against the coots, and I'm looking for a win. Here is why:
We are ranked 14th in the nation for points per game. Last year we were at 52. For contrast: the dirtpeckers are ranked at 47th in the nation for PPG.
Cade has 26 TD's to 4 Int's averaging 256/yds a game with a total of 2,563 yds this year Coots QB, Sellers has 14TD's to 5 Int's averaging 200/yds a game with 1803 yds this year
Their best RB has 749 yds, and their 2nd guy has 174. Mafah has 998 yds, and Haynes is at 151. I think Adams Jr. could get some carries as well, we'll see. I realize Mafah is not 100%, but that nasty block he laid on that blitzing LB at Pitt for Cade to make his TD run gives me hope..
They've got some WR's, 3 actually that standout in the numbers averaging around 19/yds catch. However, that's if the QB can get the ball to them... Mizzou was able to put pressure on him, and I think Clemson can do the same. With Woods healthy, Parker as a threat off the edge (approaching 10+ sack season), Sammy is back, etc. we should be able to put pressure on the QB all night.
We've got a stable of talented, young WR's. Wesco averaging 17.9 yds/play, Moore at 16.5, Turner at 16.4, and Williams at 11.6. That's not even including Randall in the equation, which adds a big blocker and another WR threat.
They have no one at TE (that I can see) that even compares to Briningstool. Jake averages 10.6 yds/play, is a great blocker, and high point receiving weapon.
Their Defense has improved, mostly on the Dline, their back end is still suspect (see Mizzou tape). I think with our leap in offensive improvement, our QB who is overall better and more seasoned, and with Luke coaching our OL, we get the job done. Cade with our WR group should be able to exploit their backend, and our defense (as noted above) should be able to put plenty of pressure on their young QB, enough to make some mistakes.
Last, The Tigers will come to play and bring it in Death Valley. I believe with these things considered, things are looking positive for the Tigers to lay the hammer down on the coots.
Go Tigers

Coots 35 Good guys 17
Sorry. That’s not my numbers. That’s the AVERAGE true score betting lines across the globe. I’m thinking mainly because of their defensive ends. According to ESecPN, both are future first rounders. And they’re never wrong or biased towards the S-she-she. 😑

I'll drive to Shane Beamers house and kiss him right on his bare ### if they walk into Death Valley and beat Clemson by 18 with that Mickey Mouse offense they're running. Sellers is good for a int and a fumble in the game. Contain contain contain contain contain....
If healthy Clemson 36-21 If not healthy Clemson 24-21

11.5 is probably a preseason line.
But this poster is talking out of his a$$. There is nothing that favors SC but 18.

This isn't some stalwart we are facing.

It all starts and ends with the run. If we do what we did against Louisville on D and Mafah struggles like against Pitt we will lose. If we play like we played against VT on D and Mafah is able to run the ball well, like we have most of the year we win. GO TIGERS!!!

SC could not stop the run against Mizzou. They were dreadful. Are we going to run the ball or is it going to be like 22 at DV when SC also couldn't stop the run but Dabo and company wanted to pass with DJ and get cute in the second half and lose by a point?

Agree with WMH. We have to find healthy linemen and Mafah has to be able to get some yards to slow down their pass rush.

Idk, their TE Joshua Simon is a beast and their leading receiver. He will be tough to stop as he’s large and physical.

I don't know that much about their program, but it sounds like you do CUTigerFl
Anyway, he could be part of that group of 3 receivers as I mentioned in the OP, and he is a TE, bu listed as a WR. I was going by the stat lookups, but I could have overlooked him. I know how Clemson stacks up, and either way, I stand by my thoughts on the game.

Those stats don’t take into account qualit of opponents. Who has Clemson put up lots of points against that was worth a crap? Not Georgia or Louisville. ####, we looked dreadful at Pitt for much of the game.
Conversely, Sellers missed 1.5 games to early injury. On top of that the ##### have played much better competition than we have so far. They’re 5 points shy of being 1st place in the SEC. Sellers is already a MUCH better passer than he was early in his Freshman season. Say all that to say, the stats do not tell the story.

