Serious question. What are you so happy about with Dabo?

This got buried in another thread, but it warrants its own from the cowpie-munchers who are just loving what Dabo has been feeding them for half a decade now, and are once again, after losing to the Coots, asking for more.
So. What are you so happy about with Clemson right now?
We are not national contenders and have no trajectory to be anymore. These are facts. This is not debatable. We haven't been Natty-worthy since Trevor left, and we are getting worse in all aspects of the game. So, you can't be happy about more national championships because that ain't happening.
We are no longer in control of getting into the playoffs. Again, facts. This would be considered the next rung down from the natty -- at least getting a shot at it. And, while we can certainly goof our way into the potential to get into the playoffs (see this year), whether we are in "control" of this is really a matter of whether a drunk monkey behind the wheel is really in control of the car. So, you can't be happy about playoff appearances because they're no longer even "likely."
Clemson atmosphere. Maybe you don't care much about winning. Maybe you just like showing up to the games, cheering on the tigers, and soaking up the atmosphere. So, I ask you...how are your parking spaces now? How about your seats. Can you afford to go anymore, or are you selling most of your tickets to pay for games where you can go? Do you like constantly getting hit up for NIL/IPTAY donations so players stay and we can build bigger facilities to support an upper mid-tier program? Because from where I'm sitting, it doesn't seem like this whole "atmosphere" is the same.
Clemson is staying true to the amateur purity of College Football. Okay, you got me here. This is one thing we can be proud of. The Dabo Experiment, even though it has produced laughable results on the field, has proven itself to be principled on the one thing that separated college ball from the NFL. Except we're paying Dabo Nick Saban money to produce Tommy Bowden level results. If this is the one thing you're happy about, we can get the same results for a fraction of the cost, and spend that money elsewhere. Does that make you happy, that we're making Dabo rich, so you can tell your FSU friends, "at least we're not buying players"?
Past results. Maybe you're in this final category. Wherever we're going (down), or whatever we're paying Dabo (a fortune), it's due payment for a few good years of Tiger football and you can go to your grave seeing two new national championship trophies in the Clemson case and that's all that matters. Well brother, I tip my cap to you.

I think you've got three categories of people in the sunshine pumper group. Here they are ranked by how prevalent I think they are:
1. Old people who remember Danny Ford and what happened afterward. After Clemson got rid of Danny Ford, they became a terrible team for decades. Hatfield, West, Bowden. Three bad hires that killed Clemson for 20 years. If you're 60+, you know that if Clemson fires Dabo and poorly chooses his replacement, they might never see Clemson in the national discussion again. That makes them very resistant to change. They don't want to risk a new hire, knowing what the downside is. You'll see this kind of fan point out Tennessee and USC's struggles to replace Fulmer and Carroll, or reference that we've won 9 games in X of the last X seasons, because that's better to them than the Tommy West days.
I personally think this is a short-sighted view. Yes, when we got rid of Ford, we sucked. But we also had a general refusal to invest in our program (Dabo makes 15 times more than Bowden did, even accounting for inflation). We don't have that any longer, and for the amount of money we spend on our coaching staff and NIL, we could find elite coaches and players if we played the new games. But I would say this mindset as a whole is pretty South Carolinian, so I don't fault these guys. Choosing the known quantity over the unknown is a valid approach to life.
2. True believers. This type of fan is a true believer in Dabo. He built the program being different from everyone else. They think that if we trust his approach, his philosophy will ultimately win out and we'll be competing for titles again. This kind of fan also thinks we are just one or two missing pieces away from competing for championships. You'll see this kind of fan point out things like: (1) "Two years ago, if we didn't miss that field goal, we would have been in the playoffs!;" (2) "How many national championship winning coaches are in college football right now?;" (3) "FSU uses the portal and what has that gotten them?;" and (4) "Next year we'll be returning X, so that's the year we'll put it together."
Hope springs eternal. That said, I think these positions are illogical and fail to recognize the changing landscape and environment of college athletics. We've been close to the playoffs a couple times since 2020, but that's a product of our having extremely weak schedules in the ACC. We're 2-7 against ranked teams during that time, with an average score of 18-31, so we haven't been remotely close to competitive against ranked competition in that time. Dabo was an amazing head coach during the old era of college football and did build the program up. But the strategies he employed during that time period no longer are effective, because players are going to care more about exposure, NIL, and championships than finding "mentorship" in their head coaches. And why wouldn't they? Also, remember that Dabo was not that well-paid, which freed up money to go to other things, like hiring Venables. Dabo and his friends and family now eat up $22 million a year in salaries, which does impede some of our spending. Finally, I agree that FSU's (or South Carolina's) portal strategy isn't ideal. They think they can replace their roster with portal players every year. But that is very high-risk/high-reward, and will often not work out. But every school in the country except for us uses the portal to replace weaknesses in their teams and fill in holes. We basically play with our hands behind our back.
3. People who genuinely just like Dabo. These folks are not that concerned with competing for national championships, they want to do it the "right way." They like Dabo as a person and think what he's doing is the right, moral thing. You'll see them talking about his religion, the high graduation rate, or that he teaches "boys to be men." You'll also see them or attacking other coaches for being bad people.
I mean, I like Dabo too. And if people want to stop competing for titles, that's fine by me. I ultimately think Clemson is a university, not an NFL team. I'd rather my degree be worth something, and if college athletics are going to just be pro athletics, I'm fine with us dropping them to pursue better academics. I lament the fact that we've fallen off academically the past 15 years (it's a myth that athletics increases academics at a school). That said, if we go that route, we need to change a lot. They should be actual students like they are in the Ivy League, not allowed to get in with terrible grades/test scores and then coast in fake majors. And we shouldn't be paying a coach $11 million a year to be a youth minister. That kind of money is for someone competing annually for national championships.

