I'd assume he's basing this on the 5,000 comments by Dabo and Streeter who said that DJ is their guy and will be the starter.

Cade was a nice pawn for Dabo to use this year. Cade arrived on campus in January and set out to compete for the starting position. Up until the 1st game of the season Dabo led everyone on that Cade may be the obvious starter pick. But little did anyone suspect that Dabo was scheming to ensure that his pet project (DJ) would continue to always be the starter based on the big stories of "Cade isn't ready yet", "DJ for Heisman", and purposefully putting Cade in for a few no-win situations and immediately pulling him out. Cade has no choice but to enter the transfer portal at this time in his career and never look back. A football career is way too short to F around with Dabo pulling the strings. Best of luck to Cade!

He was a-okay being the backup to DJ this year. He welcomed the time to become acclimated and develop.

That was the beginning of the year when DJ was the leader. I'm not sure that Cade thinks DJ is a better option currently. He's not going anywhere currently, but if he gets the idea that he isn't getting a fair shake in the spring, don't be surprised if he looks elsewhere.

transfer and I wouldn’t blame him if he did. I’ve kept my cool after attending the Notre Dame game and watching that s#%tshow then watching us get beat last weekend by the chickens but if we lose Cade because of this effing craziness I will lose it. It makes no sense. After all the turnovers last week and still only losing by 1 point I truly believe putting Cade into the game in the 2nd half could have saved us.

Conversely, Cade will play when he's ready. Might need him tonight even.
I don't know how many times it needs to be pointed out - Dabo has shown he will not hesitate to replace the starting QB if the backup gives us a better chance to win.
Pretty sure Dabo wants to win every game. Agreed?
