Didnt realize there was a continued plan to increase enrollment.***

I am encouraged by the increased acceptance of in-state students in recent years--91% in 2023.

But I'm not clear....91% offered with 60K applications....That must mean a whole lot of students didn't accept the Clemson offer? Is that the right way to look at this?

Total enrollment (all 4 classes) of ~ 22,000
Assume FR class is ~ 6,000 kids.

If all incoming FR were in state kids, and their acceptance rate was 90%, then there were ~ 7,000 kids who applied to Clemson.

Instead, since ~ 65,000 kids applied to Clemson, then we have either of four things:

(1). Darn few out of state kids, get accepted into Clemson.
(2). Lots of out of state kids get accepted, but darn few of them actually end up enrolling at Clemson.
(3). There are a lot fewer in state kids who apply to Clemson.
(4). Many in state kids apply, and are subsequently accepted to Clemson, but few of them actually end up enrolling.

From data that the article provides, one cannot figure out which ‘blend’ from among the above four scenarios actually happens.

I recently overheard a conversation between a high school boy and someone who was probably a teacher or coach. The kid said he was applying to South Carolina and a nearby private school. The adult asked what about Clemson. The boy said "No, you have to be SMART to go there." So there is a real possibility that some in-state kids are weeding themselves out of Clemson's applicant pool.

Bridge and Summer programs are the difference. Bridge program is 2500-3000

Keep Clemson small and more exclusive. I don’t want to be another huge state university.

like it or not, the Carolina's population is exploding. No new schools

are being built. Either the schools grow, or the population is not provided with adequate educational opportunity

The enrollment numbers have clearly shown that.

Surprised at the 91% in state acceptance number. That seems awfully high to me, even including Bridge, etc….

Clemson is only going to continue to get larger. They want a larger alumni base. It is needed both academically and athletically to compete against the larger institutions. I think they also want to add more graduate programs like they just did with the Vet School.

We have fallen a bit in the US news and world report ranking’s over the past few years being passed by schools like Florida state….. Which I find a bit unbelievable. I’m still trying to digest how USF is in the AAU… Even though I understand how it happened.I know we have stopped playing the USNWR game….but I don’t think the quality of the education has gone down. Again, the 91% I’m state acceptance rate seems high to me.

This seems like AI generated crap. The instate admission rate at Clemson is not nearly 91%

http://media.clemson.edu/ows/web/brand/UR-Fact-Book.pdf

For 2023 the in-state acceptance rate was 4494 of 9570 in-state applicants or 49%. Yet apparently they are claiming that between “summer start” and Bridge that they’re offering 91% a path to Clemson. That’s a shockingly large number of people being offered Bridge, since I think Summer Start is pretty small.

It’s hard to even visit. Students have little chance of parking much less visitors.
