He set the example for all coaches at Clemson.

Showing that you could basically have a lifetime contract for millions of dollars and only have to produce moderate success once or twice a decade.

It's actually true. Cliff Ellis survived so long because he was the coach during the Ford glory years. When Lennon and Hatfield tanked the football program, more attention was paid to the basketball mediocrity. If Dabo does not make the necessary changes, more attention will be paid to Brownell's losing to SEC cellar-dweller SC, never winning more than one game in the ACCT, and embarrassing post-season losses to huge underdogs (often at LJ).