Completely disagree. There are native S. Carolinians like myself who literally "grew up" around Clemson......our perspective is very much long term. Granted I was just a young'un when Danny ran the program, but I remember vividly the mistakes made by the administration (and Max Lennon in particular) when they ran him out.
You also completely miss the point that Bowden was actually the one who first got the administration to loosen the purse strings and make some solid investments in infrastructure.
And we definitely believe (firmly) that no man is bigger than Clemson. Period.

4. The mindless sycophant fan who believes anyone who questions Dabo is a coot or a troll. This fan trusts Dabo to hire his friends and family who can’t coach, simply based on his past successes. This fan claims that Dabo’s salary doesn’t matter, because “he has won a lot around here” This fan only looks in the rearview mirror and does not see what’s happening right now, which is Program is crumbling. Recruiting is falling off, the defense is falling off, we really have no weapons on offense besides Kade and Mafah. Without portal help, we may not be able to field a team in two years
Without some major changes, the program we’re gonna be headed for mediocrity. I’m just reporting the news, I’m not making it

You're wrong on number one, about it being short-sighted. Bigger programs than Clemson have fallen hard after a coach is left. If we going seven and five every year then maybe that's one thing. But when you're still winning 9 or 10 games a year, you really can't justify making the change. Especially because Clemson just simply isn't as high on the totem pole in college football is some of you guys believe. It's simply harder to win here than you think, at least at a national level.

Yep, a lot to be said about the man that took us to the top of the mountain a couple of times. Unfortunately, because of stubbornness, his friends and family hires, and failure to adapt and use all available resources in the changing landscape - let us slide down the other side of the mountain to mediocrity. Thumbs down, I don’t care ..we’re the 2nd best team in the state (again) ..and this means more to the fans than the coaches.

recruits for using a nobody behind center. We couldn't land a top receiver because they knew DJ was inept and couldn't get the ball to them.
We failed to land many good players over DJ and right now we're in the recuperation stage. DJ was the only QB needed enough to sit behind TL. Everyone else knew they wouldn't replace him and CLemson has had many draft picks quality player staying for their senior year(s).

Who think Dabo is Clemson football and it won’t exist without him because they don’t have the benefit of perspective that comes from seeing plenty of coaching transitions over the years.
I went to more games than not in the 80’s and was a student during Hatfield and West. As time goes on I realize I had just as much fun (if not more) going to games in the Bowden years as I do now. It just cost about 60-70% less to be a fan back then and Lots 1 and 2 were a lot less full of corporate types with sticks up their butts who were just there to see and be seen.
So no, as a long time fan, I can say with total assurance that the Earth will keep spinning and I’ll keep tailgating when Dabo is long gone.