If you don't like something that looks favorable to Clemson, just go ahead and say it... That's what you're here for in the first place right? Or is this an objective conversation with facts, stats, and probabilities? If you don't like the stats (published record of what teams/players have already accomplished this year) and can't differentiate the pros and cons of teams from different conferences, then that's on you...

If we score less than 30, we're in trouble.
Remember, their D held Bama to 27.
Dues anyone really think we'll hold them under 30?

are going to score points. Our O line is battered, and so is our D and we've been playing not very good teams in the a she she. I don't know if gravy biscuit is to soft on his defensive calls, or we don't have the cats to be more aggressive, but we aren't great on defense. The coots d is aggressive, and that has made them somewhat vulnerable. They tend to get out front early, then give it up later. The coot qb is a good one - hope he makes some dumb youngster mistakes like he has done all season.
We can win, we need to run the ball, and not turn it over. If we get ahead, that puts them where their defense is vulnerable and we can score a lot more points. We will have to score 35-40 to win because they are going to score points.
I'll pre-empt some of you ladies: "tell 'em coot!"

SC numbers will be different than CLemson's numbers just because of SOS. Both teams seem to be pretty even according to the eye tests. I'm thinking 27-24 type of game, and I don't know who will come out on top, but CLemson will have the crowd advantage. Probably the team with less turnovers.

You may want to factor in strength of schedule to your flawed stats, brother. 🤦🏻♂️🙄🤡🤡🤡🤡
That is a BIG deal. I’ll take a 3 point win. We ain’t putting up huge numbers on their defense.

There's no flawed stats VantheBengal, I didn't make up any of those numbers...The OP shows stats (published numbers from major sites) of what both teams have done.
There is a SOS differential, but it’s not the gap some on here make it out to be. Clemson is at 46 For comparison: Florida 2, Scar 8, Standford 17, Ole Miss 29, Indiana 106, Texas 38, Miami 54
But, let's just say you do consider that a large (SOS) gap, you can then apply that same knowledge to the gap in (PPG) offensive production between the two teams, the QB's, etc. proving my original post...Clemson has the firepower to put up the points and outscore the coots, and enough defensive prowess to put pressure on a young QB, and stop the run. If Clemson plays to capabilities, I like our chances for a W.

The current and most key question is:
Can OC Riley prove he's worth the money Clemson paid him as Offensive leader and playcaller? If he stumbles and bumbles with his offense like he did against Louisville, Va Tech and Pitt, the Tigers won't beat USC. As far im concerned, he's on the chopping block. Goodwin is cooked. FIRE him. Riley should be fervently critiqued with his "fragile and Questionable" calls offensively. DABO needs to go outside the box and hire seasoned, experienced coordinators.

Of course. Need to take care of business this weekend and beat the Citadel. For the OP, I didn't see where anyone had started a thread on our reasons to be optimistic for Nov. 30th. With the game (at the time) being 10 days away, I gave it some thought and posted my reasons why.

I think believing this result is not looking at the CU product on the field. Did you see the offensive performance at Pitt? They can go cold so fast. We’ll see but I see a game similar to last year. Low scoring defensive struggle.

If we don't get some injured OL back nothing else is going to matter

Their DL is very good and will destroy our OL if it's still the mash unit that finished the Pitt game. The running game will look like it did at Pitt and Cade will spend the entire day running around for his life.

I agree to an extent, we do need healthy offensive lineman, that is the ideal scenario. However, I do think there are things Riley and Luke can do to prepare our players to offset that deficit if it comes down to that. I know we don't like the screen game much around here much, but when executed well, it can be very effective at keeping the scales in favor of a QB playing behind an inexperienced OL- if it comes down to that. Then of course there is TE and RB chipping, hot routes, etc.
