Yeah I was editing my post while you replied. It's just been so obviously bad these past 8 years in particular. "Journalists" are a joke. They view themselves now as societal "influencers" with a sacred higher calling rather than reporters.

Wish I could give you many tu's for that one. I may be mistaken but I've come to believe it all started with Watergate where journalists and the media came up with a great ah-ha moment that saw them able to tear down an administration by influencing the populace. I'll admit not truly knowing what all actually happened there Bernstein and his partner enjoyed unique adulation. I can see how others could think they'd enjoy such celebrity.

those covering the team need to have access. you know this. Thirty years ago there was ESPN, local radio, and a couple of tv stations covering an event like this today. Twenty years ago a dozen or so more media (hello bloggers and early TigerNet). It’s like non-sports media (politics is a great example). Now pretty much unlimited media. The University can choose with whom they play. Hood asks that question, a couple of things happen:
1) Hood comes across as a small minded troll (this is not the place to dissect last year)
2) He draws the ire of Dabo, the staff, pretty much everyone
3) He loses any sort of credential/access allotted by the university
4) Hood gets fired
5) Hood starts an OnlyFans site
6) Hood closes his OnlyFans site
7) TigerNet gets put on double secret probation until new beat writer (or whatever role is now called) proves they understand their place

What did you want him to do? He fired the DC that was obviously the problem with stopping the run. Should he have been unprofessional and disparaged Wes? Come on, you know Dabo won’t do that.

He did. He said he was responsible and left it at that. I like coaches taking the high ground rather than throw people under the bus. He took care of the DC problem. No point in doing anything else. That's all the explanation we need. He gave Wes a shot, didn't work out, and moved on. Why would he say a thing to disparage him now?

This is a ridiculous thread. It's the new mindset where you feel the need for someone to get absolutely trashed and canceled for you to feel satisfied about something you have no stake in. He fired the DC and hired a new one. Did you want a breakdown on every play where the defense gave up 10+ yards? "Whiteboard with 22 Xs & Os?

It was the fundamentals that were lacking. Getting off blocks, tackling, leverage, fitting gaps, setting edge, etc.
It was obvious to me that Goodwin could gameplan with the best of them. In game Adjustments were hit or miss, but the main downfall was simply poor fundamentals.

A good journalist would not ask that question. Dabo would not give a comprehensive answer.
Dabo’s not gonna spend any time talking to the public about the 2024 defense.
A good journalist would’ve asked what are we gonna do in the future to improve the run defense. I don’t know if this question was asked in the press conference.

Today’s press conference was the wrong time to ask questions which had the desired response being the trashing of an assistant coach, whether that assistant coach is still with the program or not.
The governor doesn’t provide a hard hitting response to a question about the state treasurer’s embezzlement of funds during a celebratory event lauding the efforts of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to cheer up senior citizens in retirement homes.

I'm disappointed no one asked him why he selected Wes & Conn as DC's over Eason and Reed? (Although I think we know the answer, just don't want to admit it). Also why was Wes the only DC fired and Conn still retained? (I think we also know the answer to this also).

Wes was what happened to the run D. Dabo took the full blame for failing the Players, and Wes. Which I commend him for. Leave it or dwell on that failure. I know I'm looking to the future!

Dabo basically admitted that promoting Wes was a mistake and that hiring Allen was correcting that mistake. He said it im a very diplomatic way, but that was the gist of it.