There's no doubt Clemson football will continue to exist. But, to risk all the positive parts of the program and culture to maybe win another game or two doesn't make much sense to me.
I would like to think that I'll be a fan no matter what, but after reading some of the childish and insane poasts on here, I am not so certain anymore. I don't know how a logical, thinking alumnus could come up with the stupid things they are advocating for.

Not be a little different than most, but couple things that might make my perspective make more sense. I’m definitely not just a win chaser and I imagine there’s more in this boat.
1) I’m honestly not pushing for Dabo’s firing. Indifferent is probably the best descriptor of how I feel about it. 2) he can remain a builder of men and a hater of the portal too for all I care, and we can stick with 3-4 losses a season too, but we don’t need to be paying him $11M and crazy staff salaries to do so. 3) The real burr in my Dabo saddle is the hiring. I’ve spent decades either working for a company or owning and running a company. There is not a single scenario in which I view using your employer’s money to throw jobs at your friends and family as anything other than unethical, low-class, and just seedy as hellll. I wish he would understand this, and if he doesn’t, that Neff or the BoT would have the stones to tell him what a horrible steward of Clemson’s money he is being by doing so. 4) if for whatever reason, he leaves on his own or is asked to leave, and we have a regression, I’m truly ok with that. This whole carnival ride has been fun, but I’m ok with it slowing down, returning to reason, and let the people off who jumped on around late 2015 or so if they don’t understand Clemson football without annual championship contention.

You’re obviously too young to remember when we fired another championship level coach. You didn’t endure the Hatfield/West years of hoping for bowl eligibility. Back when 4-7 seasons weren’t infrequent (we were in the ACC back then too so don’t use the ‘ACC sucks’ argument).
I hope the fringe isn’t loud enough to eventually run off another championship coach because they’re pretty rare. Clemson is not guaranteed a playoff spot every year and even though I Hope Dabo changes a few things you better hit your knees and pray we don’t lose him anytime soon because unless Saban unretires we aren’t going to do better.
Dabo has proven to you he makes the hard decisions when he believes he needs to (benching Bryant for Trevor, firing Streeter, etc).
We’ve beaten a lot of great teams in the past 16 years and if we don’t win another I sure am grateful Dabo has given us 6 ACC championships, 5 playoffs, and 2 national championships. That’s why I’m happy with Dabo

If we are referring to 2015-2020 Dabo, I agree.
If you’re talking about 2021-present, I think we can definitely do better than Dabo. We could also pay a good coach less to do it.

The same people who lived with a Clemson inferiority complex for years and now think that the whole national media is out to get us believe that Dabo is the white knight who gained and forever protects our global respect. He’s the middle finger to the sports establishment that they were praying for and as a result, don’t buy any criticism that comes his way from the same people. Ultimately it isn’t and never will again be about results on the field for them, and any amount of money is reasonable to them to retain him for as long as he will stay. He makes them feel good about themselves as Clemson fans and emotion always trumps logic.
Plus he uses horrible grammar and the folksy double negatives make them view him differently than they would any other individual with a near-9 figure net worth that they make direct, expensive contributions to.
In short, they’re actually fans of the Dabo Tigers. Clemson who?

I'm not perfectly aligned with him but the odds you would replace him with someone better over the long term are pretty slim. He's intelligent and determined. He's the winningest Coach we ever had and in terms of wins this year too is better than most in our history. We may still win our Conference and go to the playoff. That's another great accomplishment. He's his own worst enemy. If he'd get out of his own way he'd be unstoppable. You would be correct to say we aren't getting our 11M worth recently though.

I do not. I equate his salary with his value to the brand that pays the salary. And those numbers suggest he's worth every red cent they pay him.

Is it the 50/50 out of state/in state split now with great SC students getting bridged or wait listed?
Is it the insane tuition cost spurred in no small part the building rampage the administration went on when we became the darling of Northeastern college seniors who knew us through football?
Is it our US News public college ranking dropping from top 20-ish in the aughts to somewhere in the 40’s now?
Is it the blue collar fan base being kicked in the nuts by IPTAY and basically told “thanks for the 75 years of support, we’re good now—get a home equity loan if you want to remain a fan”
Is it people like Tom Winkopp getting rich building high rise apartments downtown and finding a parking place downtown being on par with Master’s badges in exclusivity?
Legit question—what positive direction do you see that resulted from our football success other than a couple natty trophies in the case? I can’t stand the “progress” we have experienced, so I truly welcome some perspective that makes me think something good has happened other than us getting bigger, shinier, and more expensive.

