Friday night, went to the beer share at Shoeless for the first time in a while. Pretty fun.
Saturday, busted out the smoker for the first time since Thanksgiving. Got a really late start but amazingly one of the butts never hit the stall and it came out great. Didn't eat until 9 pm, but it came out great.
Sunday, headed up to the NC border to place my last two "free" sports bets from the $150 in bonus bets I had. After using the app I much prefer to go up to the person at the sports book and say whatever I want to be on. Since Sharkgirl is from Iowa, we watched the lady Gamecocks out rebound the Iowa ladies. Seeing as Iowa was way up after the first 3 minutes only to get stomped, the score doesn't show how dominant they were. It was nuts that Clemson baseball ALMOST won before that game started but the game was almost over before the baseball game was settled.

Wednesday took off up 221 to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Bear Den Campground to spend my first night in a tent in over 25 years. The evening was nice, we had a fire, I must say a self inflating queen sized bed is much more comfortable than the camp pads of old.
Thursday, woke up to blowing snow and dropping temperatures. With the prospect of a cold damp day and colder night we decided to chuck it all in the back of the van and head back to sun and 56 degree weather. Did go home the long way and stopped at a couple of overlooks along the parkway to play with the dogs in the snow
Friday learned my boss has lung cancer, hopefully treatable, and went in early to do a few things for him then back home to drag all the wet stuff out of the van and set it all up to dry
Saturday ran some samples for the boss, played outside with the dogs, watched a variety of Clemson sports Dogs and redhead went home. It was nice having someone around for a few days.
Sunday usual with mom, and visited boss in hospital- he looked and sounded pretty good. The treatment plan they have him on doesn’t sound like one for someone they don’t expect to recover so that is very encouraging.

On Keowee to a wine dinner. Food was great and 14 bottles of Napa reds were consumed (note: one was a partial drain pour after that couple left!) Saturday at the Spring game, saw some encouraging signs for the Fall, tailgated in lot 3 after halftime for a bit. Went by Lowe’s and picked up 42 bags of mulch (all I could haul in the Tacoma) Will work on those as week progresses. Sunday the mrs had Di-uh-rear so we missed church. Watched golf, did enjoy the first 5 min of the Caitlin Clark show!

Pretty laid back. Was forced to go to the Pendleton Spring Jubilee on sattidy. At least it was a nice day for it.
Watched a lot of hoops, missed the PGA, sounded like a great back nine.
8/10 (15.2/19 on the RH Covids scale). Bonus for the weather.

Fri - Went to golf course and watched brother finish up in the member-guest, had a couple beers, did go downtown and saw some live music
Sat - reported for duty for the Augusta National Women's Amateur. Last year they had me on a leaderboard on hole 16, so I was expecting to do the same thing. I got there and they said I was an alternate and to report to Scoring Control in the Press Building. Went there and they did not have anything for me to do, so I sat there and watched the closed circuit TV coverage, ate like a maniac (free sandwiches), ended up going to the restaurant and had fish tacos and clam chowder. It was fantastic. Stood in line to get into the golf shop, it was brutal. Didn't score a gnome that I had been asked to procure for wife's uncle that has lewy body dementia, will try again later this week. Back to golf course to watch the end of the member-guest, bro and his partner played like shidd. More beers.
Sun - lazy morning, silly string war with wife and daughter in the afternoon. Out to golf course to fart around and did some chipping and putting. Downtown with wife and daughter to play bingo. Did not win. Tired af. Slept in this morning.

but it is so crowded now that I think it just stays at max capacity all day. The line will look overwhelming but it moves along pretty good. It was super long the other day, like halfway down the practice area. Think it took about 35-45 minutes to get in. I would just take my medicine and get it over with.

left as you come in. Probably still there but it's a long walk back there from the shop. Pretty sure there are some other checkstands around, the sheet you get on the way in has a map. Or you can just ship it home. Extra expense but worth it to not have to carry stuff around. Ask the cashier in the shop where to go to ship.

There are checkstands according to https://www.masters.com/en_US/patron/index.html but it doesn't show any on a map (that I could find). It will be on the pairing sheet or in the spectator guide. Pick those up on the way in. Father G®

Friday: decided to hop on board with the old man last minute for his trip to ATL to see my sister. Not a bad drive, grubbed on some good Japanese food at Okyama or something like that. Sis and her wife had some friends come over after that and ended up staying up way too late. Pops slept through it somehow, but wasn't pleased with the wreckage he found in the morning.
Saturday: brefiss with crappy service, YDFM for spices and whathaveyas, afternoon beers, and dinner at The Deer and the Dove. Menu sounded OK, but the actual meal was phenomenal. Great service, excellent drinks.

