Next Stop: At Louisville! - And Still All In!! (Long)

Tomorrow, our football program, Clemson football, plays at Louisville. Despite the disappointing record, that still means something to each of us. Because we each hold Clemson passionately within us. Clemson is a part of who we are. Deep within our hearts.

If you have followed Clemson football as long as I have, you remember seasons when hoping for a bowl bid was the goal – not a guarantee. I can remember when Clemson fans packed Death Valley for games against top ranked teams like FSU when we knew we were outmanned. Back then, we hoped to win more than we expected to win.

Then things changed!

Obviously, none of us wanted to return to a minor bowl game being a goal in mid-November. None of us wants this type of season to become the norm again. But being a Clemson fan has never been about cheering only when everything is perfect. It is about continuing to stand tall with the Tiges even when facing adversity.

Challenging season or not, that paw on the helmet still means something. Clemson has competed for championships before. And when we do get through this, we will rise to compete for championships again.

Maybe Louisville sees 4–5 and thinks that we’re done. But let’s never forget who we are. Clemson is a tradition. A way of life. And that doesn’t fade with adversity. Frustrating season or not, this is still Clemson Football. The same program that’s given us numerous moments of joy, moments of pride, and moments of near cardiac arrests!

So, when the Tigers take the field in Louisville tomorrow, it will not be with playoff dreams. But it will still be with pride. The kind of pride that doesn’t fade with the record. And we will still be All In! Because Clemson is not just a program. Clemson football – and Clemson athletics as a whole – is a part of who we are. Tomorrow is our next opportunity to remind everyone, including ourselves, what “All In” really means.
