From what I can tell Lanning has 3 young sons. Why would he not want to bring them back to the south to raise them in a great place like the upstate and Clemson?

well he’s from the Midwest so not sure raising his sons in The south would have any bearing. But he coached in the south from about 2015 until recently. I don’t think we could lure him unless we end up b1g or sec. This is going to be a problem luring any coach.

Lanning is not leaving Oregon. He turned down telling to Bama. He has a perfect situation. Deep pockets as long as Phil Knight and very reasonable expectations from the fan base.

I prefer Lane. Five years younger than Dykes and an offensive genius, though Dykes certainly not bad.

Hope it doesn’t come to that, but Kiffen all day. He’s done great things at Ole Miss and has really grown since the UT/USC debacles. Also exactly what we need on offense. I also think it’s a realistic get based on pay, facilities, etc

He's a legend who will have a statue made of him, won multiple titles, has nothing left to prove, stubborn and beligerent to a fault, doesn't answer questions on the radio, refuses to change no matter what everyone else sees, hires nothing but loyal friends and bobos who will not challenge him on anything. I don't think someone like that can win at Clemson??

I posted an entire list in a couple of threads but my top choices would be…
Jedd Fisch Washington
Lane Kiffin Ole Miss
Fisch done an incredible job not only coaching at Arizona but recruiting. Brought in Noah Fifita and Tetairoa McMillian who just went crazy for over 300 yards receiving.
He brought in 2 top 25 recruiting classes to Arizona of all places and signed McMillian who was a 5 star and I believe their highest rated recruit ever.
Arizona starting QB went down last year in like game 2 or 3. Fifita steps in as a freshman and leads Arizona to a top 15 final ranking 10 wins and they beat Oklahoma in the Alamo bowl.
Don’t tell me we can’t pay more than Washington or that he wouldn’t listen.
Kiffin… same thing. We will never struggle offensively ever again and he doesn’t mind doing things the modern way. Clemson is a better job than Ole Miss point blank period. Clemson is a better job than Washington point blank period.
Another guy I would heavily consider is Eli Drinkwitz. He’s down an incredible job at Missouri and has brought in some really great recruiting classes and he’s young and a very bright offensive mind.

For 11 mill a year… there may be 4/5 guys that we couldn’t get. But I promise you for that amount of money… all those guys would at least pick up the phone and listen.

Nobody on that list has even scared a National Championship. Have any of them even won a conference championship in a conference that matters? I don’t get it. You seem to forget all the years of “wandering in the wilderness” before Dabo. In my humble opinion, this will be Dabo’s last year. If we don’t finish in the top 5, I think he’ll recognize we are going back to the top without becoming a professional team. And he has said public ally that he doesn’t want that. But I want to remember all these posts calling for his ouster when we are relegated to third or fourth place in the ACC with ou 8 -4 record. Go Tigers!

Theirs only 3 active HCs in America with a title dude.
Does that mean every coach is just pure trash? Absolutely not.
There will be other coaches to win it eventually. Dabo didn’t have one until he won it the first time. Did you think he was trash bc he hadn’t won one?
Also some of those guys are in the 1st year of the job and others have been at places that are extremely difficult to win. Some of them have conference titles maybe not at the school their at actively but at past jobs yes.
You have to start somewhere bro and judging guys on whether they have a national title or not is insane. Dabo is not the only coach in America that can win at Clemson.

Who in college football right now has more titles than Dabo? I’ve lived through the days after Danny and don’t want to relive those 30 years because I probably won’t be around. Give Dabo time and he’ll figure out the way. Times are changing and will continue to change even more but I would put my money on him yesterday and tomorrow. Georgia is on another level right now but it doesn’t mean we won’t be back there soon. When I was young playing sports I always took a season or 2 when I moved up to get acclimated to the talent level I was moving up too. That’s what these kids go through also. I believe in these guys and think they will turn it around and be a different team at the end of the year. The 12 team playoff helps teams that mature during the year. The first game of the season against the number one team doesn’t define the whole season.

Kyle Shanahan! College football is no longer that. College football has evolved into NFL tryouts. We now pay players to audition for the NFL, let them jump from one school to another at will, and, Heaven forbid, we should expect them to even consider getting an education they can actually use once football has ended. Only way to compete without joining this insane culture is bring in a successful NFL coach to run program like the NFL does!
