I'm starting to believe. I saw an article earlier from a guy who said he had some inside info that Banks really wasn't interested in Miami and Clemson was much more "intriguing."

Because he sucks. He's fielded 1 top 20 defense at Tennessee in 4 years with all of the portal usage and financial resources that they have. The fans hate him, and he runs a soft zone. Quite frankly it's just really not an improvement over Pork chop.

Venables had not put together any earth shattering defenses at Oklahoma when we hired him. But, Dabo likes his scheme, aggression, and intensity. Banks was high on the stat that we have been lacking and that I believe that Dabo values the most, and I know I do. Tackles for a loss. Tennessee was top 10 in TFLs. Most on here agreed, Wes was not an idiot. He understands how to scheme a defense and gameplan. It was his personality that was lacking. Maybe Banks is the guy this defense needs to light a fire under it and play to their potential. And maybe his experience using the portal would be good to have on staff.

That Tennessee defense wasn’t some big NIL bought unit. The only transfers that really had an impact were DB transfers from Oregon State and Middle Tennessee that no one else really wanted. Norman-Lott on the DL that was like the 500th rated player in the portal from Arizona State. Guys like James Pearce are people he helped recruit. That wasn’t some loaded defense and he did a great job with it.

If Dabo hires Tim Banks it will be another miss. Honestly could end up being Dabo's worst hire to date. Would've been better off keeping Goodwin and finding someone with experience to replace Conn.

What someone said on a podcast. If they had reasons they would list it. They say it cause some guy they follow on X said this and here we are lol. Stats are in the pudding. Yes they got ran through by OSU but didn’t Brent? And LSU… but guys it happens. The thing is his defense got us there. Anything at this point is better than Wes and that scheme, but a guy that fields a top ten defense with tenacity and aggression, bring it.

Not really he has had one good season. Anybody with a pulse has roughed them up. Also you have got to ask yourself why Tenn hasn’t renewed his contract.

They haven’t given up over 20 all year but the 23 by vandy … and of course oh state but that’s an outlier they just did that to Oregon and are a buzz saw right now. BV had some terrible games during his tenure here too , banks has def turned that defense around and consistently gotten better over 4 years… I don’t know if he’s the guy and would prefer a big name but if it is him I will have a ton more confidence than I did in Wes they aren’t even comparable

They have up 20 points one time this year … oh state is a buzz saw right now and also did the same thing to landings Oregon defense… banks in four years has brought tenn from tanked around 90th to top 10

Exactly … if you are basing it off of one game then we don’t need to be talking ball together lol I just don’t get the hate for banks … is he like my number one wish list coach if I had a pick , prob not… but dude took tenn from the 90th ranked defense and consistently got better and in year 4 has them statistically one of the best defenses in the country… and he’s turned recruiting around there on def big time. Just wish ppl did just a tad bit of research before they make themselves sound so dumb… “no better than Goodwin” lol that guy has no clue