I got the dry-aged duck
Lamb shank
Pheasant
Drive home was trafficky, but moved really well, and managed to average 85-90 on the interstates. Door to door in just under 4 hours (east Atlanta to not quite downtown CHS, so, you know). Vegged on the couch yesterday, already tired of hearing about Dawn Staley, prepping for eclipse annihilation today.

I came within millimeters of shitting myself in YDFM. Like, trying to navigate through a Saturday crowd as quickly as possible without any extra jarring of the intestines. It legit felt like somebody reached into my gut and grabbed a handful of digestive tract, and squeezed and twisted as hard as they could.

Was off last week on vacation in Seabrook Island. Rented an awesome house and had a very chill and relaxing week...was just what the doctor ordered. Pic of my view for the week attached.
Came back to Anderson on Friday. Traffic was a total CF on I-26 the whole way back. Stopped in Cola to let daughter of try Piggy Park for the first time. I hadn't been in a very long time (likely 80's)...and it was pretty dang good and she was a big fan. Watched women's final four games, which were good. Watched more women's college bball this year than ever before and it's actually become watchable.
Saturday...breakfast with Son-of and then took him to get his hair cut. Played bball with daughter-of. Watched final four games. Made dinner at home.
Sunday...no church cause overslept and heathens. Watched women's final...Scar had too much inside for Iowa, but was a very good game. Ordered pizza. Bed early.

Zillow told me that house sold for $1.8MM last year.
Turns out owner of the house is a business partner with a Doctor friend. I informed wife-of that we are the sort that rent for a week from the other sort.

Friday, started first mow of the year...always with the push mower because who knows what I'll run over chopping up a year of leaf fall. Worked until about 8, took the pup on a quick jaunt, supper, beers, Big Chair.
Saturday, push mower, weed eater, blower until about 3:30, grocery run, Joonyer came by to show me his new truck, then supper, beers, Big Chair.
Sunday, relaxing morning, hike with the pup, then up to Outsider's Tavern to see local band The Edge, basically a renew of the old Oneppo Brothers original band 901. Excellent set, back home around 6, quick salad for supper and rest of the night in the Bog Chair.
17/19 because not a lot of exciting fun, but got a lot accomplished. Did not see one minute of spring football or women's basketball, but did bother to read all the doom and gloom posts from board football experts on Sunday morning. I, for one, will enjoy the Bahamas Bowl this year.

Friday celebrated wife-of's birthday with a night out. First we went to the Rabbit Hole for a couple drinks. This place is really cool, a speakeasy in Alice-in-Wonderland theme. In front there is outdoor seating with a firepit. Behind that is a bar area. And behind the bar, there is a 'secret' door to a speakeasy. The hall to the back is decorated with lots of clocks, greenery and mirrors (the rabbit hole). In the back room it's a plush library type setup with lots of books, old chandeliers, velvet, and a fancy bar. Wall is covered with rabbit portraits. Drinks were outstanding and we had a small appetizer which was also very good. If you want to check this out - and you do - I'm pretty sure you need reservations to get into the back room. After drinks we went across the sidewalk to the Anchorage for another great dinner. Off the charts.
Got home in time to see most of the iowa Uconn game. Man they sure screwed Uconn there at the end, terrible ref job.
Saturday and Sunday were both spent pretty much outdoors all day enjoying the weather and piddling with yardwork and some minor projects. Mulched some, weeded some, moved some plants around, irrigation, finished a stair with pavers, replaced mower blade and mowed, all the things. Had a fire in the firepit. Spent some time with my old dog who is showing her age.
Would repeat.

Fri.: we went to a friend's house for happy hour. Had a blast. A.
Sat.: Wifeof worked. I took the boys to the farmers market, donuts, and a long walk at the Gardens to wear them out. Mission accomplished. I did some yard work while they napped. Homemade pizza for supper and assisted the local Clemson Club with a service project. A.
Sun.: Church, followed by a run to train for the upcoming 5k. Spent the afternoon putting in a new flower bed. I wore myself out on that. Dinner was a pork loin, pinto beans, sourdough popovers, and fried Brussels Sprouts. A.
Excellent weather all weekend.

