Dabo lost his bananas and came out looking bad. Either Dabo decided he doesn't want to risk being questioned or criticized on the air, or the powers that be didn't want to risk the same thing happening again, so the decision was made.
I think it's a mistake. We pride ourselves on being different; on being family. This show was one way for the fans to feel connected to the coach and the program. Now we don't have it anymore. Sad.

I listened to a couple shows last year and they were unbearable. Every call had zero substance. Of course the week I gave up listening was the week Tyler called in. It’s probably bad optics to make this change now but it’s really long overdue.

Dabo is quick on his feet and spontaneous as a speaker/discussion participant. My guess is that he did not initiate this action. I think his advisors/friends told him the "Tyler" conversation was not helpful and there is no way he could win. Public relations folk at Clemson do not want anymore Tylers. I support Dabo and have no problem with how he responded to Tyler. I personally think Tyler was out of line.

Bull. He isn’t muzzling callers. He (or Learfield Sports) are weeding out ridiculous and rambling questions. He’s still answering questions and can probably answer more than normal. If you’ve ever facilitated live Q&A with people (especially anonymous) who may or may not know what they’re talking about, then you understand the sheer absurdity of doing it in the first place.

They don't have to put every caller on the air.
So this notion that they are victims of bad callers is ridiculous.
All they have to do is have their own way of filtering calls, and they can have a lot of control over who is on the air and what they say.
Of course, this doesn't keep someone from lying about their question to the screener, and then asking something different live on the air.
There are lots of options here rather than just banning all live calls.

Why can’t you see how stupid this sounds. Even the potential of a caller lying to radio staff screener and then going bananas on Dabo is reason enough to stop doing it. The fact that “Tyler” (if that is even his real name) actually did it, is all that is needed to say…this is stupid.

In fact I wish more radio programs got rid of callers. On the rare occasion I listen to WCCP I often find myself hoping some windbag caller would wrap it up so we could get back to regularly scheduled programming. That's why I don't listen often to WCCP it seems like some of the hosts are lazy and just let the callers fill time instead of preparing content themselves.

I don't listen to any radio call-in shows. It makes me sad to think that those types of people exist and are shaping our world as parents, workers, and voters.
With that said, I do think coaches taking calls on a show like this shows a willingness to interact with fans. Fans like to feel connected to the coach and program.

He is interacting with fans. Stop creating an either/or scenario…Either Dabo take live calls from fans or he isn’t really interacting with fans.
He’s doing it in the most reasonable way. Force fans who really have questions to take the time and write them out. If you want to see the car wreck of bad and emotional question asking, that’s on you. Evaluate your own motives.
But if you really want fans to be able to interact with coaches, then this is absolutely the most reasonable way to do it.

Will see how it works out, but I think this is a good move. This way he can answer good quality questions and the show can run smoother. If there are uncomfortable questions, I think Dabo will still answer them as I don't see him backing down from his beliefs. Through the years there have been some stupid questions asked of our head coaches. Hopefully it will go well and not come across as being too canned or packaged.
