My homeowners insurance with Foremost in Sugar Mountain has denied everything as they claim it is all due to water damage.

My HO here with Farm Bureau has said the damage is ~$8,800 but that I have a deductible of $10K.

Looks like I'm out $25K or so.

Why do I have insurance again?

Any Lunge approved tips to mitigate this?

TIA

Should I set up a GoFundMe?

was to be sure to get an attorney involved if you are having issues. Once they hear 'hurricane' they deny coverage.

Why would you have a $10k deductible?

And why would you be mad to be paying out of pocket the damages up to that $10k?

That was my question. $10k is a bigun.***

get-together Wilbur was telling everyone how he was gaming the system and that $1k deductibles were for rubes and dopes.

I see no reason for a $10K deductible.

He got a check for $8800 and he maybe needed a couple grand for damage to a metal building. He even got money for buying a generator.

Have your old lady sell some bath water on the internet for a couple months. Y’all could fix the damage and have enough extra to take a vacation

Vacant house policy. I added on every add on possible. I had pipes burst and water flowing for about 3 weeks before my contractor went out to get an estimate... and said my basement was a swimming pool.

I had my policy, which had a modifier, which had some addendums... all this is added on amd I paid more for it. An addendum talked about a sudden discharge of water from burst pipes.

Foremost denied my claim because thaddendum modified the modifier, but the modifier did not specifically say that it modified the policy concerning the burst pipes. It was the most bullshittish insurance law speak I have been a part of.

That was $249,000 out of pocket... that was the start of the money put.

When my basement was a swimming pool and it ruined floors on two levels, walls, and ceilings, it was less than $20K to repair in 2008.

A bathroom and den in the first floor; the whole basement and the multi stage ac unit. With the mold that was already growing, they had to remove the top layer of the floor on the first floor... and the mold remediation. The plumbing system had to be completely redone on the first floor and basement because the pipes burst in so many places.

I mean... I have the estimate from the contractor that was submitted to the insurance company if you want to see it.
