The NCAA should drop the hammer on UGA

Everyone knows that they have been running a crooked program and that the SEC has been covering for them.
Sad that it took the death of two young people to expose them to the broad daylight. It is my hope that a good investigative journalist outside of Georgia and with no ties to Disney and the ESPN/SEC den of thieves sinks their teeth into this rotten program.
Aside from the fact that they were straight cheating before NIL and are straight cheating with the NIL, you cannot tell me that what happened to those two young people are in the “best interest of the athlete”
NCAA - step up and do your job. And take the SEC down a peg. UGA and the SEC don’t care one bit about the student or their well-being.
Maybe it does just “mean more” down there. Maybe it means doing whatever it takes to win and not caring who gets hurt of dies along the way.

First of all staffers providing student athletes with rides to and from unsanctioned events is impermissible and is an NCAA violation. That’s on camera with 2 bodies in the morgue to prove it.
Secondly they should conduct a thorough investigation to determine if there is a pattern of this type of conduct. And anyone with half a brain will find more cause than they ever had against SMU.
I think they should be given the death penalty. 4 year suspension of the football program

No it's not. NCAA ByLaw 16.9.1 specifically states: "an institution may provide reasonable local transportation to student-athletes on an occasional basis."

They could do this to SMU because of a letter from one of the big politicos at a large Texas school wanted to get revenge on the ex texas governor! They will not touch Georgia...if UGa gets the death penalty I'll be the most surprised person on the planet...NIL may have been invented just to get Jawja off the snide for previous violations (in addition to LSU, Tennessee and Auburn) of cash gifts and other bribery...awful to have the death of anyone at that age and certainly should be investigated but don't count on the NCAA to do squat...remember FSU, Miami, LSU, Oklahoma to name a few with nothing substantially done...UNC topped them all and didn't even get a pinch! SEC will protect their own and make sure the SEC complies...where is ESPN and Findbomb on this one!

There really isn’t very much that the NCAA can do about this situation in Athens. I think, over time, potential players and especially their parents, will see what has developed in the sports programs at UGA and several others. That is why it is very important that Clemson has an athletic program that is held in very high regard by everyone. Despite some fans cry for better coaching Clemson is very blessed to have the kind of leadership in place that gains the respect and admiration of all others. Winning isn’t everything but our teams, and university, does things the right way. Our players receive a quality education and, most importantly, get their names in the headlines for all the RIGHT reasons.

Just thought you'd like to know that.
Also, if someone could sue DW4 for anything he did at Clemson, they would have already come out of the woodwork.

Not sure, but if he was tbat way at Clemson, I think the vultures would have come out by now? That's my true thoughts on DW4. I have wondered about this, but with his millions someone would've said or filed a claim by now. That kind of made me doubt his guilt in tbe NFL. Not sure someone just wakes up one day and becomes a sexual predator.

You have got to be joking...NCAA will never slap one of their children...they will beat the he** out of SMU or Clemson...but Miami, Fla St, UNC, LSU, OSU, Oklahoma, etc and many of these not just breaking NCAA so called rules but Civil law and certainly moral rules! Others had huge issues that the NCAA refused to investigate but a letter to MA from a major school in TEXAS got poor little SMU clobbered for a political vendetta against an ex governor! Go to any of these schools and look where the football players from the Overlord section of Miami Park their new SUV`s...wonder how?

But what are you looking at or thinking is violations as related to the wreck? You have players that are friends with staff assistants. They go clubbing, most bars shut down at 2am in ATL so they go to strip club to continue night on town. They leave at 2:30am or little later. Is the wreck due to intoxication, was it multiple car wreck, was the other driver intoxicated if there was another car?? Has the BAC been released from the driver or were they the designated driver??
Just hearing some wild accusations. Maybe the players with NIL $$$ paid the assistants that don't make much money fo take them put and be designated driver. If there was another car involved, was that driver at fault or intoxicated?
I just haven't hear all the details, but people jumping to conclusions about staff, suing school, not having legal access to vehicles, etc, etc. Just not enough information released from what i have read to make wild accusations. Plus all this law suit talk when not knowing just shows you how Americans think with lawsuits when facts are missing. Maybe I missed some of the insiders information?

The driver was not tested for BAC or controlled substances from a newspaper report that I read after the incident. I’m not sure I feel the U of Ga is much responsible for this tragedy. As a board certified physician I find it curious that there was an automobile accident with deaths and the driver was not tested for these substances. This just isn’t how things are done.

Well that's how things are done in Athens, Tallahassee, Baton Rouge, Knoxville or Gainesville! When these kids have no moral compass the sky is the limit and when every action is supported by what is good for the football team not the so called student athlete you get `anarchy`...just try to get the NCAA to enforce anything!

