Me? A fellow Tnetter, who shall remain nameless, paid me some extra cash to remove a dead animal from his crawl space. But when I got there, I could tell it was no dead animal from he smell, and he wanted me to go in alone without a flashlight or my tools. There was something off about the guy, so I took off running. I found out later that several people in his county have gone missing over the past few years and I very well could have been one of them. To this day the entire experience gives me the willies.
How about you guys?

The second time I jumped out of an airplane

The first time was strictly a conditioned reflex I was standing in the door and the jumpmaster hit me on the back and said "Go." I just jumped like I had done on the ground training a hundred times. The second time I knew what was going to happen.
To make it worse we were jumping from C-119s flown by the Alabama Air guard. After the second jump I felt safer jumping than landing in one of those suckers.

Did they tell you the story about one of those planes skidding off the runway when it landed after the jump and claim it was the week before. Made me glad I wasn't coming back with the plane.

I note that you said he PAID you some extra cash. Since you took off running, with his cash, he should have had you arrested for fraud. Sounds to me like you scammed him and are now trying to establish an alibi.
FM should remove scammers from tnet. 😎

Nothing scares me anymore. I've become so jaded with life, that if a scary clown invited me into the dark woods, I'd just go with him.

That was a piece of cake for me - I was in the Army and decided right then that I would sign up for jump school. Second time I flew, I really flew.... out the door with a 'chute.

jet, I did not know that the engine cover behind the engine flips down to "reverse" the engines on landing. On my SECOND flight, I had a seat right behind the wing, and happened to be looking out the window when that cover flipped off the engine unexpectedly (for ME). I nearly soiled my pants before I realized that must have been normal, because nobody else was getting excited.

Went to a "work" party with Dad as a kid...must have been 6 maybe 7 years old. Some drunk had a bass boat with a big motor and was pulling a tube behind. The older kids were all laughing and having a good time so I asked to go. The drunk assthole driving that bass boat pinned it and I was flying on the back of that thing going 50+ screaming and crying for my life. He was so drunk he thought my screams where shrills of joy and just kept on going. Those 7-8 minutes of pure terror seemed like hours.

I worked part-time for Beckwith Plumbing and was delivering and installing a new washer somewhere out toward Seneca. I was driving a large, noisy delivery van. There was an ungated, unlit RR crossing just before my delivery and I was barreling up to it on my last stop of the day. I never heard or saw the train until I was a few car lengths short of the crossing. I slammed the brakes and stopped inches short of the speeding freight. The washing machine broke the restraints and slammed against the steel-grated panel behind me. The panel truck had a flat front windshield and grill and I was close enough that I could have reached out and touched the train. I remember it was a Friday and my heart raced for 3 days. It can still occasionally pucker me tight enough to grunt.

Had a pretty minor heart attack on January 18. Got a stent and was seemingly good to go. On the 19th, they said they would keep me overnight and I could go home the next morning. My wife went home to get a good night’s sleep; I watched Creed 2 and went to sleep.
Next thing I knew, it was early morning January 20, and I woke up in an ICU room, intubated with a crowd of people and medical apparatus around me. I had gone into full cardiac arrest overnight, and they had to shock me several times with the paddles to get me back. Very close call, and they said if I had gone home and this had happened there, it would have been all over. That was less than a week after we lost to LSU in the national championship game.
The morning after our very next loss, to Notre Dame in November 2020, I had a stroke. Strangely, the same couple that was visiting us in January was visiting again…their very next visit. Safe to say, they don’t visit during football season any more.

First time I got on the back of a bull. Block & Bridle club used to host bull riding and barrel racing every Thursday night across from Tri-County Tech. It was something I always thought I'd enjoy and be good at given my innate balance and build. I remember someone let me borrow their gear and I signed up. I remember praying that no one could see my legs and hands shaking as I lowered down in the chute. That first ride only lasted about 3-4 seconds, but the initial fear of what might happen seemed to last an eternity. After that I loved it and was there almost every Thursday night.

I was flying in a small twin-engine plane once...

in really foggy weather. There were six of us on the plane (four passengers, a pilot and a co-pilot). One of the passengers was also a pilot. He and I were facing the cockpit. He was watching the altimeter and he told me if we got down to 200 feet without braking thru the fog we would have to divert to another airport until the fog cleared. So I started watching the altimeter too. When we got down to 150 feet and the fog still hadn't cleared, he and I both started getting nervous. After another couple of minutes, all of a sudden we broke through the fog and we were nearly scraping the tops of the friggin' trees, and coming in perpendicular to the runway. The pilot hit the throttle and started to climb very rapidly. Come to find out, it was a novice pilot in training. Absolutely scared the **** out of me.

Our church used to put on a Christmas show every year called the living tree. It was a sight to see and absolutely beautiful when fully lit and filled with our choir. That all changed for me the day I volunteered to help set it up. It took several men to carry the center piece into the church and up onto the stage. Once on stage it had to be raised up and moved into place. I was terrified. That thing was massive and we had to be extremely careful. I just remember one of the older guys saying "please, if this thing tilts or looks like it's coming down please move away quickly." It would easily kill anyone it landed on much less destroy most of the pews in its path. It blew my mind that the floor could hold it. I never had a sense of fear come over me like that and I hope I never will again. I miss the performances but I'm glad to say we no longer use that monster.

I was at a football game in January 2017 at Raymond James Stadium watching Clemson and Alabama. We had just scored the go ahead TD on a short pass from Watson to Renfro and then kicked off with almost no time on the clock. Inexplicably our kicker onside kicked it putting the ball at risk of being recovered by Alabama in our territory with enough time for one shot at the end zone to possibly steal the National Championship from us! I will never, ever, as long as I live, understand what crazy ### thought went through William Christopher Swinney’s mind before that kickoff that he chose to run such a risky play. That scared the crap out of me.

They kicked off to us knowing that they couldn't stop our offense. It was a fantastic play which we had probably been working on for all season. You trick me out of a shot to win so I show you how it feels, you buttwipe!

Scaredest I ever been, I was twenty-five playing some dive in Rockingham with my band the Creeping Things. Our bass player was this Thor-looking chick named Thelma, about 6'5" or so, and the only person I've ever known could breathe fire ala Gene Simmons of Kiss. I had long hair then and used gel to keep it being too fuzzy, and as we closed the show with our pulse-pounding song 'Bleed'em and Weep', Thelma tripped over a speaker cable as she spat out flames.
My head was suddenly on fire, and I thought I was toast.
Turns out that gel was flammable.
Pitcher of beer to the face never felt so good.
