Sean O'Brien, president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, gave Monday's keynote speech at the Republican National Convention.
The Teamsters are the largest non-teacher union in the US.
He was the first Teamsters Boss in the organization's 121-year history to address the Republican convention.
Said Democrats have sold out to large corporations and the liberal elites that run them. Said Donald Trump is one tough SOB that will stand up and fight for the American worker.

Because it’s not lost on the workers in this nation
The NEA (teachers Union) and the AFSCME (federal and state employees Union) now control the Democratic Party.
As manufacturing was off shored and as the UAW and Teamsters ranks shrunk, they lost their influence.
Today the NEA and the AFSCME are the #1 and #3 largest unions in the US. (Service workers Union is #2)
This has enabled an environment where large corporate interests have teamed up with teachers and government employ unions whose interests are not necessarily mutually exclusive and conspired to screw the manufacturing worker and the influence of the labor unions that represent them. Why? For the power - what else?
To miss this point is to completely misunderstand how politics in Washington DC works.

They have mutual political interests that align and they have taken control over this country on the back of the American manufacturing worker

Republicans used to be about big business, but now they talk about how evil big businesses are. It's weird.
It's like they are pro business if it's a small business, and are even for corporate tax breaks in some instances, but at some point when businesses become too big they are against them.
It seems that they are against corporations who have liberal owners/CEOs. They get docked extra points if they are located in California.

At this point I’ll just point to Biden’s record on inflation
Inflation was less than 2% when he took office post pandemic
After all the hard work he did passing all his “historic landmark legislations” this country proceeded to experience the highest inflation since Jimmy Carter
Basic goods cost 30%-40% more than they did 3.5 years ago
Own it and proud of it

We were in the middle of the pandemic when he took office. It impacted the first part of his presidency in significant ways.
I don't care for the job Biden has done, but this notion by some Republicans (including Trump) that Biden was handed this great economy that he somehow ruined is ridiculous. A global pandemic would've messed up Trump's economy significantly as well (and had already started to, thanks to Trump's illogical support of shutdowns).

Why did your question change from ‘what causes inflation’ (something over which the WH has genuine influence) to ‘whaypt causes global inflation’?
It’s almost as if you recognized that your first ‘wear out / bore to death’ your opponent was too easy to defeat. Then, to escape another embarrassing argumentative defeat, you expanded (also made less relevant to the thread) your question as if that is what your ‘debate opponent’ had been focused the entire time.
OK, I’m done. Please give me the courtesy of a reply by posting of a funny gif.

If Democrats fought to keep manufacturing jobs in the US, there would be no opening here
If Democrats had protected US workers by refusing to allow millions of illegal immigrants in and bid down otherwise good paying jobs, there wouldn’t be a shift
If democrats valued rewarding hard work over free handouts, average working Joe’s wouldn’t be abandoning them

The point here is that conservatives generally don't support overly aggressive unions. The Teamsters give the unions there stereotype!
So I'll ask again...why would the GOP invite the President of the Teamsters to be the keynote speaker on opening night and allow him to bash business. Do any Trump supporters agree with what he said about chamber of commerces? Did anyone actually listen to his speech?

RNC invited Teamster Union boss to speak during the convention to, hold onto your chair, hear what he had to say.
Teamsters are likely to not endorse the Democrat nominee for president. Been a LOOOONGGG time since Teamsters did not endorse a Democrat candidate for president.
Hearing what the guy had to say, which included his perspectives about the views of his members, has got to be of interest to the RNC.
The RNC has shown that the non-RINO Republican Party is happy to give daylight to diverse groups. Muslims got a big piece of priority time, for example.
This agenda by the Trump led RNC must be frustrating to Democrats and RINOs that had blasted the Trump / Hitler tropes since 2015. This RNC convention is confounding to the TDS’ers.

The Teamsters leadership may not ever endorse Republicans but you can bet a large percentage of their members vote for them. I'd guess that's why they were invited, along with the big tent theme they are obviously pushing. This is a stark contrast to the left which has a dozen different purity tests somebody has to swear allegiance to before being allowed anywhere near their convention.

do you mean so GOP members could hear what he had to say? Is that point of convention speakers? Seems like that would be better suited for platform discussion groups and policy discussion groups. The Keynote speaker should be someone that reflects the party's thinking and someone that can make impact with the voters.
If you say you agree in general with the Teamsters dang sure don't claim to be a conservative! Further proof that YOU and your ilk may be the actual RINOs! You don't have a friggin clue as to what you're talking about.

I never claimed to be a ‘conservative’ in the hijacked definition of that term as used to describe Republicans of the Bush family.
I consider ‘conservative’ in the political context as meaning a governing philosophy closely guided by the Constitution, as opposed to a governing philosophy that changes according to the vagaries of emotional topics and the special interests of the wealthy elite.
So, based on how most RINOs and Democrats define ‘conservative,’ I am not a conservative.

These are the folks offshoring American jobs to sweat shops in China and Vietnam at the expense of American workers and American manufacturing jobs
They fight free trade / fair trade and tariffs tooth and nail
So when Biden argues against tariffs and against fair trade, he’s inviting an alliance between unions and the Republican Party.
For the life of me, I cannot understand Biden’s insistence on fighting trump on the tariffs. It’s an unforced error and it’s just dumb.
Admit trump was right, double down on it, and show the UAW and Teamsters you are going to keep jobs in the USA.
I feel like this is one of those issues where they let the hate for trump cloud their hood political judgement.

How does one fight free trade and tariffs?...

You know they are opposites of each other, right?
Trump started a trade war with China...the final equilibrium is US consumers paying 25% more on goods from China and x% more for goods that contain components from China...and China having in-kind tariffs on imports from the US.
It's a major contribution to inflation here and had a very small net change on US manufacturing (meaning about the same number of jobs were lost as gained).
And saying big business and large corps are evil and all offshore jobs shows a certain level of ignorance and historically would have fit you nicely as a liberal Democrat.
Sure some jobs get off-shored, but a lot/most don't. And the fix certainly isn't a protectionist stance when the global economy is more intertwined than ever and I'm the midst of a labor shortage.
In other words...YOU may be the RINO!
