Important QB Stats...

So far this season DJ has thrown 5 TD passes...6 pics...and given up 3 TDs via pic/strip 6s.
Early on I shook my head at those who were calling for TP to get the nod over DJ. I'm just not sold on what we've seen from TP so far in very limited career action.
But at this point, the refusal of our offensive staff to even give him a chance is just ridiculous.
This is just stunningly bad QB performance, even factoring in the drops.

I refused to keep track because I knew they were embarrassing but dang, that’s historically bad.

Historically bad? I seem to recall a game against Va Tech in the late 90's where a QB who will remain nameless completed as many passes (if not more) to the Hokies defense as he did to the Tigers' receivers.
I'm sorry. I stand corrected. That QB (who will remain nameless) completed 6 passes to Tigers' receivers and 4 to the Hokies.

I always say DJ is the second worst QB statistically for Clemson in the past 50 years. You just mentioned the worst. But that QB seemed to be extremely accurate, he was just confused about who he was supposed to throw to. Wonder what he's doing now? If he's got the mechanics down, he might be a good guy to coach 5 Star, unanimous first round draft prospects.

We went into this season ranked in the top 3 but neither of our QBs should be starting for any Power 5 team so now we are unranked and among the worst offenses in the country. Hope we do a better job of recruiting/developing our QBs going forward because whiffing on this position pretty much ruins your season.

I think some players are practice warriors versus game warriors. And vice versa. I cannot compare a QB that plays two series every 3 games against someone who is taking the majority of the snaps in practice and almost all the snaps during the game. I can only wonder how worse can we be trying another QB. More interceptions? More sacks? More fumbles? Less completions? Less yards on QB keepers?

I don't care who looks better in practice. I played ball at a fairly high level. There were those who weren't always as good in practice as they were in games. Three of my teammates didn't do well in practice, either sleepwalking through it or just couldn't perform without that extra adrenaline. Two of the three made it to the NFL and the third went pro in a different sport. The fact is, we have game stats now, and DJ is the second worst QB in the entire Power-5 except for Will Plummer at Arizona. And contrary to what some people are saying, he is NOT improving, as his stats are making him slip further and further down. Taisun or Hunter literally could not do worse.

Even if TP can't throw worth a toot, he can run the read option better. Switching to a QB who can't throw is break-even at worst.

re the strip/pick 6's...
UGA game - Ross did not run the correct route, DJ threw it where Ross should have been and he was not but the UGA d back was...
Pitt Game - all on DJ - really bad play all around
FSU game - right tackle beaten badly, strip sack during throwing motion, receiver ran wrong route (according to coaches post game), he came from DJ's back right.
So how are these on DJ?
How many TD passes should he have?
How many dropped passes should we have?
How many hurries due to O-line breakdowns should we have? O-line has had ZERO continuity all season with injuries.
DJ is surely a part of the problem but he isn't "the problem"...
He's not mobile, I think we have learned that this year. So we have to be able to protect the pocket long enough for him to get thru his reads... that is not a common occurrence this year.