Getting bigger is not totally bad or good. There is always both good and bad with these changes. The growth at Clemson has enabled the opening of a world class business school and now the announcement that we will soon open the first veterinary school in SC. The success of the football team over the last 20 years has definitely contributed to our overall brand recognition and growth. Funny how so many are quick to say Dabo needs to adapt or he’s going to be left behind but resist any growth or change to the university itself.

People cannot appreciate a good coach. Sad but we live in a what have you done for me lately culture. Hey I understand people’s angst and am disappointed as well, but not going to throw the best coach we have ever had under the bus because we are not contending for the national championship every year. I’m a realist and I do understand that class and doing things the right way is not very popular in today’s world.
The cult BS is left wing, mind blown, lack of anything substantial wording to describe things they cannot wrap their minds around. I won’t call anyone out for a difference of opinion on this particular matter, but some on here are just sad folks. I honestly hope the rest of your lives are going much better than the rhetoric you spew on TNET.

We have long coat tails from our run in the mid-10s, but we're about at the end of them. I've described ti before as a death spiral. How much longer do you think recruits/players are going to believe they have a shot at the natty, because coached by absolute scrubs. Once they go, even a 9-win season is going to feel like a dream. Then the money dries up, and our ability to rebuild is like post-Katrina.

So let's put ourselves in the shoes of a recruit?
4

Will I get playing time? Check to Dabo. His non/conservative use of the portal helps him keep promises to recruits about when and how much they'll get to play.
Will I be seen? Strike against Dabo. We're no longer a frequent prime time team. Our games are now covered by the CW. This is both because of how far we've fallen, and how bad the ACC is, which make us not being able to boat race every ACC team a bigger issue.
Will I get developed? HUGE strike against Dabo. Probably his biggest. We haven't developed players in ages. There's a good argument to make that Trevor actually regressed at Clemson. And, Dabo's biggest flaw over the last handful of years has been building a staff that's basically a soup kitchen for guys he knows rather than a real program that develops talent. It's showing.
Is it a good culture? HUGE check to Dabo. Best thing he has going for him.
Will I get paid? Wash. I think Clemson is working on this.
Will I get a shot at the title? Another big strike at Dabo. We aren't competitive. He has prioritized "his way" over being competitive. We're now lucky if we get a shot at the ACC title, much less a playoff berth.
Are there better opportunities out there? Another strike. Other programs are coming up as we're coming down. Even Carolina has a Dabo-like coach in Beamer, which eats undermines some of the unique selling points of Clemson as a home school for SC athletes.
Bottom line? Dabo has enough going for him where he can keep the fall-off from being exponential, but not enough going for him where he can lift the trajectory above the X-axis. To clarify, he could. He's a great, successful coach when he's got the right pieces around him. He just refuses to play with those pieces anymore.

I think recruits are more interested in will I get into the NFL than will I get developed. This is at least a wash or in Dabo’s favor when you see how many guys we’ve put into the league even in the last few years.
How many of our games aired on the CW this season? Makes for a nice sounding criticism, but just how accurate is it really?

They want the bag. Dabo ain’t for that. You gotta earn it. Just like he had to earn that ride at Bammer. The OP is right. And Francis Marion, umm, I mean, A1, and Rhett, are willfully blind.
7 lost recruits are proof of that. Dabo just charm momma with bible verses anymore. You have to have the BAG.

It’s so easy isn’t it. I wouldn’t even be as butt sore about losing to a good SC team if I knew he was doing the same stuff as everyone else.
I totally agree sir. All he has to do is what he’s supposed to and everyone from the fans to the media will shut up about it.

