Nobody really has anywhere to go, so there isn't much of a chance if an implosion.

To AThomas: It will NEVER be Big 12.
ACC will die, not if.
Change in this instance is GOOD. Being in the ACC HAMPERS Clemson bigtime. There is a reason why our admin. wants out.
Everything that has been spoken about the P2, including what Dabo has said, has/is coming to fruition.
AThomas: you don't need to worry abt Clemson's Admin not studying this from all angles...it has been, for YEARS.

Wanting to get out, and being able to get out, are two different things. That goes for all the schools.

I kind of agree with some others on here , i'm over it with the SEC/ Big10 thing, and i truly mean that, if the headlines tommorrow were "clemson fsu bolt to the sec (or big10" i wouldn't care or be excited in the slightest. In fact i'm starting to root for staying in the ACC, i simply dont wont to be associated with that controlled propaganda conference.
I know alot of people will point out that Clemson NEEDS to get into the SEC or Big10 very badly because they will point to the money 100 million a year, and point out how far behind clemson will be in only 3-4 years from now etc. ..........too the all people who think in fear like that let me just go on a little personal opinion ramble
firstly i would say relax, 2ndly i can promise you Vandy or anyone else in the SEC wont be getting that 100 million ten years from now, its all going to blow up and i dont mean just college football structure, this entire financial structure scheme is going to collapse way before new college football formats or conferences will ever matter. Focus on year to year and enjoy this years team, like Dabo alluded to in the article today he's just focused on his players and team this coming year, projecting the future of college football and conference changes etc is really just like projecting what banking will be like ten years from now, in my opinion its all going to be radically different, something you wont recognize which is another way of saying the current way is already dead it's just being propped up as a novelty.

Its not fear, its being proactive. Its reality--the difference in $$$. It matters. You can focus on this years team, and still look fwd and anticipate the future. That's exactly what Dabo is doing. He knows its going to P2, possibly P1, and Dabo has said that for years now.... I share his confidence in Clemson's future. No fear here.....
Clemson leaving the ACC will be the biggest sporting news in school history. Its a BIG deal---no pun intended. People will care. You may not care about the SEC or the B1G, but they (P2) are in the midst of taking over. Just b/c ppl discuss it doesn't imply fear at all..... I would call it anticipation. The Clemson admin doesn't want to "stay in the ACC." Absent nostalgia, stubbornness to change, etc....there is no reason to continue to stay in a conference where we are grossly underpaid while other schools like BC and SYR...schools who we shouldn't even be in the same conference with, FEED off of us with very little contribution.
What evidence do you have its going to "blow up?" The evidence we do have are the new TV contracts for the SEC, the B1G and the CFP that go way into the future. Those are facts. Barring a global catastrophe, or some hidden info no one knows about, you look at established patterns, established contracts. Money isn't going down. Its going up. Wait till its P2 and they are in total control and the NCAA is out. That's when the money goes parabolic.
I agree with one assessment you made. Ppl should relax. Clemson is in a GREAT spot. The Clemson administration has positioned us in a GREAT spot. Enjoy the ride...change is GOOD and Clemson will end up in a GREAT spot thanks to leadership being proactive

for…regardless of what conference/division we are competing in. I think the SEC and B1G have both jumped the shark, and the inevitable implosion will be in their empire building schemes. I believe that those behemoth conferences will eventually collapse under their own weight.
I am content to wait and watch, and let the chips fall where they may. If that means we are in the ACC long term, so be it.

Dabo does not worry about that which he has no control over. He is focused on that which he can control.
We are in good hands.

I’m good with the Big12 personally. Has to be more cash and guessing everyone cannot go the SEC/B1G route.

What about the Big 12 is good? I really have to ask because I see people say this all the time. What teams excite you? What is must see college football in the Big 12? What’s the best matchup? To me, it’s all castoffs and never will bes. Without Tx and Ok to give their conference meaning, I think their viewership is gonna be very meh. Just my opinion.

There will NEVER be a college universe where Purdue, Northwestern, Illinois, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and the UofSC are allowed to play for the Natty in football and Clemson, FSU and Miami are not. Wherever we are is where you will need to be.

Wednesday not need to follow those injuns into Armageddon...let them drown in their own vomit...seems some of you have been out of touch with reality for the past 7 years...those savages have made a mockery of ACC football...paid coaches for doing nothing or something worse and are now stealing players from other teams and paying them with our money...either you don't care or you are FSU trolls wanting company! Stay true Dabo...forget those horse eaters!

The implosion depends on what happens after FSU....

FSU is leaving the conference. It's not a matter of if, but a matter of when & for how much.
If the rest of the conference stays together, we can survive. But I fully expect UNC to try to get out. If UNC leaves, I think then UVA might go along with them.
So, let's play it out:
FSU & Notre Dame (finally) to the B1G. UNC & one more to the SEC, maybe UVA. UVA stinks, but they'll weasel their way into one of the Power 2.
Miami and Clemson are next up. And I'm thinking the SEC doesn't go for either. I think you both end up in the B1G eventually, but it may take a while.
The rest of the ACC: GT, VT, NC State, Duke, Wake, Louisville, Pitt, BC, Syracuse, Cal, Stanford, SMU....at that point, it's either a decision to stay together and play at whatever division we'll be left behind in, or we all go into full-on panic with some bailing out into the Big 12.
I see 6 of the ACC into the Power 2 eventually. It could take another 5-10 years for all of that to happen. The other 12 either hang together in a good academic conference but not a "Power" conference anymore, or they cast their lot with the Big 12.
I wish GT had a shot getting in the Power 2. But I don't think we provide enough TV market revenue.

Why do ya'll sit around and fantasize about leaving the ACC? We're the kings of this conference, and it's the easiest path to the playoffs. College sports is regional ffs.
Please stop being mindless sheep the click bait media brainwashes bc they need to make up drama to write about. Clemson makes plenty of money. Go to the SEC and get your teeth kicked in every other week after Dabo leaves in a few years. All for a whopping $15M extra dollars a year that will spent funding the women's sports teams. Cause that is exactly what is going to happen.

There has been no indication that either the SEC or the Big Ten have any interest in Clemson. It makes sense, Clemson is a smaller school and a smaller market, and brings nothing to the table from the national TV audience perspective. Clemson fans think were a big brand, but in reality, as far as marketing goes, we’re really not. Therefore, I don’t see Clemson going anywhere because no one’s going to ask us to join their other conference, except for maybe the Big 12, which I doubt we would do.
