Actually he is correct. Mafah has been injured the whole season and in the last half the pain/discomfort got worse. You could see it in the tentative running. We all could see it, you know the coaches could see it. Why didn't they get someone else ready to go then? A very telling comment from Dabo was when he asked Mafah how he felt, instead of trusting his eyes and putting in someone else.

If you did I'm sure you'll link that post so everyone can say it wasn't hindsight that brought your comment. You can say, 'See, I told you idiots Randal or one of the other WR's should move to running back!"
You wouldn't look nearly as bitter and ignorant. I'll hang up and wait.

I hope no one feels that taking our injured RB1 and continuing to run him into a brick wall over and over again with almost no relief was the right move.

While I'm not that guy up there acting like a negative troll, I did call for Randall at RB after the ACC championship game. I said it in a couple of these forums on Tigernet, and I said it on several YouTube shows. Jason Priester even read my question out loud on his show last week and shot it down. That said, I first mentioned it two weeks ago after the ACC Championship Game, not in week 6 or 7 when Mafah's injuries were starting to show.
It was good to see Randall get some much earned playing time, even if it wasn't at his original position.

You are correct. I actually laughed when I read your post and thought that was crazy. I figured the RBs we’ve had practicing behind our first 2 had to be better options…. But I was WRONG, and you sir; were correct.

Thought he looked great his first carry and he picked up the blitz on a pass play which is huge for a rb. Happy for Adam and I think his ability to play WR and RB makes our team better.

Smart move by our coaches.
To those who complain that this move should have occurred at the start of the season, be reminded that our coaches didn’t know if highly rated HS WR signees Wesco and TJ Moore would be hits.
Remember the names Beaux Collins, Joseph Ngata, and E.J. Williams? Highly regarded as HS WR recruits, mediocre as college WRs. Before the season, we had no guarantees that Wesco and TJ Moore would be sure thing studs at the college level. We would have needed Adam Randall’s skills at WR to provide a downfield threat in that circumstance.
Everybody is a genius in hindsight.

I'd tell him to continue at the receiver position if he has a legitimate chance of making and NFL roster. RBs are much more prone to injuries and early retirement.
I hope the kid stays but if he leaves I won't think less of him.

I believe if you are a receiver at Clemson you have a 95% chance of being injured, at least from 2019-2023. I don’t know what the % for RBs at every other school is though.

I think Randall's in a tough spot.
He hasn't been able to put together a full season without injury so bearing him being healthy + putting up big numbers he's probably a late round pick at best right now at WR.
However, if he were to carve out a niche as a utility player (think Deebo Samuel, Taysom Hill) he could have a better chance of sticking on a roster.
I'm curious to see how this plays out. I've been a Randall fan from the beginning despite how his career has shaped up so far. It'd be really cool to see him breakout as a WR/RB hybrid.

This makes a lot of sense. Randall has struggled to get separation at the WR position and has not shown the ability to post up and win 50/50 balls like we hopped he would.
He is tough to bring down though and can make some moves in space. Hopefully we can carve out a piece of the offensive game plan for him. He definitely has potential to be a weapon and needs to be on the field.

So I ask again, why wait till the last game?!

outperformed the guys CJ signed and/or coached up this season...I loved CJ as a player, but he hasn't recruited particularly well, hasn't coached up the position particularly well and his in-game rotation/adjustments are even worse than his recruiting and his positional coaching...However you might feel about Elliot's playcalling/gameplanning,and I thought they were poor, his work as a RB coach was excellent...He identified talent and he had them ready to contribute and they got in the mix early...We have RBs right now that we have no idea how they will actually perform in a game...and it was game 14

i love cj as a player, maybe my favorite of all time, certainly top three...but his track record as a RB coach is not impressive. Just no other way to put it. He is not half the RB coach that Tony was. And Tony was a WR in college.

How did a WR suddenly beat out Adams Jr, Eziomume & Greene in week 14?

Dec 23, 2024, 4:27 PM

In spring ball, Dabo gushed about how great Keith Adams, Jr was, and how he's a "different cat" that forces linebackers "to make business decisions". Was that all just typical Dabo preseason hype? With 3 scholarship RBs in the stable behind Mafah & Hanes, I don't understand why we had to rely on a WR to suddenly change jobs to RB.

Seems like a good move for Clemson and Adam Randall. Gives us a dimension out of the backfield with his speed and catching ability that we’ve been lacking. With the way RB’s are used in the NFL these days, having the versatility to play both positions would definitely increase his draft stock. If he gets in the weight room and builds the leg strength and improves his quickness he could be a valuable weapon next year.