So you're admitting that the Dabo approach has bore fruit, as Dabo has achieved "Nick Saban" results while the fans like yourself are going scorched earth on a down year for Clemson that is still on pace to exceed anything Bowden ever did as HC...
Should Clemson have done more than nothing in the portal? Sure. Would it be wise to go all in on the portal/NIL when it's essentially the wild west, and in some cases, has proven to be a poison pill? What if Dabo did what Norvell did, and assembled a roster like a dollar store version of the Avengers chock full of transfers from all over the country, talked it up all offseason and raised expectations into the stratosphere only to go 2-10? You and countless others here would've reached nuclear level meltdowns.
I could go on about how it's beneficial to not get instant gratification but you're a grown adult. You shouldn't need me to tell you that.

Saying it’s been a down decade so far is weak at best and reeks of recency bias. At the end of the 2014 season, would you have said that had been a “down decade so far”? Here are the results of those years.
2010 - 6-7 lost to coots 2011 - 10-4 - lost to coots, ACC champion 2012 - 11-2 lost to coots 2013 - 11-2 lost to coots 2014 - 10-3
We have won twice as many ACC championships (2) in the first 4 years of this decade than we did the first 4 years of the last decade (1) and are playing for another Saturday so we have a chance at tripling the number of ACC championships. But I guess you are still having a “down decade so far”.
Give it a chance before you throw in the towel.

If I'm being honest. I'm 37 years old. I grew up hearing my dad/grandad talk about 1981. I thought I would never sniff anything other than a Gator/Peach Bowl. I personally have got to attend 4 natty's, a few other playoff games, and several ACC titles. I'm not saying I'm ecstatic with the current outlook of the program. However, I am very grateful for past results, and I've seen this cycle through many other programs so I kind of feel it's almost natural. I knew it wouldn't last forever. Look at USC early 2000's, Florida St post Jameis, Florida post Urban years, Texas after Mack, Alabama pre Saban, and Miami since 2002. Again, by no means am I cool with it, but I think even bigger programs than us have suffered worse and for longer than what we are currently experiencing.

think that it would. I like being the only place where we can go to a game and not sit there thinking - well, our store bought "student" athletes are playing well today.
It was a pipe-dream, but I believed Dabo had earned the chance to try. So, now he has tried, and it's obvious it's not going to work. We are getting outbid for many players.
You don't need to worry about firing Dabo - he will leave on his own soon. (And I'm NEVER wrong about these things.)
If The Tigers magically had a benefactor that said - I'll buy you guys a championship, here's a billion dollars to get the best players. I would take no pride in that...so I'll leave on my own soon too.
Side note: Dabo has already earned any salary he has or will ever make. The property value in and around Clemson and the increased student "quality" (in terms of applications) is all attributed to the football team's success.

But Dabo has earned the right to do things his own way. Outside of Saban (who was never coming to Clemson), no one else would have given us the success we've had in the last 14 years.
Dabo has meant so much to Clemson University. The rise in applicants is because of the football success. This has led to other great things to happen for Clemson.
Unfortunately, under Dabo we may never see the on-field success again, but at this point, we only separate from him if he wants to. And I'm ok with that (and it doesn't mean that I won't complain about his decisions ).

I am disappointed in the slow response to obvious issues on the field and coaching staff. The latter bears directly on the former.
If he wants to continue his off field player development at the expense of the football team’s success, then that’s fine. His contract needs to be reworked to reflect that decision.
Neither nil nor the portal had anything to do with keeping S Brown out in the 4th qtr and letting Sellers run all over us. Also, why let a 60% Mafah continue to play when Haynes is good enough?
I was very happy with the ole Dabo, but not so much the current one.

I am really happy Dabo has been our coach, and I am really happy. He will be our coach for years to come.
I am happy with …….
He wins. He recruits really well. He develops players really well. We fund raises really well. He built a solid program with stability.

Some of us still carry the scars from Hatfield, West and Bowden. Like the children of Israel we walked in the desert for 40 years. We reach the Jordan river and you're ready to return to Egypt and serve the many gods of that land. You are provoking the football gods by wanting to change coaches.
We have the best coach we've ever had so if we fall back to 10 games/yr being the best we can do then so be it.
I get it, you hurt. So also do all we Clemson fans. If we have beaten the coots would you feel this way?

