For those still learning the new playoff system (like me) it appears that if we win out from here, including the ACC championship game, we could be a top 4 seed and get a bye in the first round of the playoffs. That's cool but another possibility is hosting a playoff at home or traveling to a playoff game at the opponents home field. I think hosting a playoff game could be super exciting, especially if it was a night. Wow, what an environment that would be. Maybe we could even get the balloons back or maybe a drone show! LOL

I don't see a scenario where we don't win the ACC championship and still host a first-round game. Would have to be ranked 5-8. Not going to happen as a two loss ACC non champion. We could still fall in the 9-12 and travel somewhere fun.

I liked the 4 because it rewarded excellence. More teams mean more arguments on who was left out and the ESPN loading it up w SEC teams. I hope we win enough to get a shot at CFP either way

There is no debate. Hosting a Playoff game would be outstanding, but between that and getting a bye, there is a clear right answer (and it's not hosting).

The only chance is if Clemson goes undefeated rest of the way and through the weird tiebreakers doesn’t get into acccg. Thus we’d be 11-1 and very likely in the top 8. Good chance we get there before November and maintain with VT, Pitt, and UScar still to go which is solid enough to stay there.

Not quite. The top 4 ranked conference champs are automatic. If the ACC champ somehow falls behind Iowa St and Boise State, for example, and those 2 win their conferences, the ACC would not get a bye.

The games will be played at night, in December, on a week day.
It will be tough to get to Clemson after working all day for those of us that live over 100 miles away.
