Is Brad Brownell difficult to work & play for?
Sep 3, 2014, 1:03 PM
|
|
I've never met the man & he comes across as a good guy in interviews on paper & video. HOWEVER, there have been A LOT of coaches & players leaving the program in the past 3 or 4 years. Of course, assistants moving up is a realistic goal, but some of them have been lateral at best. Kids are fickle & expect things to be easy like in HS, but take a guy like Bernard Sullivan who would've maybe started at CU, left to go home to UNCC. Just wondering if anyone has any personal information or opinions.

The players were backups for the most part who left for more playing time.

Bender leaving ACC for SoCon is not a 'promotion'

While I agree with the others, Bender, at his age will never get a HC job after dropping down to DII.

Bernard Sullivan wasn't that great. You answered your own question about the assistants, a lot of them want to be head coaches.
The only player who left that puzzled me was Filer.

I actually liked Sullivan as he was one of the ONLY, if not THE ONLY, player to ever take it hard to the rack. He could rebound, shoot, and played lights-out. IMO we needed 5 players like him. So he was no good huh? I guess I'll stick to FB.
But then again I predicted a pathetic season last year after the FIRST game - and was spot on all season. If BB is all that great of a coach, then I guess we'll stick with him and keep having mediocre seasons. Didn't Larry Shyatt get us conditioned for that type of teams at CLEMSON? I'm glad that I don't care all that much for BKB as I would be totally disappointed year-in-year-out. It NEVER changes.

Not only are you wrong about Sullivan...but you "predicted a pathetic season last year"...and you think we had one?
Based on expectations and who we had, we had a great season last year. To even be in consideration to make the tourney last season was a testament to the job Brownell is doing here.

does in interviews. Very direct and no-nonsense, but a great all-around guy, likes to joke around as well. A couple friends of mine have played golf with him. He is EXTREMELY competitive, which is a good thing IMO. Doesn't answer your question about how he is to work and play for, but may give you some insight.

but if you can't handle a competitive streak then you're probably not the type of player Clemson needs anyway.

Can't really blame coaches for leaving a program if they're being promoted...that's ultimately one of their career goals.

Poor coach superstar is upset because no one likes him and he is too dumb to realize it.
Also pretty pathetic that you still didnt address the fact that you pretend to be some kinda expert and couldnt even get a college division correct.
