I understand how big a game this is and how emotions of fans, both teams, run high. I have no desire to stoke those emotions or fan the flames. If asked, I'll give my honest, albeit biased, perception.
As is, I'll make these observations.
1. Never get too high over a win or too low over a loss. Before the FSU game yesterday Nole fans were expecting a 40+ point win and possibly a shut out. Nole fans were talking about going into Death Valley and winning by 20+. After the game those same fans are talking about losing by 20 next Saturday and wanting to fire the DC and half the defensive coaches.
2. I made the comment during the FSU game on this board that our LBs are clueless when it comes to pass defense. I stand by that comment. Backs running free coming out of the backfield. Zones being completely vacated.
3. Was yesterday an anamoly for FSU? Was it just one of "those games"? Or was FSU exposed? Next Saturday will go a long way in answering that.
4. If FAU played BC on a neutral field, FAU would be favored.
5. One thing seems obvious to me. If the game comes down to a 42 yard FG to win the game, fans from both teams are hoping it is the other team kicking it.

Our kicking is the most scary part of our game! I do not recall ever being shocked at how bad our PK'ing has been.
That said, I always wanted to ask if you were the shirtless professor reading a book in the FSU stands? While that was pretty funny, that was the epitome of FSU football during that time.

Brett- no need to be quiet. I am pulling hard for my Tigers, but I expect FSU to win this game.
1. Our kicking game is not in a good state right now. Maybe Gunn settles in and does much better moving forward.
2. The offensive has not looked good. Honestly, on many of plays against FAU and CSU they could not get much push or open hole. Also, there seems to be pressure on 80% of the pass plays even the good ones. I get it if we are playing good D-lines, but this was Charleston Southern and FAU. Thus, my reason for concern. Not sure we hold up too well against Verse and Co.
3. Receivers are still an issue, but Cade is distributing the ball well and we have a freshman in Brown that is really starting to step up.
I expect somewhat of a defensive battle. My feelings right now are 24-21 Noles.

You make several cogent points. Our O line is goiig to be a liability and Seminoles will exploit that. We will play them tough and close but I don’t see a win this week.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Looks like both teams have issues, but I’m not expecting to win this game. I would be thrilled if we did, but it doesn’t look like our o line or receivers are hitting on much right now, and if it comes down to a field goal I’m not sure we can handle the pressure there either.
The only advantage we have right now is that it’s a home game

So proud… You are so proud of a team bought and paid for. Honestly man, your Noles would be NOTHING without the portal. I don’t see how a man of your seemingly high character can stomach fielding a team of players from 50 other teams. It’s gross.
If you guys win, which is going to be harder than your fan base thinks, enjoy it. You could be back to 5 wins next year. It all depends on free agency.

I meant I have no desire to come on this board and talk smack.
Right now, I fear our defense was exposed.
1. Our LBs seem to have been clueless all year, especially on pass defense. But, after the game some Nole commentators were saying it was the DBs that were letting receivers run wide open on those two plays on the opening drive.
2. We gave up 4 or 5 first downs on 3rd and 20+. As one guy said, "It wasn't a tight throw into a mall window, or a 50/50 jump ball. How can DBs let guys 30 yards down the field run wide open?
3. Our DL is supposed to be very elite. BC, the team that lost to Northern Illinois and barely beat Holy Cross, gashed us up the middle.
4. Jared Verse has not had a sack all year? Is it because he is being double teamed? Then, how come our DL had zero sacks until late in the game when we were rushing 6 or 7 guys?
5. How can a QB run for 45 yards on a called QB draw (not a scramble) on 3rd and 17? Both LBs sprinted to outside the hashmarks at the snap and there was no safety in the middle of the field? I mark that up to the defensive play call.
With all that said, I still expect that FSU and Clemson will play agian in Charlotte, regardless of who wins this Saturday.
I have a lot more concerns about the defense, and some about the offense, but remembering my #1 rule, I'll shut up.