Of course beating the coots would have wonderful.
My family and I were at Tampa and San Francisco. Watched Elliot pull Étienne in the second half in New Orleans. We were in Notre Dame in the freezing cold watching our Tigers get throttled by the Damers.
I was a junior in 1982. Never thought we would return to national prominence in my lifetime. I have seen the great and not so good.
Since 2019 this program has steadily declined. The portal and nil are having an obvious effect on performance. However, these did lose the coot game or the Louisville one. Poor coaching and likely meddling of the head coach did.

Losing twice at home to 2 Little SC teams is inexcusable considering our talent vs theirs. Our coaches seem to try to pound square pegs into round holes with DJU being the best example. I think "our coaches" is probably just Dabo. I don't blame the problems that occurred when DJU was here at all on him as others do. It was entirely Dabo. Best example was the play calling in the 2022 game with Little SC. Just give the ball to Shipley in the 2nd half and we win going away, but no, Dabo sticks with 7 for 29.

Very true…. However, there will not be another until either Dabo quits shooting Clemson in the paw or he leaves.
I guess it comes down to remembering the glory of the past vs striving to win in the future. You can have both, but not with this current coaching staff.

Serious questions don't typically begin with insults, derision and tribal camp mentality. And then continue asking them completely littered with more insults and curated options in a feeble attempt at trapping those that disagree with an obvious agenda.
The premise isn't bad, but the execution of it and trolling attempt is awful

One could say the same about you. People generally don't like having their agenda called out.
Again, the premise isn't bad but its obvious you didn't really want an open and honest discussion. It was clearly written in a way that either one either agrees 100% with your agenda or get put in the "cowpie-munchers" group.

From your vantage point... the "serious question" you posed.
Personally, I don't think you wanted discussion, rather it seems you wanted to have folks either give you support or draw out those who disagree with your premise and agenda. That way you could go after them for being "cowpie munchers" or sunshine pumpers or dabo loyalists or any number of labels used to divide the fans base.
Unless your latest question above is an indication you didn't want people to respond with an answer and instead just wanted to indulge in debase tribal mentality

Orrrrr you can take it as a refusal to play your silly game and instead to call it out for what it appears to be. Further division of the fan base with an identity based name-calling contest for those who don't agree with your agenda.

Read 2 paragraphs here’s my conclusion. You are a dirtpecker, you are one of the many reasons birds fly upside down in Columbia. Dabo is a legend when he leaves we won’t be good for at least 2 years. Why do you think we still have 4-5 star kids coming to CU not for the money because I guarantee you someone else is offering them a lot more money it’s because of dabo and the culture he’s built. Now go cry that we lost to the colts but guess what while you’re crying and while the dirtpeckers are playing in the pop tart bowl we will be playing in a playoff game. We will beat smu I have faith I don’t think these boys are gonna let this be a 4 loss season. There is nothing that would make me happier than beating the colts right now but you have to get over it and look forward to what I believe is a very bright future. Especially if Dabo starts using NIL like the boosters want him too.

Happy he has us back in the ACC CHAMPIONSHIP for 10th time in past 15 years. There are 17 teams in the ACC. Now there are 2 left standing. Much to the chagrin of most of the "fans" on this sites.
Awesome job by Dabo, navigating this young team to another ACC Championship Game and another shot at a Natty waiting on the other side. Going 7-1 in the ACC turns out to be a bit tougher than most people think.
I'm pretty sure i'm a WHOLE LOT HAPPIER than the fans of 15 other schools in the ACC that have to watch Clemson run out on Saturday night in Charlotte - AGAIN! Go Tigers!

college football of all time.
Currently...we play Saturday for a chance at another ACC Championship and a shot at the Playoffs.
He represents the university extremely well, and puts tremendous effort into developing our players off the field as well as on.
Quick thoughts on your "Categories":
If "We are not national contenders" is a reason for Clemson to run off a coach in your opinion, find a new hobby. The idea that "Clemson should be in the title game every single year" is a delusion, one that you feel entitled to hold specifically BECAUSE of Dabo Swinney. Quick reminder...when Dabo Swinney won the ACC in 2011, he did so using some players that were not even born the last time we won a CONFERENCE championship (1991...Sammy, Nuk).
"We are no longer in control of getting into the playoffs" - we're not? How are we not?
Clemson atmosphere - true or not, this is on Dabo how?
And one final thought on the National Contender gripe...I've been pretty vocal on my discontent and dissatisfaction with the direction of this business. But...if we ran off Dabo Swinney...one thing my lack of passion for the business would afford me is a slight bit of enjoyment in watching the "Hey, if we're not first, we're last!" crowd as they turn themselves inside out on a coaching carousel as we spend the annual GDP of a small country on coaches and players. Go get 'em, guys.

