since I've posted anything on any of the boards. Mostly I just look around and rejoice or grumble with everyone else on here. Lately it's been a little more grumbling because of the #### poor job we did in the NCAA tourney attempting to get to Omaha. But even with that huge disappointment, something in me still feels like better days are ahead. It may be the fact that D-Rad wasted no time in releasing a statement concerning the baseball team, it's coach, and the disappointment that we all felt. Something about that felt new and refreshing, because to my knowledge, I don't think TDP ever did anything like that...until he absolutely had to. I have liked D-Rad, but something about him feels different (in a good way), and I like the way things are headed.
My fiance always tells me that I may be a little too immersed in the Clemson football/baseball/basketball scene, but I try to help her understand whats really going on here. It isn't just a hopeless obsession that means nothing to no one and does no good. As I was on my way to work this morning (yes i'm at work writing this) I began thinking of the progression that we have had as a football program, in particular, and as a school in general. I read these boards every day, and I see the passion that the fans have for their school and the program and I think that it is no wonder why we are becoming a nationally recognized program.
If you are like me, you have cheering for the tigers since you were dressed in orange in the hospital minutes after birth, and it never left! We have been through good, and we have been through bad...really bad. But no matter how bad it has hurt we have been back up the next weekend cheering on our boys in orange. I think it has hit a new level lately because everyone can sense something great happening in those hills. There is a familiar, yet new, feeling that is happening around CU and I know that I'm not the only one who feels it.
I believe that the reason that this new era at Clemson has happened is not only because of a great coach, but because the fans can truly feel a shift in the atmosphere. I also believe that it is because we have a coach that stands for what he believes in no matter who comes after him; and we have players that are quality individuals and not just good football players. It has finally started to click between coach, players, and fans, to where a new era at Clemson has begun. Lets just hope this era is a permanent one.
There was pride in wearing my orange all along, but now it's a different type of pride...one that comes with respect and excitement. It may be a little bit of an over the top interest that I have in Clemson, and it's athletics, as my fiance says...but I wouldn't have it any other way. We are the heartbeat of the athletic programs, and I don't believe that's going to stop any time soon.
Agree with your post. And your fiance should be thrilled about your slightly over the top obsession with clemson athletics. There are "bad" things you could obsess over.
What a great post and we are on the right path not only for the fb program and bb program but the athletes that represent our great school. I am not a Tiger grad but believe me when I say I have come to love this school with a passion and I'm sure when they open me up my blood will run the beautiful shade of Clemson Orange. GOOO TIGERS
