Good morning, I am concerned about the best OL going to Columbia. They have signed the best OL in SC over the past few years, and had a freshman start at LT ! We may be able to get some of the best players from at of state, but we need to start looking at home first. It seems to me that we are not as concerned about in-state recruitment as we used to be. When we became a National Champion, we started recruiting nationally, but forgot about the players in our backyard. I for one hopes this changes. To be a successful program, you need to control your own state in recruiting and winning! My 2 cents for today. Have a good day!

I don’t disagree, but you recruit talent where you find it. SC isn’t a huge state overflowing with future NFLers. But, you’re right, we should have our pick of the best ones.
I think geography plays a role - more grow up in proximity to Cooterville than to God’s Country, and we have to overcome family/region ties.

If it makes you feel any better I think Blake Franks and Kam Pringle from the 2024 class will be busts.

What makes you think this? Take off the orange glasses. They were pretty good this year as freshmen.

I'm basing this on what some credible high school folks and college scouts said about them.
Take your garnet glasses off and tell me what 2 deep they appeared on this past year and what their snap counts were for each game since you claim they were pretty good.

Pringle played like 5 snaps all season. I guess he was banged up but you'd think he'd get in some more games than that if he's that highly regarded.

No one has garnet glasses on. You're trying too hard to be a Clemson fan or something. But the original post was spot on. So was the response.
What you're in essence doing is calling Dabo and Luke dumb a$$es. As well as saying both are clueless in talent assessment. Both had really good offers, including Dabo's. As we all know, we're selective on who we offer.

Cootgalalways you're trying too hard to be a coot and sit on Beamer's lap.
BTW, Pringle committed to the coots 11 months before Luke came to Clemson. Franks committed to USuCk 9 months before Luke was hired.

Give you 1/2 cents. Don't necessarily need to sign in state if can get better out of state. And some will go to cooterville because of family or always have wanting to.

I think most of the factors mentioned in this post are true and tend to give the optic that Clemson does not focus enough attention in state.
The timing of offers looks like we are not interested and ppl like Kornblut and company speak to kids getting offers sans the inclusion of us.
Annnddd…Beamer, jr channels his inter Dabo all the time to exacerbate.
You have to think that the way they are portaling in players would make some players feel looked over. Heard of Doty lately? Did he graduate last year after Rattler came? Idk..

Majority of the state are gamecocks and most of the players are the same. You will very rarely flip a kid that grow up a fan of one school or another. You are definitely not going to win a natty signing kids from sc. that’s why we recruit nationally.

We took the #1 player in state in the last class? We get most of the ones we want in state. There isn’t that much talent in state to begin with.

Any elite program should be able to effectively recruit their own state. Yes SC isn't a hotbed of talent but there are probably 8-10 players a year that could come to Clemson and be contributors, if not more. Clemson should have their pick of most of these players and the fact we don't is indicative of larger issues.
