But that's not your fault; it's all you've ever known. Me? I'm just old, and while I was as pizzed about tonight as anybody, and I see that we have some problems with the program that are frustrating, I have the benefit of history and hindsight that many of you may not. I remember the final days of Frank Howard football, when it seemed that everybody in America was passing us by. I remember his replacement, Hootie Ingram - cool name and promising hope and change. He was 12-21 in 3 years at Clemson; THAT really sucked. He was replaced by Red Parker, a humorous, fast talking coach who brought the cutting edge veer/option offense. His record was 17-25-2 in 4 years, and THAT sucked too. After a decade or so of unprecedented success and glory under Pell and Ford, we suffered under the Hatfieild/West years, where mediocrity became familiar once again, going 63-42-1 during that miserable stretch. Tommy Bowden brought renewed hope, but somehow always managed to fall just short of greatness.
I fully understand and share in everyone's frustration with our shortcomings and failures this season and last. We know we can and should be better. Having said that, we finished 16th last year, and have been ranked in the top 5 all year this season. Compare that to the Howard/Hootie/Parker/Hatfield/West/Bowden years, and this is not that bad. Yes, we have some serious issues regarding the state and direction of the program, but good lawd, we have lost ONE game out of nine this year. I'm not minimizing anything - I want stuff to get fixed - but dang, I know I'll live through this with my sanity and pride and loyalty intact - bacause I've lived through much much worse before. Know what? YOU can, and will too. Take a deep breath, and we will alll make it together.

I remember those times also. I like being a top ten program better.

Dabo built the second best program in CFB only behind mighty bama! Only to drive it off the cliff in less than 2 years? I’m sorry but after the sweet taste of success I’m not content w a top 20 program....I went all in on “best is the standard” and “ the best is yet to come”

some are so confused. I was yelling at the TV, yelling for my team, yelling for change to QB, yelling for the guys to play to win. Heart was racing, blood pressure up.
I got up this morning, went to the porch and listened to the wind blowing, the birds, the squirrels. Life is still good. We are 8-1, not 1-8. The best coach we have ever had is still coaching our team and hopefully continues to for a long time.
On another post, a "kid" said that he is starting his 40's and in "his prime" and we that have this attitude are just old and have given up.
IMO, he may be 40's in years, but he is still teens in maturity. It's ok to get upset and not like what happened last night. Dabo doesn't like it either. You can't watch that interview and not see the disappointment he feels. But "getting old" means having the wisdom to put things in perspective. I think that 40 year old "kid" is one that may never get the maturity to understand that perspective. How sad for him.
