But I will say I was encouraged by what I saw today. Other than that last drive before half I thought the defensive play calling was good. Defense held a prolific offense down very well. Offense finally looked like what I’d been waiting to see. Tyler brown continues to show out and Stellato made a case for himself today. We need a kicker. And we still need to clean up some of the silly offensive play calling on occasion. You can’t fault Mafah for one missed block, that’s football, it happens. Unfortunate but not a trend.

A trend is having a TO lead to an opponent TD. A trend is wasting downs on runs up the middle with no interior OL push. Shoot, bring Morris back!

because they force the D to defend them, thus keeping the successful outside plays, successful.

If you asked me two weeks ago, FSU looked like they could beat anyone in the country. And we looked like we’d struggle to win a game. I thought we were going to get embarrassed. But Clemson played with grit and made it a heck of a game. This game was something to build off. Maybe this year we are already away from our goals, but I’m seeing growth. Cade looked good. Our receivers looked improved. Of course I’m disappointed we lost, but I’m hopeful for once.

Let me put it this way. I feel better about our Clemson tigers after this game than I did before it

I'm not a sunshine pumper either but I also think you and I are of different opinions because I do not believe in "moral victories".

But this isn’t about a “moral victory”. It is seeing true improvement that we can build from. Other than the silly RPO choice and a couple other play calls I liked how the offense looked. Utilized tight ends, saw some slants, used the middle of the field. Not constant bubble screens. Same with defense. Played very well with the exception of the drive before half. If Clemson plays the way they did today they can beat anyone left on the schedule, especially if they continue to improve

Yes you can fault Mafah. You're calling out everything else, what's so special about him?

You misunderstood. I obviously did call out that he missed a key block. What I’m saying is that was a singular bad play. Everyone makes some bad plays. That’s football. I’m looking with a wider lense at the team. The glaring issues from a 1000 feet glance are kicking and some clock management/situational offensive play calling. Otherwise much improvement on many fronts

Receiver room got alot deeper today and defense showed they can hold a prolific offense to a couple scores.. the game winner was on a backup in good coverage. This team will be good if the continue getting better each week
