In early July, 1776, a ragtag group of criminals met in

Philadelphia, in the British Crown Colony of Pennsylvania. That is how they were viewed in the eyes of Mother England. These miscreants voted on, and then officially adopted a document that came to be known as The Declaration of Independence. Their intent was to sever all ties with the British Crown, becoming a separate nation unto themselves.

To British subjects, this movement was almost laughable at first. Such was the power of the British Empire. To be challenging that power was unthinkable. But, as time wore on, they realized that these scruffy, rebellious colonists meant business. And, for them, it was all or nothing. They would surely be put to death if they did not win this armed conflict. If any proof of that was needed, look no further than right here in South Carolina. A small group of rebels waved the white flag and tried to surrender in Waxhaw, South Carolina in May of 1780. The British brutally slaughtered over 100 of them instead.

But, eventually, through some terrific battles, a dose of good luck, and what would become known as the American Fighting Spirit, the Colonies prevailed, and won their Independence. That is what we celebrate today, among the cookouts and family get-togethers. We celebrate the birth of what is still, despite her many flaws, the greatest country in the world. Happy Birthday, America.

I love this country and I love my state of South Carolina but what politicians have done to this greatest of experiments is disgusting. Our Founders would be embarrassed of what we have become. The fact we have judges and politicians that would wipe their feet on Our Founding Document is a disgrace. This has nothing to do with one side or the other because both sides are guilty of all. We need to take our country back by electing people that follow our founding. With that said I love the 🇺🇲 and all who have sacrificed their own lives for the idea of freedom. That sacrifice I'm talking about goes from those in boot camp to those who paid the ultimate price. Just know you are loved and appreciated more than you know and that your sacrifice has not and will not go unnoticed. God Bless you and God Forever Bless these United States of America. Happy 4th of July. Go Tigers!!!