For all the Dabo haters particularly those complaining about his salary, Here’s a list of the top 10 highest paid coaches and their records this year:
Kirby Smart 10-2 Dabo Swinney. 9-3 Steve Sarkisian 11-1 Lincoln Riley. 6-6 Ryan Day. 10-2 Brian Kelly. 8-4 Mike Norvell. 2-10 Kalen DeBoer. 9-3 Lane Kiffin. 9-3 Eliah Drikwitz. 9-3
Average number of wins of top 10 paid coaches is 8.3 Average number of losses is 3.7
So tell me again why Dabo is such a bad value. Be careful what you wish for!

Happy ? That’s a wide open word. Proud of the program he has built. Has his actions or lack of adjustment to the new way hindered us recently - sure , maybe? I am thankful for Dabo, thankful that he has the best interest in mind of young Men. Will we ever win another NC , I think yes . He will adjust- he will adapt the honorable way, for that I’m Happy. Clemson is a bad pass away from possibly being 10-2. 10-2 under Tommy West or Tommy Bowden would have caused a meltdown and we’d be in heaven. Dabo has spoiled us , done things right for 16 years. BUT know all of a sudden we are too important not to win 11-12 games .. Go ahead and mess around just like the administration and Bobby Robinson did in 1989, see how long that set us back. We as a fan base need to be still - Be patient enjoy a coach that gives a dang about class and doing it right. Be still - Be patient . All in due time

Dabo is a future Hall of Fame coach and is a great leader of the young men that represent Clemson on the football field. Football is a game that will have teams with talent losing because every team has talent. Just because we had rosters of NFL draft picks from 2015-2020, does not mean we will have that every year and no coach can promise that. How do you know there is no promise? Look up the records of the Top 10 for the past 10 years and you will see us listed over and over but like other schools, we haven't made the Playoff every year.
Bottom line, Dabo is coach today, tomorrow and in the future.

You must be young or a bandwagon jumper. How about this, who is Clemson going to go get iout there right now this better than dabo? So maybe you think about it a couple minutes and you come back with some brilliant answer. You know if it wasn't for Dabo then there wouldn't be anybody that great to replace him anyway. For those of us who aren't just a bandwagon jumper Clemson was not very good before Dabo got here. In fact, since the ACC went to two divisions Clemson had never won its division until dabo. A good year at Clemson was 9 - 3 back then and now we all whine and complaining when we go 9 -3 or have ONLY nine wins. Back in 2011, Dabo won the ACC title the first time, it had been 30 freaking years since Clemson had done that!! No ,at the moment we're not winning 11 games, we hit the lottery when we got DeShaun Watson and Trevor lawrence. Cade may get to a level close to that next year, this team is still pretty young and is going to be better or even better next year. Clemson was in the wilderness after the administration ran off Danny ford. Clemson was bad. Also look around. Washington last year made the national championship game, this year they went six and six. What was it, 2 years ago TCU made it to the national championship game and did they even have a winning record this year? Dabo gives you consistency. 14 years of nine wins or more. We as a fan base are so spoiled now and do not have realistic expectations. I was beside myself upset and sad last Saturday by losing that game, but Clemson very easily could have and should have won that game and was clearly still the better team than sc. Sometimes the ball doesn't bounce your way, these kids are kids and they make mistakes in situations sometimes. If you're so unhappy with Dabo go join another bandwagon like Georgia. But if Clemson beats SMU Saturday, you will just shut up and go hide in your hole until the team loses again and then you'll be back. Clemson graduates it's players. Dabo is a fine man of faith and does things the right way.

Because Dabo is an unabashed Christian and that makes the atheists mad.

As a Christian myself, I love unabashed Christians.

My preacher isn’t making $11M a year and hiring his fraternity buddy to be the music ministry director even though his experience involves having a guitar lesson one time.
