It pains me to say this but...

Aug 8, 2016, 5:12 PM

Looks like OrTre Smith is going to be a coot. He's been trending hard to USuK these past couple weeks because he doesn't like that we are deep at the reciever position. I mean yes he would have to wait his turn but when its all said and done he'll be a top pick in the NFL draft? Clemson can't stop putting receivers in the league and well the coots is where your dreams get crushed.
We have some time before he commits so hopefully we can make some type of ground. Would love to see a big 3 2017 reciever corps. Oh well

I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger

Just my opinion

Aug 8, 2016, 5:18 PM

With the staff saying that they won't take another WR if he doesn't commit sort of means they'd rather have another DB in this class anyways. If he commits, they'll take him, if not another DB is what they'll be after.

If you choose cawks over Clemson right now, you're scared of

the competition.

It's really that simple. You're scared that you will be buried on the depth chart.

I don't think there are many that would "bury" him....***

I agree that he's good. Hate to see him go there.

Aug 8, 2016, 5:27 PM

But we've got some studs ourselves. He could get lost in the shuffle at Clemson, which has him worried.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

From what I've seen,... big body, long with great hands.

Aug 8, 2016, 5:33 PM

He wouldn't outmaneuver some DBs, but he could probably post up most anybody in the back 7, LBs included...

Trevion Thompson, for example, would start for any school

Problem is that he could walk on the practice field at USC-Eastern and be they're #1 receiver today with no more than they currently have. If playing time and starting, even with a mediocre to bad program means that much to the young man, so be it, he's the loser.

your reply to TigerMan is reflective of this being true...

Aug 8, 2016, 6:14 PM [ in reply to Re: It pains me to say this but... ]

but it isn't true because it has not happened. as has been mentioned before, players and recruits do read the message boards, and it would look rather cootish for comments being made in derogatory terms to be made even before the recruit makes up his mind... we don't even know where TigerMan gets this particular bit of info or how reliable it is...

I've never for the life of me understood how these kind of posts help our recruiting. Kids to read our message board to get a pulse of what the fans think of them. All posts like this do is open up the "we don't need _____ anyway" responses.

He can also though read an honest respone that if immediate start is what he's looking for only, he may be best going to a school that has no receivers he'd have to sit behind like 's school loaded with 2 stars. If he's really trying to evaluate, he should look into how he expects he'll look if he's the only good weapon and teams with a pulse in the backfield constantly take him out. It's not always a good thing to be the only good player in the position on a roster. In offenses that are loaded, you also get more opportunities to play one on one.

He may just be waiting to see how Boom's season in cootsville

Aug 8, 2016, 6:05 PM

plays out and who is leaving Clemson. OreTre we would love to have you at Clemson. And I know it is a tuff decision for you, but no one will blame you for doing what you think is best for you.

Yeah, we're deep at WR, but our 3rd and 4th

Aug 8, 2016, 6:10 PM

receivers get as many touches as a lot of number 1s at other schools. I would say that Hunter Renfro got just as much of a chance, if not more, to show his skills as Pharoh Cooper. I would tell him to really think about his decision. I would bet that Josh Malone would take his back.

We are at the point where if a player is scared of the depth chart, then that should be a major red flag. There are plenty of quality football players out there that love the challenge of competing for a spot. Tell the kid good luck and thanks for his time. Go Tigers!
