I know we're "multiple" as BV would say so we've traditional run both 3-4 and 4-3, but we've traditionally been a predominant 4-3 defensive front. However, considering what we appear to lack at DE, I won't be surprised if we roll with Capehart at nose (he certainly is massive enough to man that spot), Parker at 1 DE and Peter Woods at the other DE. I'm not sure Woods is athletic enough to play DE in a 4-3 look, but he'd be fine in a 3 down lineman look. For the 3-4 to really work though, Sammy has to come in and be game ready. If he can work on his pass moves, he has the speed and strength to a nice stand up pass rusher/hybrid LB. That would allow us to play all 3 LBs and keep Barnes at Nickel where he is such a forced turnover machine.

I share your concerns about our DE room, as well as your proposed work-around esp. using P.Woods at DE during (frequent) 3 down lineman sets.

Any insight about whether Caden Story has the wheels to get meaningful snaps at the DE spot (to give Parker and Woods a break when we run a lot of 3 DL alignments?

I hope to never see a three man front ever again. I’d put the back up place kicker on the end rather than plat a three man front.