Pretty much have been doing yard work over my extended break. Pine straw, I hate pine straw. Putting in the garden. Have some things already sprouting. Trimmed back the azaleas.
Went to the beach for a little get away. Was cold. Stayed in the pools and hot tubs the whole time.
Birthday yesterday. Had steak and potatoes and way too much Bullitt Rye. Invited my nephews over for steak, and for some reason they brought their mother. eyeroll.gif.
Anyways. Back at work today and by work I mean sitting in at the kitchen table talking to you degenerates waiting on the rapture/emf event/eclipse.

Friday-nothing that I recall.
Saturday-was awoken bright and early by the announcers for the Cooper River Bridge run. Not as loud as it was at my last house, but still loud enough to wake me up at 6 AM.
Had to work some, so did that from 9-11. Then I took my boat trailer hubs and brakes apart to address some R&D work--rust and decay. Even though I did this last year, the torsion arms on the axles are rusting again right through the paint. I had to remove the brakes and took a pointed welding slag hammer and a drill powered wire brush and knocked off the rust delamination/wastage. Hopefully, this will be the last time I have to do this before I replace both axles probably next year, maybe the year after if I still have this boat/trailer.
I bought some specialized paint for painting over/sealing out rust (kind of like POR-15) called Mastercoat. It ain't cheap- at about $60/quart. And if nothing else, it's tenacious. I painted all day on Saturday and still have paint on my hands that won't come off. I used those cheap foam brushes, and after about 3/4 of a coat on one torsion arm, the paint literally attacked the foam and started melting it. I've never seen paint do that before. Some may remember this is the stuff I asked ryanadidas® about its use before and had some good suggestions on what to get. And ClemsonTiger1988® You may have some interest in this stuff as a rust preventative.
Sunday-went to mom of's house and fixed an electrical issue my dad made for me back in 1995. Thanks dad! Sorry, that exterior light ain't going back up. Came home, put my boat trailer back together, and then rode my bike to mainland to watch Hans Wenzel do his solo thing for a set. Had a beer with him, then came on back home.
And here I am.

industrial strength product which is big brother to their 15 line. It's also cheaper. Finishmaster carry it and I'd imagine any auto paint store would have it too. I'm not sure any of it works. I usually either grind out the rust or cut and replace the metal.

This is a lot more than surface rust.

Its delaminating cast steel. I'm concerned about the strength loss of what's left of the torsion arm.
If this paint doesn't work, I won't be doing it again. The rubber in the axles for the torsion arms is starting to age, and simply, the axles prob need to be replaced.

Fri - started potty training. no work. only had 1 accident. picked up pizza, hung out w/ 1 yr old at bar w/ frands for a bit to get away from wife and 2 yr old lollers
Sat - day 2 was rough. managed to avoid any big accidents, though. took 1 yr old to Publix to get out and let wife handle 2 year old. took a last minute notion to start putting mulch out while girls were asleep. only got 2 yards done (one Tundra load).
cooked some burgers. tried to put pants on in evening, pissed those. great.
Sun - day 3 morning wasn't as bad. slight improvement. took 1 year old to costco and ace. the little toddler carts they got were a yuge hit.
put girls down, got freaky w/ wife, cut grass.
decided to try underwear. went well for ~2 or 3 hours. rolled the dice to go underwear and pants, to play outside b/c EVERYONE WAS GOING FUGGING CRAZY
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand she #### her pants. little effer. was in the corner of the yard just letting it go. we knew she had to go.
cooked a steak, drank some CDR wine, cudos to dr.chassman15
Mon - woke up and wanted to finish putting out mulch before rain. thought I only needed one more yard.
rolled up and got the 4th. my original estimate was 4, but saturday went so well I thought I could get by w/ 3.
made myself an egg white omlette for those macros, and just got in the big chair.
tl;dr: potty training and yard work and wine

Thu was my 54th birthday, so I went to see local metal legends Gargamel! They opened for an outfit called Metalachi that is exactly what the name says, dudes dressed like 80's metal, playing metal songs, but as a mariachi band. Was freaking cool. Partied way too hard
Friday: needed brief morning nap because of said partying. Good thing I am sole proprietor and can finish work on weekend. Friends call; hey Mike, since we couldn't make last night, come celebrate your birthday at the oyster bar.... Um hell yes. After, free Steelin Peaches show, a terrific Allman Brothers cover band. If they come to your area, go for sure
Sat: Shop and blew all leaves and sticks off the roof. The other MSynan wanted a margarita last Saturday, but the new place had a line out the door. This time we went to the old place, and made her happy with large tequila drink. I had pork burrito and very large beer... mmmmmmm
Sunday: man I'm old, lemme just finish this work and watch some hoops and racin.
18/19 Covids and would do again
