signs from this team. Brownell coached teams are typically hard working teams which are almost always competitive. This season, we are getting blown out when we shouldn't be.

Some will say that Brad deserves one season in the new Littlejohn, but the poor performance this year isn't simply due to playing games in Greenville. Unless a dramatic turnaround happens, it's time to go in another direction.

That's nice guy talk. So what if we make the NIT? So what

1

Dec 23, 2015, 12:56 AM

if we win 10 conference games? Those do not equate to progress.

I think we are complacent on basketball as a fan base, and we need to respect our program and university more than this.

As I've said all along, I love and respect CBB, but he has had his chance. This year needed to be a step forward to build up for the new arena.

Instead, we have a similar tentative, awkward team that does not have enough chutzpah to take a step forward.

Next.

The NIT would be a step forward from last year.

I didn't say that getting into the NIT would be the goal moving forward, but it is not unreasonable this year given the team's failed postseason efforts last year as well as the arena situation. The NCAAs would be my goal starting next year and every year after that.

I'm actually the only person here who has the guts to have the NCAA Tournament as the yearly minimum standard for Clemson bball. Everyone else says stuff like "I'd be happy making the NCAA most of the time." That is weak sauce.

Most people here are scared to actually commit to basketball as a university, in an unprecedented way. I'm not sure if the fear lies in somehow harming football, or simply the fear of failing when a true effort was actually made. Regardless, we need a collective shift in our thinking and support basketball consistently as an administration and a fan base.

Unless Brownell pulls a rabbit out of his hat, I will support his firing after this season. His replacement better be a big one.