Read any of the AJC articles because you’re woefully uninformed about the circumstances. It was not a multi car accident and Georgia athletic department policy specifically prohibits fraternization between staff and players in a non-official capacity.

Smart wears a facade to resemble Dabo but is as crooked as it gets. What a fake and phony. No one like him stays on the top forever. His sins will find him out as he goes. When Dabo finally had to kick the CB off his team couple years ago and Kirby grabbed him, that told me everything I needed to know about Kirby Smart.

The NCAA won't do anything to UGA. They have no power anymore. However, you can bet that there will be lawsuits coming from a lot of different places and UGA will be dragged into it because they have the deep pockets. That's just the way things work now in the good ole USA. Does the coach get tarnished? Who knows, but it probably depends on if he knew stuff like that was going on with his staff which I doubt he did. It's certainly not good publicity. However, the coach has two Natties so he's got a lot of clout and I don't see him being affected.

But, I do not understand how it is considered good practice for employees of the university to be escorting football players on an entertainment excursion at 2:30 in the morning.
If it were two 26 year old male employees of the school escorting 5 football players to a pool hall I would say that is inappropriate.

I would think the NCAA will have an issue with it, as well as the Georgia administration. I can't imagine any program authorizing or tolerating that type of issue.

I suspect lawyers are already involved.
Just thinking out loud here. UGA says it was not a college activity. But, a university employee was driving the vehicle with football players on board. The vehicle was a rented vehicle. The report I read said it was unclear who rented the vehicle. If the university rented the vehicle, they could definitely be in a world of legal trouble.
parents perspective: A university employee took my son out to a strip club at 2:30 in the morning. Then that employee drove the vehicle in a reckless manner killing my son.

You reckon there may be a whole lot more of it happening right there in Athens? What about the armpit of SC, Columbia? How many strips clubs are there? You think shady Shane promotes a little bit of that environment while recruiting?
You said something about being naive?

-1. You do not seem to be kidding. But two UGA deaths have nothing to do with the state of college football recruiting.

Look at it this way:
A university employee was out with enrolled student athletes (one of which who was underaged) at a strip club. Bad optics but nothing more than something to be frowned out.
However,...
If that employee bought drinks for them (hypothetical), was drunk (hypothetical) and then drove them in a vehicle that was rented by the university (hypothetical)....then the university is in deep deep trouble.

The fact that you would use the deaths of these two people to fashion yet more "proof" Georgia is a cheating program says a great deal about you. Must be all that "character" stuff you read so much about here.

Explain why team personnel were driving players in a team rented vehicle to an unofficial event. On it's face that is a rules violation.

hiding behind the death of 2 young people
blaming a poor young girl for just doing her job and losing her life in the process so you can protect your “sacred” university from liability and exposure to the truth?
i suppose time will tell…

The proof is for the charge of lack of institutional control. That is a charge that the NCAA uses to indict an entire athletic department. This is a tragedy, but based on the facts available, UGA is responsible. Seems like this is not an isolated occurrence. I'm sure there is evidence that this "fleet" vehicle was used by this young lady regularly for personal use. Providing transportation for entertainment purposes to student athletes is a major offense. The horrible part of this is that 2 young people have now died as a result of negligence by the University of Georgia. That is how the courts will see it as well.

Maybe it does just “mean more” down there. Maybe it means doing whatever it takes to win and not caring who gets hurt of dies along the way.

Won't even get a comment from the NCAA. There are in the SEC you know.

Yes I do, and they were absolutely wrong in what they did

Were they being driven by staffers?
Were they in university vehicles?
Were they taking recruits to the club?
So what is your point?

What are you mad about? That they shouldn’t have

had that car? That’s pretty minor, couldn’t care less what car they used, result is the exact same, and that’s the big deal. Not whether they used a university car when they should have used their personal car. Small potatoes

Unreasonable entertainment expenses (the club…)
Impermissible travel benefits (to and from Atlanta)
Sponsorship of underage drinking during an official recruiting visit (that’s actually a crime too)
AND
I know that a complete investigation will reveal that this was not an isolated incident, and that this behavior by staff was not discouraged through proper diligence and discipline, but rather encouraged by grown men put into positions of authority and leadership that should know better.
Complete lack of institutional control and blatant disregard for ncaa rules (and laws it would appear)

Won't happen! The NCAA is neutered, they have no balls! What authority they once had is now non-existent! Any penalty they might order the designated school could and should ignore it and say we will see you in court! Until rules are enforced across the boards and all are held to the same standards then they are as useless as #### on a boar hog!
